“In every great cook, there’s a Chinese guy.”
-Anthony Bourdain
Bourdain is the soul reason why I cook for a living and also had single handedly shaped my own life and character. He was and is my number one inspiration both in work and life.
That’s sad.
🙄
@@charliehustle3685 ignorant comment
@@bigpips3051 this is more sad 😂🤣
@@bigpips3051 Bourdain is a flake and took the easy way out. Only a million to his daughter? That’s nothing. What an ass
Ripert and Bourdain are complementary, great chemistry and they work off each other so well! Almost exact opposites…
My father and Anthony Bourdain both died on the same day. Anthony's death had a more profound impact on my life.
Eric Ripert such a gentleman.
Oh Tony, you just said you have the best job in the world. We've heard you say that dozens of times. But it wasn't enough. Where's the hope for the rest of us? Miss you.
Wrote song for Tony on you tube-John Vucajnk, you may want to check it out.

Amazing interview. These mates are sincerely eloquent, passionate, and articulate about cooking. I also discovered the difference between being a chef over just being merely a cook!
Goddammit Tony you are delight to listen to. Miss ya man.
ANTHONY BOURDAIN THE BEST.
I just miss the soul and stories and send him prayers ✌🏻🕊🪶💐🙏🏻✊
Bourdain possibly gave us some insight into his suicide when he talks about how he just wanted to be one of the guys, and to go home at night knowing he did a good job. Rest in peace.
Amen to that. Totally agree. Low self esteem could become such a difficult to handle self destructive feeling at times.
He drank to excess to help him to deal with his demons. But in the end they got the upper hand.
Plenty of people have that attitude but they don't end up committing suicide. My guess is that Bourdain knew too much about what is going on, and he was murdered for refusing to endorse veganism.
Love you Tony
Let's just all disregard the documentary about missing children he was working on.
REST IN PARADISE ANTHONY!!
Word
And paradise it is. I miss this man so much. His intelligence, kindness and truly a humanist.
Eric Rupert is awesome! I love Anthony Bourdain, but I truly adore and respect Eric Repert!
i agree Miss Mary
You wrote his last name twice and got it wrong both times lol
Yes I love Eric too.
Billie Bergmann hhb
Billie Bergmann hi jiihihi
Tony Bourdain, probably the funniest chef ever. We miss you.
Wow, what a great interview! Feels extremely honest and sincere, props to the interviewer!
Amazing
It's cool seeing him happy here.
My first job in a real kitchen was with a tyrant chef. It was 1989, I was 21, fresh out of military and was in no state of mind to put up with that. Even though I worked food service off and on afterwards, that was the end of my cooking dreams.
I had the same experience.
Same here but not with a tyrant chef but a tyrant owner who was used to her employees bowing their heads when they saw her.
Here I come with this "don't fuck with me NYC attitude" and she hated it. Fired me two weeks later.
“The overall likelihood is that you are going to end up on shag carpet with Ron Jeremy” 😂😂😂
The world lost an absolute gem of a human being. AB is an awesome soul. The world misses him dearly
the collective chuckle at 54:55 says all that anyone needs to know about the perceived value of the work that goes into satisfying the public with food on a daily basis. From the price of the meal, to the tip. Sure, the tipping system is archaic at best, but how can you manage customers' expectations, from the actual cost on every level to get the food on the plate to upholding the desired standard of service from a FOH perspective, all while being able as a business owner to reasonably afford paying a real living wage to every employee?
Gabrielle is gorgeous wow
What they are not saying is you are going to work every holiday, Friday, Saturday most times sunday, cooking is a labor of love because you are barely going to make enough money to live
My son followed Tony into his grave. Tony was his mentor and my son was an exec chef in many places. In Sept he took a pill and died. He must have reached or identified with Tony too much. 😢
Yes it took me 6-7 years to learn how run my biz and staff, I made a ton of mistakes ❤
48:03 smooth
🤣😂Fantastic
Jeez Tony you fkd it all away buddy...
Great.
I must have been a real foodie...by 1976 I knew of the chef that started in the world trade center..chef lamonica....there were rock start in the chefs world...nothing like 20 years later but for some of us having Michael asking me to dance in the late 60's was better than having one of the animals or monkeys...don't even remember which flirt with me on an elevator.
Filmed in 2006, if only Bourdain knew what he'd be in for with CNN 6 years later in 2012. To think, he thought he was successful in 2006. lol
great interview. although it's like for 1 hour i'd like to move the lady's mic just a tad to the right
These vids are great, but the sound is maddeningly bad. Apparently there was no engineer on staff.
And Who is this lady who owns The Prune?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Gabrielle Hamilton? she's awesome!!!
Tough cookies these chefs
It was self loathing that did him in.
Mabey he was bored... Ask the police why they find so many men who accidentally hang themselves
I just got done cooking a whole duck with a Cornish Hen inside lol. The hen is a little dryer then I wished but the duck is just wow . That duck skin with hen meat soaked in drippings is just the best thing ever after a few shots of vodka chased with your favorite juice . its not a mcdonalds chicken nugget . So I am ok with it . It fell off the bone . I am good to go . I am just now finding his lives works and am feeling all his words . I never feel ok with who I am . I feel list and just stuck in this skin bag . But hearing him say the kids of things I wish I had the guts to say makes me proud of the fact that I once was a damn good dish washer . He makes me feel ok about the screw up I am . I feel ok with my 4 am duck stuffed with a hen with nothing added . It was simply sexy . If I could make out with food that duck mean raped in crispy duck skin wail I was buzzed makes me feel stronger and capable . I am ok .
Wow sounds sexy and exclusively delish
Anthony Bourdain took me on the greatest trips in my life. I was a live in caregiver early 2000 - 2022. So, No Boundaries became my first class ride around the world. Rest in Peace Tony

