Awesome! Great to see another engine conversion from the start. Your start to finish engine conversion series are the best. Looking forward to watching it come together.
Bloody Griffo getting a mention. There's a blast from the past. First met him in 2007 when he worked just around the corner from where I worked. Could always hear the dyno pulls.
Probably the best Skid Factory Episode I have watched today...That was fun to watch and very well filmed. Gotta love a bit of engine assembly, ring gapping included...I’ve gapped a few rings in my time but never in an engine...never fail to learn something from TSF. Cheers...
Handling the stick mag and rat nest is one thing. Handling the "clean up afterwards t-shirt", now that's a whole different game. Better you than me Al.
Well, I've binge watched all the offerings you guys have to offer. A video a week isn't nearly enough. A week is too long! For real though awesome work you guys. This is one of the best channels on TH-cam hands down!
I was today years old when I learned the term "stick mag". Excellent video, grot and mould notwithstanding. Goleby and Al are educational and funny as ever! This project excites me since I don't know much of anything about Toranas other than they exist. I'm also starting to admire the humble 1J :)
I started with MCM years ago and I loved the old school mechanic that Al is, reminded me of my late father and a neighbour I used to call "Grandpa", both mechanics. "Wisdomous" people how some would say. Now, I'm watching only The Skid Factory because it's pure joy to see how people mend things in the old fashion way and quite frankly even though I can call myself above average with mechanical knowledge, I've learned a lot from these two and every time I see a new video I "crack a fat" :))) Al is Bottling, his blood's worth as Aussies would say. Thanks a lot man, you've helped me a lot taking care of my tin can Mazda 6 MPS just by learning things watching your videos. As for the 80's porn star, you're a legend too.
Just started this Holden series; looking forward to it! Found you thanks to DeBoss Garage. Based on on the rebuild videos I have seen on TH-cam I am thinking a little dog hair is the secret ingredient in every rebuild! Cheers!
I don’t know much about them but My older brother had a Torana growing up. This was 20 years ago. I think it was an LX with a 253 in it. It didn’t have the classic SLR5000 written on the side of it or the drop tank at the back. It was gold in colour. I drove it a few times, it was like driving a tank. It had lots of torque and went pretty good but the gearbox felt like shit shifting. He ended up having an engine bay fire due to a split fuel line. He managed to fix it up and eventually sold it.
Gday guys a unique idea i seen years ago was actually to turn the grill into the intercooler the intercooler was made by cut&shut to follow the same contour/shape as the original grille
Awesome, can't wait to keep up with the build, it's always interesting to see how these older cars were engineered and how they mash up with newer engines and electrics.
I remember in my early teens so wanting a Torana. Fortunately by the time I was old enough to drive I'd got over it. Still, this is going to be an amazing build.
So. Much. Yes. I've been wanting to see a JZ into a Holden 6 for years. Used to have a 6 cyl HG Monaro back in the early 90's. She's long gone now, but still keen to see the tech upgrade that would smoke a stock 350 GTS.
Pretty soon there will be a generation of young lads that no niether the joy of a rear drive manual car or finding a sick mag stashed in the shithouse of the local mechanics workshop. I dont feel sad for them though as i had to navigate my early years without tinder.
Masterful. Imo witch is all I have to offer. I believe in your process as it's the same methodology that I use in my engine builds. I admit I have yet to have any familiarity with the Toyota j motors at all. I have read enough source material to understand the process and procedures of engine assemblies. I dig the content and believe in the awesomeness that is The Skid Factory. Or as I like to reference you The sf. I got a cool logo designed for it to in my head to reference any who thank you greatly for the hard work that adds to my enjoyment.
Toranas in Australia are the most successful racing model ever. You can go to any racing event in Australia and there will be some kind of Torana racking up the wins. Drags, Circut, Rally, Speedway, anything you can think of they have and continue to win every thing in Australia and probably plenty overseas as well.
Keen to see the 1J shoehorned in there. What is the weight difference like when compared to the old 202 or 308. It's a pity what has happened to the interior. Was more like the casting couch before hahahaha.
So glad a KA didn't even make it near that Torana. Even with the Pee Pee papers and maggots, probably would have stunk worse! Good on ya Mates ! Cheers from Winnipeg, MB. Canada.!
One comment equals one prayer for Lee's damaged soul.
🙏🙏🙏
😂
Fine.
Bless your heart Lee
Darn!
Ripping into the owner on day one, Woody and Al are legends.
It's almost like they are just mates of ours. :D
@@theskidfactory Next up, T-Shirt with a literal "Stick' Mag on the front.
wonder if he wanted that book back
😌
Air/water intercooler and keep the grill.
Thats a matter of budget, but you got the like so ill guess the budget is ok with that .
I'm sure Al has something up his sleeve I dont like the idea of changing the grill but if it needs to happen then that's what will happen
Sure there’s a way to slim that grill down on the bandsaw.
Today on the Skid Factory. Things that make Al gag. Rat shit and K24s.
Had a LJ in the early 70’s .....brought back some memories.
Hearing Al laugh makes me laugh, the banter keeps getting better and better!
Good oul AVE,
Never ever change Al and Woody.
Love your work.
Awesome! Great to see another engine conversion from the start. Your start to finish engine conversion series are the best. Looking forward to watching it come together.
'The Rats gone, the Snakes probably got him' Not something you'd hear over here in the UK too often haha
Having rats and snakes side by side in your surroundings seems normal over there!!!
Mohammad.Alshishani please expand. As a UK resident I may we’ll be in partial agreement.....
What you don't use snake to sort a shed rat out over there?
Not much stuff around that is as enjoyable to watch. Thanks to all.

