My cat died today, all signs point to being a heart attack. Wish I had seen this video before, and had listened to our vet when she mentioned she heard a heart murmur... instead found ourselves searching for cat CPR instructions in a panic and trying to calm him down while he struggled to breathe... He was the sweetest cat, always cuddly, friendly to everyone. Absolutely hate that he could not have had a more peaceful death
sorry for the loss of your pet. My boss had a father that was revived after a heart attack. A few years later, his father contracted bone cancer and suffered through what it did to him. Long story short, my boss said now that it might have been a better death for his father to die quick as your cat did , then survive and go through something even worse later on.
I am watching this after being in a position to afford my cat's care. I can assure you it feels like you just bought borrowed time. This is definitely a rough disease.
I euthanized my sweet two-year-old ginger boy three days ago. Prior to heart ultrasound the vets believed he had pneumonia. It was after a week of ineffective antibiotics and hospitalization that they dig deeper and discovered it was his heart failing. He struggled to breathe due to pulmonary edema. There are medications to prolong life, but with my boy there was high risk of FATE and recurrent CHF. I chose to love on him one final time and send him off purring. My heart is broken. Only two years.
What a good talk about this subject .it would be geart to advise on what best to feed your dog or pet what are going through this heart deceive as they tend to go of food and drink lots of water on meds that take fluids away .could a vet help us with such advice ,thank YOU.
I wish I had seen this video a week ago. My cat was misdiagnosed with asthma and the vet gave her a steroid that killed her instead of a medication that would help her. She died quickly and mostly peacefully so maybe it was for the best but I am so so sad... she was only 8
my cat was just misdiagnosed with asthma as well. within 12 hours of coming home from the vet, and taking his first dose of steroid, was in heart failure :( took him to the hospital and he stabilized from there, but don't know how long he has to live from here.
My Beagle Bandit has a tumor on his neck as well of having 4th degree heart murmur. The vet said do a test on his lung but didn't a dress his fatty tumor
I put my dog down on the 16th of may because she was 13 years old and suffered heavily. I'll never forgive myself for betraying her trust but the level of pain I saw her in killed me every single second I looked at her. Putting her down was probably the kindest thing to do... or so I tell myself... in hindsight, ill never forget the look of utter betrayal pain she gave me, and then after the sedatives, the look of utter defeat... I'll never forgive myself.
What else do you think you could have done? The disease is not curable and gets progressively worse. No one wants to put their pet down but the reality is that we have to do what’s best for the pet. I had a poodle with this disease years ago. It was horrible to hear her breath like that.
@@funkyflights we did and it was. Basically it got to the point where all vet could do was give her pain meds... but in the end the pain meds barely worked.
@@DedicatedSpirit8 … Ah sorry, I know how much that sucks, but you did the kind thing by ending her pain, if you let it go for too long they end up slowly suffocating… I’m going through that right now with my Cat, heavily treating with meds, but it’s just a matter of time before I have to make that tough painful decision … 😔
We had to let our yo-yo go today due to pleural effusion returning for third time due to his Heart failure HCM, Ckd & anemia. we are sad we could save our 15 yr old companion .
My aunt's cat has congestive heart failure end stage. He is 15 years old and currently in the hospital. She borrowed money and took out a vet loan of 15grand . The doctors are currently telling her that the cat is suffering and to euthanize him. She doesn't have money for her phone bill or food. The cat can no longer walk and stopped eating two days ago. She insist that the medicine will make the heart failure go away. She currently is going to take another loan of 10000 for another vet hospital tomorrow. My aunt is disabled and lives on a small income.
Wow so sorry to hear that😢 It almost seems to me it's almost that worth going through these expensive vet examinations in exchange for 6 months or a year

I couldn't afford treatment for my cat Scully. IDK if she was too far gone. 48hrs without her & I'm just 🥺💔 RIP
How old was she

Did you try some options to treat her ? Was it congestive heart failure ?
