As a children‘s doctor and father of three children, two of them already adult I would add my preferred answer to many of the parents I meet: Trust in your gut-feeling, your instincts and try to be authentic, don‘t try to be perfect 😆! If you get mad - and raising a child WILL get you mad every once in a while - don‘t hide it, because they can feel it any way. In my opinion it‘s ok to sometimes rise your voice, be clear about what you expect, without ever getting physical, OF COURSE 🥰! Then try to separate for 5 or 10 minutes and come back together to explain what made you mad and reassure your baby-girl, that it was only a certain behaviour you don‘t want, and has nothing to do with her as a person, who you certainly love from the bottom of your heart 🥰!

There are exceptions, there are children or families where this won‘t work, but for most children this is very important: That they know how their parents tick 😉 . This is supported by many many clever researchers all over the world and it‘s my personal believe. But one of the strongest influence on this is my beloved wife 🥰. She has no degree, isn‘t a scientist - and still is an incredible role-model in this case 😍! She dosn’t hesitate to make it clear to our children (and to me 😱😆) how she want‘s things done, but she is showing them day in and day out how important they are for her. But to finish it up: We have the incredible luck to have three wonderful children how corresponded to this and are all „Well underway“ … There is no day we are not absolutely grateful for this! I've been with my kids mom 16+ years (1 kid together, started dating her when her other 2 were 5 years and 8 months old, now 21 and 17) and I have NEVER called her a bad word or spoke down to her because (and I tell this to people ALL THE TIME) once I say it I can NEVER take it back and why would I say it? Because I'm frustrated in the moment and can't keep my composure? I would never do that to the woman I love or the mother of my son. I've had only MAYBE a couple of small fights in front of the kids because I've always been cognizant of the fact that kids are watching. I want my boys to grow up and respect women. I know, sounds old fashioned. 😁

As a children‘s doctor and father of three children, two of them already adult I would add my preferred answer to many of the parents I meet: Trust in your gut-feeling, your instincts and try to be authentic, don‘t try to be perfect 😆! If you get mad - and raising a child WILL get you mad every once in a while - don‘t hide it, because they can feel it any way. In my opinion it‘s ok to sometimes rise your voice, be clear about what you expect, without ever getting physical, OF COURSE 🥰! Then try to separate for 5 or 10 minutes and come back together to explain what made you mad and reassure your baby-girl, that it was only a certain behaviour you don‘t want, and has nothing to do with her as a person, who you certainly love from the bottom of your heart 🥰!

There are exceptions, there are children or families where this won‘t work, but for most children this is very important: That they know how their parents tick 😉 . This is supported by many many clever researchers all over the world and it‘s my personal believe. But one of the strongest influence on this is my beloved wife 🥰. She has no degree, isn‘t a scientist - and still is an incredible role-model in this case 😍! She dosn’t hesitate to make it clear to our children (and to me 😱😆) how she want‘s things done, but she is showing them day in and day out how important they are for her. But to finish it up: We have the incredible luck to have three wonderful children how corresponded to this and are all „Well underway“ … There is no day we are not absolutely grateful for this! I've been with my kids mom 16+ years (1 kid together, started dating her when her other 2 were 5 years and 8 months old, now 21 and 17) and I have NEVER called her a bad word or spoke down to her because (and I tell this to people ALL THE TIME) once I say it I can NEVER take it back and why would I say it? Because I'm frustrated in the moment and can't keep my composure? I would never do that to the woman I love or the mother of my son. I've had only MAYBE a couple of small fights in front of the kids because I've always been cognizant of the fact that kids are watching. I want my boys to grow up and respect women. I know, sounds old fashioned. 😁
