    Just a couple weeks ago I saw your older Lion Nebula short with the lion roaring! That inspired me to image the Lion Nebula, which came out great and is the last thing I shot. Funny that you put this out right now! Ha ha, thanks Joe 😁 your images are awesome!!

    WOW! Incredible images Joe! 😮 In fact, you have captured so much nebulosity in the second image that my first response was "OMG....where is the Lion in all of that?!".😀(a nice problem to have...well, it's NOT a problem, really!).😀 Joe, you have every right to be extremely proud of the significant progress you've made in capturing data and processing it! 👍👍

      Thanks so much Derek! I was the same way actually. I was like, man I really over-cooked this image, but then realized that’s what’s really there and I just couldn’t pick it up before. I’m really happy with my progress to this point.

    Great to follow your journey into deep space photography. The cave nebula is an extremely difficult target to process and also my nemesis. Both your images came out absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow that image of the Lion Nebula is one of the best I've ever seen, great job Joe and thanks for sharing
    Yeah in three years lot has changed in the astrophotography world, it made everything a lot easier to step in, though the prices are rocketing at the moment here in Europe, Belgium

    • @JoesAstrophoto
      @JoesAstrophoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Siegfried! I agree, the prices are getting astronomical now. I'm not sure I could have afforded my gear if I had to buy it now as opposed to the prices 3 - 4 years ago. I paid $1450 for my EQ6 and now they are going for over $2,000. It's gone mental.

      Thanks John! Our weather here is so weird. Tonight it will be clear but too cold to image -15c, but tomorrow it will be almost 15c, just wild temp shifts this time of year.

    Old man??? Hey, don't steal my thunder ... as I am the king of the "old Man' in these Astro TH-cam videos. But, yes, you did get my attention. SNOW, YUK!!! Snow is not allowed here. But I feel your pain with all those cloudy skies. Great final image. It's always good to see the progress of others in their venture. Mine ... well, I shutter to reveal my earlier images.

      Hahaha thanks so much Pat! I wouldn't be embarrassed of your old images. It just shows how far you've come. Your current images are absolutely stunning! It's a great example to those just starting out the learning and growth in the hobby.

    Congrats on all that data mate, must have been awesome to have those clear nights, definitely looks like winter has hit now thought....it looks freezing! Those images are awesome, I think the Lion Nebula is one of my favourite targets and your image is amazing (as is your cave nebula) so much progression in those 3 years

    Love both images. I am not jealous at all about all those hours of clear sky you have been getting - no really I'm not. It's rewarding to look back at previous images to see how far along the journey we are progressing. Also means we have a great excuse to image targets over and over again. We are in T-shirt and shorts weather here as we enter into summer (although some clear skies would be nice). Great to hear from your sponsor of the video - he kind of looks familiar 🤣

    • @JoesAstrophoto
      @JoesAstrophoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    3 years - a Long Journey! Despite how modest your equipment can be, it's just amazing to progress. I only started astrophotography last year, before that I used to do visual and take photos with my phone held on the eyepiece of my small telescope! Great video as always joe!

    Great pair of images Joe I've never imaged the cave nebula before, it's taken me a lot longer to see any improvements over the years, but then most of the time I were using modified DSLRS with no filters so no wonder they were pretty bad lol.

    • @JoesAstrophoto
      @JoesAstrophoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much DDO! Having good equipment also helps a lot. I wonder how much better my images would look with higher end gear as well, but then also wonder if my own skill is ready for that next step up.

    • @anata5127
      @anata5127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoesAstrophoto I just more value and like resolution. Resolution, when you can magnify and see every string of dust.
      Low FWHM is a key. Real deal starts below 2. Very-very tough to achieve. I just cannot drop below 2.3 as yet.
      Integration time matters, but guiding below 0.5, seeing below 1” and image scale

  • @orionm4268
    @orionm4268 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is that blue dot a planetary nebula on the bottom left of the lion?

    • @JoesAstrophoto
      @JoesAstrophoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been trying to find out what that is, it’s really cool looking. It show’s up in Stellarium, but there isn’t a name associated with it. There is a star in the center so I’m guessing it is a planetary nebula, but not positive.

  • @orionm4268
    @orionm4268 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hope new moon clears away the atmospheric nebula and the sky quality will be better in the next 8 days or so
