watching this documentary takes me to back in time to the one week I spent in Rwanda.I clearly remember the boat rides on lake Kivu water,cheap liqueur in Goma and the visit to Nyiragongo.Rwanda is such a nice place and am planning to visit again.

It’s geological activities with the possibility of releasing methane gas from an underwater explosion kept reminding of 1986. Lake Nyos in Cameroon.
We can only pray that no such tragedy happens at Kivu
yes this is exactly the same process in Nyos, and it showed how dangerous it is.
There are now one major plant turning methan gas to electricity and another big one is about completion to generate cooking gas, that's all on the part of Rwanda.
But there are good side of that lake, there are no dangerous animals like hippos or crocodiles, yet there are fish, and modern fish farming is also expanding in that region.

I think lava (volcano liquid) is underneath of lake. It’s extremely hot. But the massages is cool for people to relax and chatting their friends.

yeah this massage must be really nice, but to tell the truth it was late afternoon, and i was feeling cold on the side of the lake.

The water of Kivu is 24°C and the air is 20°C ... nice readings. Some crazy people swim here in Finland at the winter time. The water in a hole in the ice is 2°C and the air is - 20°C or even colder. Refreshing 🙂.
If you drown in water, you will suffocate. In the region of Kivu you can suffocate at shore ... if you have bad luck. One terrible day the CO2, rising from the lake will displace oxygen and you will sort of drown. ☹
yes a limnic explosion and the cloud could cause more than 2 million death around the lake, this already happened at a smaller scale in Nyos...

yes it is good @@Riversong2024 I wouldn't recommend to stay more than 2 or 3 days in gisenyi, if you are here as a tourist, some other places are also really nice to see around. Kibuye around the lake too, is a lot less touristic and more lovely to me. but if you like touristic spots, then Gisenyi is the best

I don't take any risk here, I mean, this kind of big natural event won't be coming with some other clear indicators we could observe like volcano activity, earthquake, around the zone. For sure I won't go there if the nyaragongo was erupting.

Very informative and helpful. Can't help but worry that when there's serious unseeable volcanic activity beneath, the same sulphuric fumes could easily turn to carbon monoxide poisoning that can kill swathes of people.
Yes this place is terribly dangerous according to the geological aspects … but also terribly welcoming and beautiful
It's very strange how lots of foreigners keeps referring to DRCONGO provinces as Being in Rwanda , I watched one where they wrote Virunga Parc in Rwanda that's obsurd and misleading do your research prior to publishing ...
Some of the national parks cut across two or more countries, Virunga being one of them

Putting that $1,000 barrier on such activity as gorilla observation trek is like killing the proverbial goose. Rwandan authorities should find a way to make those tourism activities cheaper, otherwise, their tourism potential using these attractions will be limited.
I think for the gorilla treck the minimum is 1800 in fact. But it is the only thing so expensive here.they chose to protect the gorilla this way,having a lot less tourist paying a huge amount of money help the gorilla to stay more quiet
Yeah if you travel and visit Rwanda country as you’re as a foreigner especially your Muzungu,be careful they try to take advantage of your money in different ways because they think that you don’t know.
