    I've listened to the Doors since I was about 17 in 1991. The amazing thing about their music is that I rediscover it every few years and it has aged like the best wine. This song is so hauntingly beautiful it gives me chills. Every contribution from Jim's voice, lyrics, John's drums, Ray's organ an Robbie's 🎸 It's all perfect...

    • @janebraun4482
      @janebraun4482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This song is haunting and 'who' could ever come along to sound like this?? The guy simply had 'it all'. You look at todays recording artists, with bazillions in the bank trying to look cool with tats, styled hair etc.... but where's the talent?? There's a reason why we are here in total awe of what we had and what we lost.

      Same here brother...though I was 15 in 1990 when I caught The Doors bug...WHOA! You and I started listening to The Doors at like nearly the same age!! Are you Canadian by chance? For a long time, (a few years that is...) The Doors were my hands down favourite bands...Then when I was in about grade 10, The Pogues took over my #1 spot for about a year...I just loved Shane MacGowan's lyrics and the drunken revelry of that band in their early years....throughout High School, I loved these bands:
      The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Pogues, The Who and then at the age of about 17 one band took over all the others and remain my hands-down favourite band of all time....The Grateful Dead.
      Now, as the Dead remain my favourite all-time band, there are 2 others that quickly follow; firstly, Miles Davis and his bands (circa. 1967-1975) and then in 3rd place? Ween.

    The genius of Ray. The organ solo is something that was taken from other dimension...the dimension from where everything come on the earth. The wizardry of the Doors was that they were a tribe where Jim was the shaman. The story about the spirit of a shaman that jumped to Jim when he was young for me is a misunderstanding. Jim was already a shaman in a previous life and in this incarnation he used this power to create The Doors with their legendary music and psychedelic atmosphere during the concerts

    I'll always love them. Everytime I think I'm saturated and don't want to listen to them for a while, some time may go by. When I revisit Jim Morrison and The Doors as I age, something new is revealed to me in the meaning of all these songs. I've come to the conclusion that they've created something that's going to the last for as long as time on Earth lasts. I think they've eclipse all the rock bands. Perhaps it's just come down to Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison as the very best singers. They've revealed their inner most deep emotions to us. They put the Human experience on display for all to hear and see.

    Just listen to that roaring thunderous applause from that San Francisco Audience. This was most definitely one of the first performances in the Bay Area by the Los Angeles band The DOORS . And at that time they hated the LA Music scene. What is funny about it is the Doors were not accepted by the LA music scene either they were outcasts. And eventually after performing several times in Northern California they were embraced by that crowd because they knew that they were like them. They were Anti War and Anti establishment and hated the corporate music scene. They just wanted to create music on their own terms and if it was popular and allowed them to keep making records they were happy. But with time all the pressures to keep making hits got to them. Mainly Jim Morrison by the time they recorded the Soft Parade they had completely lost their edge and were really sounding like the other bands at the time trying to get airplay. A Horn section does not belong in their style of music. trying to sound like Chicago or Blood Sweat and Tears just didn't work. They started to go back to their old style and the last recordings Morrison Hotel and LA Woman were making them legitimate again but unfortunately Jim definitely fearing that he might have to serve time for the Indecent exposure incident in Florida made him split to France with Pam. It is really a drag because if he hadn't let his own personal demons get the best of him. I Believe he most definitely would have created more thought provoking lyrical poetic magic. R.I.P JIMBO

Whats crzy is the applause at the end is abotu the applause for the tribute band Soft Parade ..lol and they were great, really captured the carnival sound.
