- Friends, during my February 2023 trip to London, I had the opportunity to visit St. Thomas More’s cell in the Tower of London. More died the king’s good servant-“but God’s first.”

A Man for All Seasons is a phenomenal movie. If nobody has seen this movie, go watch it. Masterpiece and made me grow so fond of St. Thomas more that he's become a saint I pray to daily.
Absolutely agree. Watch it every year during Holy Week. Helps bring all the chaos that sometimes goes on in life into perspective.

As an educator one of his lines from Utopia really motivates me to give my all to my career.

I am due to go through confirmation in a couple of weeks time, as a 24 year old convert to the faith, and I have chosen Saint Thomas More as my confirmation saint.
I chose him, really, for three main reasons. Firstly, as a student of history, and a man who wrote his dissertation on the court of Henry VIII, I had studied Saint Thomas rigorously. I also was drawn to him as he is the patron Saint of Politicians, of which I am one, and the patron saint of adopted children, of which I am one. I feel a great connection with him and I am grateful that I can call on him to assist me with such an important moment in my life.
God bless you and send his spirit upon you.
A Man for all Seasons was one of my English setworks for matric. I was just 16 years old, but it made such a profound impact on me. St Thomas More is one of my favourite saints.

A Man for All Seasons is one of the best films I've ever seen. It got me interested in this great saint.
The opening scene and music are just incredible. Bishop Barron alerted me to this cultural gem (before my time) as well, of course, to this wonderful Saint.

St Thomas More continues to amaze me. His 'Utopia ' was much fascinating when I read it to my English literature class at college. His life as intellectual, statesman, administrator, a family man and martyr and saint still haunts me. I keep wondering if Henry VIII deeply regretted what he did to the best man he could have relied on to take his kingdom to greater heights.
"Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more." This truth is evidenced by the sacrifice of both the red and the white martyrs and ultimately it is the manifestation of the sacrifice of Our Lord. Love suffers for the good of others. Even though the Saints who suffer may not understand the reasons for suffering, God who is Love, uses the sufferings of saints for the good of others. God, who suffers for the loss of His children to sin and eternal death welcomes the sacrifices of those saints who's sufferings are redemptive to and for the lost. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Holy Church, The Body of Christ.

I grew up in a St Thomas More parish. I can still recall the school hymn - St Thomas More our patron and protector. The famous Holbein portrait hanging on the wall. I have just finished reading Utopia, such an impressive figure. Would any of us show such bravery and devotion to Christ?

I’m not a Catholic, but I admire Thomas for sticking to his convictions and being unafraid to die for it. He was a brave man. He defied an earthly king to serve the One in heaven.
Things quickly becoming an "either/or" in the West. Taking a stand is increasingly necessary to stem the decline.

the music and cinematography absolutely feels like a sad mourning time for us all, but truly we are rising up against the evil of this world and rising up for love of God. Giving all glory to God, this was my best friend's motto before during and after his death. he truly did not die. Because he is resurrected in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ redeemed Melchizedek asnd Zadok and all the high priests whom all Catholics say, "you are a priest forever (not in Jesus Christ) in the order of Melchizedek." and for other religions they say in the order of other names. Since 2-26-23 all priests are in the order of Jesus Christ. But through another name which I refuse to say because I know I am to be called a heretic if I were to say. I would be called OCD and worse. And so I still am called to be titled this if I say it or not. Only when I feel comfortable am I able to speak more on this matter. I try my best in life as a repentant sinner.

No, the sub would have imploded. There's no surviving that.
Their souls would survive and neither the sea nor the implosion would be able to stop those souls reaching Heaven through God’s mercy
Democracy.... When society falls away from moral roots, politicians will not be elected without acquiescing, at least somewhat.
Thomas More is a saint. Henry VIII is not a saint.
Few men are saints. Even some Saints were big sinners - but saw the Light of course... Best not judge the dead - we are all deeply flawed - and we are all 'players on the stage'. God have mercy on us all at this time of great social moral decadence.

I have the upmost respect for sir Thomas more but I find it odd that he is a “saint” after ordering so many Protestants to be burnt at the stake? Just food for thought @bishop