Nice filing and edits, dug the music too. The content has always been great, but the videos just keep getting better and better!
"I'm sure there's a few differences only torana people care about" savage!!!
Yes we care! Lol sometimes 😂 Just having a Tory is good😁👍
Getting to be one of the best shows on TH-cam, this one is going to be GOOD!.
Al looks so much happier these days then when I'd see him at A&M auto 👍.
The banter is pretty hilarious also 🤣😂
The best part of the Skid Factory is learning more about cars I have in Forza Horizon 4! And then modding them to match!

Don't u mean turbo yoda haha
When in doubt rip it out. And throw it at the cameraman asking all the stupid questions. Love your work AL.
Christ the whole episode is beautiful one liners. Loved it. The interior hazard , did not love so much. I honestly almost chucked.
Take a drink every time Al says "stick mag". Enjoy your weekend.
My uncle is a Torana purist.
I'm a JZ fan.
Can't wait to show him this 😂😂

Cam covers in wrinkle red? Resplendent 👌
LJ Torana project on the Skid Factory!!!!! This has made my year
I just enjoying my breakfast and watching Skid Factory vid, then 15:27 kick in. - -'

You boys are banging out mega content. Loving your work. My favourite channel by a long way. Big thumbs up from me in the UK.
Best. Project. Yet! I have a HR, which I'm putting a 1JZ into so I will watching and taking notes. Can't wait for the next episode
Al and woody. Outing mates for having a sad fap since 2020.
xD
Stick Mag, Oh Stick Mag, You excellent friend, thanks, thanks a million, thanks without end.
Love my Warren and Brown torque wrench. It will outlast me...
Ahhh it's so nice to see Al come out of his shell, and have fun
Love these. My sister has a completely original one. The engine hasn’t even been reconditioned.
I think you guys are really lucky to have Kristy, Kylie and Kimberley helping you with this.
Loving the longer episodes
Gday guys a unique idea i seen years ago was actually to turn the grill into the intercooler the intercooler was made by cut&shut to follow the same contour/shape as the original grille

