    That is a keen observation, Police in China often is like a Mediator, not arm of the law. Police in America more often than not doesn't do that, which i think is a shame, because unless that is a felony or someone got hurt, many civil dispute can be solved through Mediation by an official.

      Thank you! That makes me feel good that I am understanding things correctly. When my husband was in a scooter wreck that was our first experience of this. And at the police station they had tables set up so that the people could figure out their disputes with the police as the mediator.

      @@melissa_renee Very quintessential Chinese way of doing things, always perfer to resolve disputes by talking things out. Personally I think that's a great way of doing things, especially in today's world, simply too many conflicts.

      You are correct, police in China mostly as mediator , no gun , in some small towns, some people even call police when they feel lonely or not happy with their families or they lost their cats also call police( my relatives live that town ) , that’s why people in China never afraid of them and some rioters even attack police officers from time to time .

    There are a lot of different taste of potata chips in China, but the best I would recommend the brand called "Jack&Jill", a brand from Hong Kong.

    Dear Melissa, I really enjoyed the new vlog, please keep up the amazing work. :)
    My question is, did your daughter ever considered to continue her studies in China? There are several majors taught in english.
    (I'am a 25 years old BA graduate majoring in chinese from Hungary and one of my dream is to spend some time (a few years) in China. I had a phase where i thought, studying in China (taught in english) could be an ideal path too. Will see, how it goes.)
    I'am simply curious, and would love to hear about other peoples journey, ideas. I hope my question is not too indiscreet.
    Your videos brings me a great amount of joy, I'am sooo glad you started TH-cam. Please keep up the amazing work. Truly motivating.
    Best regards,
    from Hungary

      Well, first of all your comment made me tear up! Thank you so much for your kind words. I want you to know how much that motivates me and keeps me going! And second, great question! She does not have a deep desire to stay and learn Mandarin due to the fact that we will most likely be moving before she graduates. She had thought about taking a gap year and enjoying some classes here, but only if we were still living in China. Her goal is to attend a school with a film program so the UK will probably be were she ends up.
      I hope you can fulfill your dream of coming and spending a few years here. If you know the language it will be an AMAZING experience.
      x

    Do librarians get paid well? I was thinking of what to do one day when all my children are grown and that is one I'd love to do too as a book lover (I'd love to work in the children's section). How much schooling do you need to be a librarian? I have never been to college. Just been a mom like you this whole time. . .

    • @melissa_renee
      @melissa_renee  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To become a certified librarian you have to have a masters degree. It's usually 2 years for the masters. And yes, librarians get paid well internationally, I think state side they do as well, but only because they have the masters and will be paid at a higher tier. But it's not just school jobs, so many opportunities are open to you if you have the LIBM degree. You should look into it!

    • @TheMennomilist
      @TheMennomilist 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, that stinks. I thought you had to have your masters too! I told someone recently, because I know two people who are head librarians and they have masters. I never went to college so that would take some time for me. Oh well. I'll probably work at a quilt shop when I'm old. ;)@@melissa_renee

    10:05 In China, when the police are working on a case, there is always a crowd of curious people around them
    In the US it's completely different, people try to stay away when the COPS doing their job, I think it's because no one wants to eat the wrong bullet😹

      Probably not. The university she is really wanting to attend is in the UK. And two others that are options are there too. US is just too expensive too. 😭

      @@fdjw88- in Chinese only though. NYU in Shanghai is expensive. Singapore's MOE has the best deal. Subsidized tuitions and work (required) for the Singapore government for 3 years after graduation.
