    Mwaramutse, I am following from Seychelles. Its wonderful accompanying you on your trips. I lived in the Goma area of DRC back in the old days. We spent a lot of time in Gisenyi on the beach, of course a lot changes now especially the roads were not paved as I notice is the case now. Your trips are enticing me to plan one of my own. Thanks and keep them coming, its good experience to plan. Great stuff. I dont appreciate holidays without adventure, and yours is a memorable one.👍

    I took that entire Lake Kivu road in Rwanda (from Bukavu to Uganda) and it is beautiful! It rained while I was riding on it also. I'm really impressed with the young men carrying 300KG of beer or charcoal on their bicycles pushing them up the hill. All for $2 or $3 a day. All without a complaint. It is a hard life but it keeps them remarkably healthy. The people are so genuinely friendly. I made more friends in 2 weeks there than I have in the city where I have lived for 18 years.

    2:05 explains the difference between travelling in Africa and Europe. We can guess when you need some information, even before you ask. In Europe, I have sort for help in interpreting google maps many times but got ignored by people just walking away. The only surprise I get is when once in a while, they offer to take photos of me without me asking because I always take selfies. But random short conversations to get directions are always like a personal war in my head trying to decide who should I approach, whether they look like they will just ignore me and leave me looking like a fool talking to myself lol. Rwanda is my favourite country in Africa.

    • @Ludo_Liu
      @Ludo_Liu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know what experience you have of Europe, but i feel globalizing this way is always not true or accurate. under the "they", if i understand well, you put all the countries of Europe, and all the citizens of Europe ? don't you think this is a little reductive ?
      Yes in some countries, or some cities, people are a lot less warm, than in Africa, they don't engage conversation so easily in some other parts. You can also maybe consider the differences of cultures at some point. Let me take a really short example inside a country I know a little
      In Paris, people won't even greet you, or that's true they won't help you much if you need help, in many cases, but it will be the opposite side in south west of France... people will be very happy to talk and meet you... to continue with that example, If you go in Bretagne in France, people may look very cold at first, cause they approach you like in a "defensive" way, but finally when you win their trust, they will give all their belonging to help you out...
      I don't even speak about spain, italy, GB, germany, .... croatia,... Europe is big... and contrasted.
      I won't paint a portrait as the dark portrait you did of people of Europe.

      @@Ludo_Liu sorry if my comment annoyed you. I just expressed my experience as a whole which is a sensible way of forming opinion of places we visit. I was in Slovenia last year and a local called the police on me that a refugee from Afghanistan (they meant Africa) was walking along the road. I was in Hungary this year and locals ignored me when I tried to ask for help in ATM that had no English translation. My friend in Hungary who is a Tanzanian was stopped by the police in rural Hungary and asked for his documents and why he was visiting the region. I have been to Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and the trend is not so different that Europeans avoid strangers especially Africans. We can't run away from that. An African will never be treated without suspicion in Europe. That is simple, straight forward, plain fact Ludo. But in Africa, whether you are European or African, you will rarely experience this challenge of being looked at like a suspect. People are ready to openly interact with strangers. That was my point.

    • @georgepresley5120
      @georgepresley5120 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those places in Rwanda are sparsely populated. They have very good roads with very less users. I guess the people there aren't used to seeing visitors especially white unlike Europe

    • @BS-kl9yf
      @BS-kl9yf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@georgepresley5120 this happens across most African countries. If you have watched Itchy Boots who is currently riding across Ivory Coast, her journey in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe had similar interactions where whites are citizens and farmers. So it's not really about population sizes and seeing whites for the first time. It is more of being "nosey" in a good way and getting involved in random things around us.

