I left Dallas for a job opportunity in Shenzhen and signed a 3-year contract. The first year and a half was tough, but later started to enjoy China a lot. When my 3-year contract was about to expire, I decided to renew it for 1-2 more year. Fast forward, I've been in China for 15 years, started my own business, got a wife and two kids, and call China my home now.

I can say American cities are in sht holes. Inflations, even auto insurance raises premium lol. Fuel prices are expensive and food omg food …. 60% to 100% more expensive depending if you are looking to buy healthy or not. Houseless people are everywhere in most major cities and sprawling into suburbs. We are in a sad sad time in USA. BUT I still try to stay positive until I can’t.
i grew up in Shanghai, and left for Beijing for my undergraduate education and then to USA for my phd. i have been visiting Shanghai about every other year since then (except for Covid). it's a great city and i enjoy living in both China and USA. i consider both great countries. if only USA politicians give up trying to contain China, the world will be a much better place!
I'm the opposite, but not specifically China. I left the US in 2001 and at that time, my goal was to go back to US asap once i sort out family business matters in Asia. Sometime around 2003, I visited US again on a business trip as the lead for our due diligence team to acquire 2 US companies and on that trip i noticed that i couldn't wait for the trip to end so i can be back in Asia. These days, i would avoid going to US unless I have no choice its surprising how things have changed in Asia
Yeah I think politically both countries have their issues. I like to look past that and share my experiences. Thank you for your kind comments. Both of you!
The Jews used the so-called democratic votes to invade the U.S. government, control the United States, treat war as a business, feed the more than 10 children born to each family in the 13th arrondissement of New York, and avenge Hitler's massacre? Slave the world?

About the Spitting, just give them time to be civilized. Once you live longer in China, u will understand how the government is trying to help others from poor rural area populations migrate to 1st tier Cities to earn their bucks. Hence all the rural bad habits migrate to the developed cities too (Peeing/spitting/Que cutter in public). I'm not praising the government because is just a visible fact and in Shanghai, it's really hard to find any homeless people.
There are many overzealous extremist in the world. Don’t let others form it for you. Let the journey surprise you. Then form your own opinions. Be the bridge of love.
there used to be a meme where american maybe average in skill, but they would win in being more confident in how good they were then everyone else. where american has alot of self-believe and they didn't care what others think... today, it seem like that confidence has disappeared, american feel uncertain of their future, lack confidence and had turn to jealousy, enters into a dellusion that the chinese government is behind everything... it a rather sad result, resulting in a very polarised society that doesn't trust each other. I just can't believe how much US change within my lifetime. how we gone from celebrating the first black president of US, to an insurrection over disputed election result between trump and biden in just the span of a decade. some people think this is about US v China, but I don't think so, when Trump started his tarriff war, he didn't just target China. EU, Japan, Korea were all slap with new tarriff, this insecurity, isn't just external either, with american questioning each other as to being "real" american. as the 2 parties continue to fragment the country to entrench their own interest, the country is tearing itself apart, and that is very sad to see. democracy might as solve the issue of monoploy of power, but it has no solution for the duopoly of power and the polarizing effect of such a division. US need to resolve it internal problems, only then can it find the confidence to be a great country again than one that is fearful of everyone else...
Truth is truth so we just enjoy a good life. Let the haters hate, the nasty ones harm then accuse falsely. It's their problems and not ours. God is real and we just enjoy a good life while God captures them There are a lot of misconceptions about China but it is true if Communism falls into the wrong hands... It is deadly...
America is the best country in the world because they talk about China this and that but when they look at their own backyard they’re like damn let’s talk about China again so Americans forgot how there country is number One.
The talking points against China are usually of one race while its defenders are diverse. I guess truth transcends any kind of man made division, who wouldve thunk it 😂.
The US is very specific..... As a US citizen, You would have to declare and register as a foreign agent if you were to accept payment from any Chinese entity or interest. So, even if you are being paid by the Chinese government or not, technically, it is best to keep that to yourself. I think you were asked this question because all we see are vlogs of the good things about your experience. You do not show any downside of living there challenging situations there like...... Cameras everywhere, no privacy... and cruelty to animals there( dog meat trade there).
You do know that there’s more cameras per square kilometer in London than all Chinese cities except 1 and all those Chinese cities have way higher population density than London right? India top 2 spots in terms of cctv density globally, London is #4 on the list. As one of the “civilised” cities, where is the complain about lack of privacy in London? Double standards is epic here. Most Chinese citizens I know want those cctvs around as it has reduced crime rate to levels that any liberal democracy country can’t match, they accept the fact that there is no privacy when out in public. Your suggestion of “keeping it to yourself” is a violation of IRS regulations so you are openly telling her to break US laws? The IRS taxes US citizens on all foreign income sourced and requires it to be reported even if there is a tax treaty with said foreign country. As for dogmeat, all that rhetoric about respecting cultures, just because it’s considered bad in your culture doesn’t mean that it’s considered bad in other cultures. That said, animal cruelty laws are in place in China so animal cruelty laws are clamping down on animals falling into the pets category. Lastly regarding privacy, as if there’s privacy in the US unless you go off grid totally. Let’s not forget credit rating is required in US when buying anything significant, every time you use a credit card that transaction is recorded and your credit score data has it. Even for minor purchases on Amazon, who has been busted for selling that data to advertisers. Facebook, Twitter, TikTok all have your digital foot print which the US government can obtained legally or illegally, have we forgotten about the information wiki leaks, Snowden and most recently Twitter files disclosed? An undeniable fact for people who have actually been to China today, the living conditions are far superior to New York City, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Houston, etc. Is China perfect? No. But one thing China is far superior is they actually spend their money on their people instead of sending billions off to for example Ukraine instead of helping their own citizens, continuing to enrich the wealthy while 70%+ of Americans are living Paycheck to Paycheck or go bankrupt from the ridiculous medical bills (most bankruptcies in the US are due to this). Paying illegal immigrants more welfare than legal citizens is another ridiculous situation, you won’t see this in China. Lastly over 150 million Chinese tourist left China in 2019, if China was really that repressive, where is the asylum seekers crisis? The US border crisis is caused by less than 3 million people trying to enter illegally or seeking asylum. 150 million people left China, I’m still waiting to hear of a Chinese refugee/asylum seeker crisis in the West but I’m still waiting.
Nagaland, India eat dog meat. Vietnamese eat dog and cat meat. Indonesian eat dog and bat meat. Filipino eat balut, bat meat. Sabahan eat turtle egg. But that is nothing, imma highlight China since it is the latest trend isn't? You are judging a country based on your own assumptions without even visit that country first.
I left Dallas for a job opportunity in Shenzhen and signed a 3-year contract. The first year and a half was tough, but later started to enjoy China a lot.
Love your video
Thank you so much❤️