Cia is not a good investment in my opinion, because alot of people don't realize, you have a ton of dept and you will not be able to pay it back because, you will not be able to get a great paying job at least up front.
School lunch with a Sardine sandwich, sounds like child abuse . LOL
El Gato oh, I don't know...a sardine in Europe is nothing at all like a sardine in America.
Chicken nuggets is a child abuse! lol!
Mate, the flavour of sardines here (in Europe) are not even remotely close to your canned sardines. The sardines you're thinking of are salty and sour...here they are fresh and flavourful.
Obviously you have no idea how fantastic Sardines are in Europe & the amazing health benefits. USA are killing their children & creating a adult population with huge health problems with Fast cheap food full of chemicals and sugar. You are What we would call in UK = A numpty - thick as a plank - stupid beyond words. No surprise that USA is in the state it is now. 👎
Gabrielle had no mentors because there were (potentially are) no mentors for women in many industries…apparently including the bro-tastic Chef-dom.
Simply not true. Some cooks avoid the type of kitchens that Eric Ripert came up in. They are scary.
The envious toothbrush subsequently nail because rooster arguably fasten unto a present christmas. well-made, youthful rubber
The only one I care about is Bourdain.
That is a shame, and Im sure Tony would say the same, Eric was one of his best friends and a top chef in the world, not familiar with Gabrielle but Im sure she is a wonderful chef as well, I think Tony would tell you to open your mind and try to appreciate the bigger picture, there are years of experience on that stage, much more than just Tony can provide.
Wrote song for Tony on you tube - John Vucajnk, you may want to check it out.
Without Eric we wouldn't have had Anthony
Eric is a genius chef, good mate of Tony, a Buddhist and a solid guy.
The guy in the beginning needs to drink water and stop all those gross mouth sounds
Omg yes. It’s maddening.
"She worked in NOTHING RESTAURANTS for 22 yrs".
What a stupid thing to say. I wonder what the owners of those restaurants thought when they heard this jerk calling their livellyhood, their source of income to support their families, NOTHING RESTAURANTS.
Right. Typical narcissist employees
This is too busy. Too many people. One on one is hard enough if the interview is actually about the interviewee.
Gabrielle make it a point to stop stop stop touching your hair. It’s not appealing!
That host sucks, and especially the sound.
yes, pretentious prick. He's a food critic; most of them are pretentious cunts.
He talks as if he has experienced what these 3 legends when, in fact, he only knows how to write.
That is the unhappiest woman I've ever seen
How in the hell?
Yes Debbie downer, run fast and far from her and her food I’d say
The host is lame.
I hate him.
Everything that these people make in a kitchen turns to shit. Literally. What they do is not that important.
And I'm sure you make a ton of contributions to society that are everywhere and life changing,
😅🤣😂 👍 Perfect response 👏
We all end up dead, too, so why bother LOL.
@@margaretmaeda2548 we pass our knowledge and, hopefully that knowledge is understood and utilized. I do not care about me but I do care about the world my kids, grandkids, so on, will inherit. The purpose of life is to find your gift. What gives your life meaning is to give that gift away. Peace.
Women want to understand food after they've already destroyed the family....not going to happen.

CNN is a joke lol