    Your vlog is fascinating and revealing on So many levels. Personal declaration, I'm one of those Jamaicans who worships the motherland, all of it. I was beginning to get bored and considered ending my view, until you spoke to that elder at the restaurant.
    What a revelation!!! In case any viewer doesn't know, at the time, soon after taking over, the new president Paul Kagame, decreed that, in his view, the French either aided the genocide, or chose not to do anything to prevent it. Thus, he decided to remove Rwanda from the French sphere of influence, and align with the English speaking African countries in the British commonwealth, triggering the need for citizens to learn English. This works well for me, as I can interact with Rwandan vloggers.
    Let's view the subject on a much broader scale though. Brace yourself, my words will bite, but you will be offended only if you were present at the time, or your lineage benefitted from the atrocities about which I will now emphasize. The barbaric parasites, as I prefer to label them, who visited the wrath of Satan on my people, have left a legacy of woe, of that I'm sure you can agree. Rwanda, all French speaking colonies in Africa, but HAITI especially, have, or continue to suffer the horrific consequences of your nation's collective desire, to destroy God's design.
    I urge you to keep my words in mind, as you traverse God's country. You appear to be a kind tolerant person, as I'm sure the first visitors were, those many years ago. Reflect on how different the landscape would be, had those visitors been repelled and turned away.

    • @Ludo_Liu
      @Ludo_Liu  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not offended by your words brother, these words depict something i wish has never existed.

    • @mwenengofero
      @mwenengofero 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The situation in Rwanda is more complex than that. Paul Kagame led an english-speaking rebellion from Uganda. Paul Kagame himself, although born in Rwanda, had fled to Uganda as a toddler and thus grew up speaking English. When the RPF took over power in Rwanda, they were a minority leading over a majority that spoke French. The move to English was more about power and subjugating the French speaking majority. Also, Rwanda was not a French colony, but under a Belgian rule, as it was annexed to the Congo after Germany lost the 1st Word War. After the genocide, a French judge was trying to bring charges against Paul Kagame and his military for shooting down the plane that carried President Habyarimana (and 3 French citizens onboard). That incident started the atrocities in 1994. Only after the French judge went after Kagame and his clique did they ban French in schools. They also destroyed the French Cultural Centre in Kigali. But French is still an official language in Rwanda and we have strong ties with France. For example, the Rwandan Army is currently in Mozambique fighting to protect French interests, the company Total that is exploiting gas in the region. All this to say, everything is not what it seems at first glance. The French have become a convenient punching bag (deservingly sometimes) but we should not exonerate our African leaders as they can be just as barbaric if not more at times.

      Advanced examples:Following a successful piloting phase (2009 - 2014/15) through which a modern village was built in every province and the city of Kigali, the government of Rwanda adopted the Integrated Development Program (IDP) Model Village concept.
      Since 2016, every year Rwanda Defence Force in partnership with other government institutions develop a National IDP Model Village featured with a number of human capital development infrastructures and socio-economic projects across the country. However, Districts are also recommended to build “District IDP Model villages”.
      The national IDP Model villages inaugurated since 2016 are:
      *2016: Rweru IDP model village in Bugesera District (296 HHs)
      *2017: Kazirankara IDP model village in Nyabihu District (68 HHs) & Nyundo IDP model village in Gakenke District (40 HHs)
      *2018: Horezo IDP model village in Muhanga District (116 HHs) & Kanyenyeri IDP model village in Ngororero District (16 HHs)
      *2019: Karama IDP model village in Nyarugenge District (240 HHs)
      *2020: Gishuro IDP model village in Nyagatare District (64 HHs)
      *2021: Kinigi IDP model village in Musanze District (144 HHs)

    It is very important that the native continue to speak their native tongue. The adults that I have come to know and are my friends, prefer to NOT speak French (I'm sure you understand why) but Kinyarwanda. It is the national language of Rwanda, and the first language of almost the entire population of the country. Stop with the indoctrination. Many are still healing. Let them live in peace.

      I also think it is very god Rwanda left french language for the native language, it really take sense !
      I am french, but i habve never been proud of the horror we did and still do in Africa...

      @Ludo_Liu ...thank u for the answer, I was wondering what route would u have taken as central africa is under developed with no adequate roads unless u travel down to Congo through Cameroon and then link Rwanda