Love watching these Aussie builds. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
Al's on fire with the one-liners
I have a Olive green 72 LJ Torana with a 1j it was my first car back in the 90s love lj's always have always will❤❤❤❤
PM on facebook and tell us how to fit it.
Bro I got mine done from all race in Melbourne I never did mind you got a better idea than what I have
I remember in my early teens so wanting a Torana. Fortunately by the time I was old enough to drive I'd got over it. Still, this is going to be an amazing build.
I worked with a bloke who has a LC torana, track car he’s put a 2jz gte in. Thing is a weapon of a car
When i was a wee lad back in the 80s. I owned a LC , 2 Lh's and a Lx. They were easy to fix and alot of fun.
Barn find that isn't a barn find. Perfect. Glad to see a Torana!
Love this!!! My first car was my mate's grandma's canary yellow and white 1978 UC Torana, pretty similar look to this baby. Wish I still had it :(
Bro love the red clothing accents to match the car paint.... now there's thinking.. nice one ties u in to the story 🙌🏼
Short and thick does the trick. Same goes for con rods too.
awesome episode. Was really cool seeing the engine go together.
Went to the pub the other day and asked for a lemon squash and the gave me a XXXX . you guys have set a trend
maybe it was a thing (Al)ready
ha
I think if you ask for anything in a Queensland pub you get a XXXX
Yessss. Just finished watching all the builds you guys have done, perfect timing 😅
Мужики, я вас люблю! Спасибо за вашу работу!
Something calming about watching Krystal build that bottom end.
Cheers guys, great looking project. Surprised you let it anywhere near the shed as it was though. Grim.
Hahaha one of your best videos to date guys 😂! Very funny but educational at the same time 👌
27:45, the haunting sounds of Lee and his alone time in the Torrie....😳
I nearly spat my drink out when woody suggested what that rag could of been used for
We were all thinking it though!
Yeah but I tried not to
Great choice of music woody
wow! the shop's insulated now!
genuine LOL at ad link to Skid Factory air fresheners
Woodie these camera shots are epic!
There was a viva on a show called GOBLIN WORKS GARAGE here in uk wish they would’ve put this engine in,glad your back doing a project lads
Keep up the good work!
@14:51 careful there, mate; looks like Lee enjoys the akka dakka stick mags with extra special docking features!
Poor Lee...
The balance shaft has to come out and the s2000 oil pump is used
*k20 oil pump
So. Much. Yes.

Never heard the term “stick mag” before.. that’s a new word for my Aussie slang dictionary!
Mag got sticky.
Useful when you want to play with your stick.
What?????
You ve never heard the term "stick mag"....
How old are you dude?
@@justinjordan6567 Its not the age, its the hemisphere, mate.

“Stick mag” - I haven’t heard that in at least 10 years 😂
I prefer the term "cliterature" 😆
Engine building sequence was very "Mr. Roger's'-ish. So soothing...
I was eating before... never watching you guy while enjoying a snack again.
Love seeing these Aussie builds
"is that sine drive"
My goodness, the RB hate never stops I love it
Best thing about Wednesday's 🙂
Great work as always, super-chill and always makes me wanna hit the garage and get dirty 😘
first video ive watched on this channel, good stuff, will be sure to check out more :)

That torque wrench was mad looking
Loving this project gents.
Had four of these as a young fella, three four doors and a two door.

The rag and bits of magazine reminded me of the good ol' days of MCM when they did the civic that stank.
Keen to see the 1J shoehorned in there. What is the weight difference like when compared to the old 202 or 308.
It's a pity what has happened to the interior. Was more like the casting couch before hahahaha.
I can’t begin to imagine the stent under that back seat 🤮 well done boys!
I like how the video preview thumbnail for this is finding the picture of 2 dudes
Loving the idea of the mag under the seat but I only have a carport so might scare the neighbours haha
14:51 I laughed so hard. And then Woody says exactly what I was thinking. 😂😂😂
Same!! I was going to comment if you didnt
Yeah idk it didn't look stiff enough to be a jizz rag. You never know though.
I cringed as soon as he picked it up
Sitting here with 7 incisions in my gut after surgery and I was trying SO hard not to laugh. I was unsuccessful... the pain was worth it.
@@rennkafer13 hope you make a speedy recovery

Perfect choice of music for the teardown....
Great video can’t wait to see it finish
Love the videos guys. So excited for this build. I’ve just finished my xm falcon with a 1j. Can’t wait to see more. Loving the commentary too 😂
Have to agree with Al's assessment of "our".
A good combo right there!
As unique as a K24 would be, a 1J is better suited in such a vehicle in my opinion.
Lucky I skipped forward.. saved my life.😂😎🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀🇦🇺
You should've used the shop vac to clean that crud out, then just hurl the vac amd charge Lee for a new one😉
Sitting in my car .. weeping
merch
Do it !!
That was Lee's first album release.
Epic opening to a new series! :)