Hi Melissa, about Chinese spitting, I think they are baseball players.
Really beautiful china..and safest country
there used to be a meme where american maybe average in skill, but they would win in being more confident in how good they were then everyone else. where american has alot of self-believe and they didn't care what others think... today, it seem like that confidence has disappeared, american feel uncertain of their future, lack confidence and had turn to jealousy, enters into a dellusion that the chinese government is behind everything... it a rather sad result, resulting in a very polarised society that doesn't trust each other.

@anglohan5428 Maybe you should free your head first !
Staying as long as you can in China.
We shall see!!
Truth is truth so we just enjoy a good life. Let the haters hate, the nasty ones harm then accuse falsely. It's their problems and not ours. God is real and we just enjoy a good life while God captures them
There are a lot of misconceptions about China but it is true if Communism falls into the wrong hands... It is deadly...
Well done video Melissa! I really wish you will 'get paid by the Chinese government' one day😊
@anglohan5428 please don't corrupt this channel with politics
No way! Won’t be doing that ever. 👌😁

Haha yes. True. I was 6
America is the best country in the world because they talk about China this and that but when they look at their own backyard they’re like damn let’s talk about China again so Americans forgot how there country is number One.
They get paid by US gov to say "You get paid by Chinese Government", nice video btw, more please
@anglohan5428Go get a new job! Doing something meaningful.
The talking points against China are usually of one race while its defenders are diverse. I guess truth transcends any kind of man made division, who wouldve thunk it 😂.
I also get the same negative Comments on my Vlogs too about China and am always getting accused of being a part of a Chinese propaganda.
Sorry to hear that. But I guess it’s inevitable with our channel niches.
@@melissa_renee So True. It's Already predictable that I would get these comments whenever I post something nice about China.

Spent 3/4 of my life growing up in the US after China and human beings are just as ignorant on both sides of the Pacific.
Being a vegan, you miss out on a lot of Chinese delicacy

I really want to know if there are some youtubers paid by the Chinese government...
No, but there are few millions paid by CIA.
Her is another one the famous American zombie.
Hahaha he called me a zombie.
@@melissa_renee the man below is a zombie... 😂
@@WarrenKLiu I wish I could articulate so well. You really have a way with words! and with logic and facts!
@@WarrenKLiuyou really slapped hard. Kudos
Switzerland, South Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines are all dog meat consumers. Why do you pick on China?
