This is one of the most comprehensive block printing videos I’ve seen. Speedball should cut you a check 😄

the black thing you were using is a bench hook and its used to hook on your desk and keep your linocut from slipping. Also, as I saw someone else recommend, get a piece of scrap glass and use that for your paints! Another tip, warming up the linocut block will help with carving, if it's too cold it gets stiff. Also, another thing that might help your prints come out more consistent is to use a paddle or a wooden spoon to smooth out the back when youre printing it.

Just got one of these as a gift and the instructions are still just as vague 2 years on, even with a packaging redesign. Thanks for making this video!

The Bench hook can be placed in the edge of the bench and them place your carving block against the top hook to hold your work against to keep it steady while carving.
You may repurposing a glass from a picture frame for your ink. Use a scrap piece plexiglass for your ink.

Thank you!! Pretty useful, the only sad thing is that in my country this kit is more expensive and it brings less tools, however, I'm definitely getting it; good times!

This was a very nice video Thank you! I bought a different stamp carving kit by speedball with just the black ink and no ink tray so this one is clearly a better investment. I am curious about the firmer lino material and how that works so I will keep an eye out if you do a video about that part. You did a very nice job btw especially if this was your first piece, you are quite talented.

Thank you! I have been itching to do another block printing project. I definitely need to test the firmer block. Hopefully soon!

The bench hook is a safety device as well as a place to spread ink.

Thank you for this video, can you just use acrylic paint? Or do you have to use the ink?

I am not sure, I have only tried with the ink.

I don't understand why they send that out with the nib support pieces loose. But just know..you don't have to take it all apart again to change the nibs out. Just loosen the ring and that should be enough.
