What the heck are you talk about she accepted it and made a speech. Nobody forced her to get into acting in fact she made a good salary and bought a very beautiful house. My dad [white] fought in WW2 and came home to live in small apt, later AFTER I WAS BORN he did buy us a nice home..
Why are you surprised 😮 😲 😯 🤔 😐, do you not know about segregation, that black people had no rights 🤔 😒. You need to learn American history. People were enslaved in America 🇺🇸 😕 😐 the land of the free for white European only.
Don't forget that Oona O'Neill was younger than Chaplin's oldest surviving child (Oona was born May 14 1925, Charlie Jr was born May 5 1925. I know it's only a 9 day difference but somehow I feel like that's worse)
I could care less about the Chaplin marriage as long as it was legal. Time has proven that she was the love of his life and vis versa. Remember Jerry Lee Lewis married his thirteen year old cousin. That marriage was legal too, in the state of Mississippi.
Hattie did receive her Oscar on stage. She was seated pretty far away from the stage. She had a short Thank you. I think that she was very good in GWTW.p
I have respect for Hattie and how she paved the way for many black actresses, but how is her roll perfect? It's a misrepresentation of black people. We are not stupid or maids or yes people. We are talented, beautiful, and unique.
@@stephanierhodes675 The movie took place during slavery and her character was actually treated very respectfully for a slave. You would think she was a paid servant or something.

Addressed to the Writer(s)/Presenter of this Video: I am continually in a quandary as to why all those who write and present their respective narratives on (I guess) important people, which include the luminaries of Hollywood, have such an incredibly limited vocabulary in the area of descriptors. Why are the terms "icon" and "iconic" continually used in these numerous videos, when long ago they should have been recognized as cliches, as tired, worn-out words, that offer absolutely nothing to the written or spoken discussion here? Those who resort to using such terms demonstrate their stupidity and their lack of creativity, and inability--or lack of desire, to consult a thesaurus, which is a book a synonyms, i.e., a book of similar words, to find and subsequently use similar descriptors that can elevate/heighten their writings to fresher, more spontaneous, and, ultimately, more fascinating narratives. ~drs (01/05/24)
I too wonder why anyone would bother to say "iconic". It's come to mean nothing at all, worn out from overuse, and become bland. It is the mashed potatoes of accolades. One would hope that writers would have a broader vocabulary, but as is often the case in public discourse, one would be bitterly disappointed.
Song of the South as it was heavily criticized for romanticizing the slavery experience. The movie is not available on DVD, Disney Plus, and never aired reruns on TV and re-released in theaters.
Anyone can just love a classic movie!!!!!! I guess even back then anything can cause a scandal. I hope we have more top 10 scandals. I was thinking of the Top 10 Cartoon Scandals or The Top 10 Scandals of the 1990s.
Is that the late Great Christopher Lee narrating the documentary on Errol Flynn? My goodness that sounds even more glorious than the infamous scandal here.

Good thing i wasn't born in that decade, these seemed like some serious themes. Thanks, Emely, and a happy tuesday morning to you as well. Take care and God bless you, and greetings from Colombia.
They didn't let the black lady sit with the rest of the cast? God, that's sickening. I hope someone had the good sense to apologise to that lady before she passed. No-one should be treated like that.
It has been said that when Clark Gable hear that McDaniel would not beinvited hetold theAcademy he would not show up even hough he hadanomination. She was allowed to comebutgive a seat wayin the back by the cooking station.
For some reason, the Best Supporting Actor and Actress Oscars were not full-sized at first. Also, when I visited the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, I noticed that some of Walt Disney's Oscars (they're all on display in a large display case) look like hers, for reasons I don't know.

Really???!?? I just threw up watching this comparison in your video!!! 🤢🤢🤮🤮 Come on, Ms. Mojo…you can do better than this!!!! I mean, in this video you DARE to put Rachel Meghan Markle’s career in the SAME category as Rita Hayworth, AND, (oh my goodness), Princess Grace’s former big screen career before marrying royalty! Seriously?!?! RMM was not even the headliner on a cable tv show that she was actually being written out of at the time she became Mrs. Harry Windsor! She’s (based on her depth of acting portfolio) not worthy of being listed in this category! She gave up NOTHING!!! Absolutely NOTHING! She was fortunate to marry into the Royal family and she was given a beautiful wedding and the opportunity to do so many positive things for others! She threw that away but she did bring her husband (whose“I do” to RMM, elevated her celebrity status) to California so that hopefully his clout could afford her the kind of status she longed for and the kind those other two actresses (Princess Grace and Rita Hayworth) had actually achieved BEFORE marrying their royal spouses. Bummer on this video!

She did get to receive it. Gave a short speech. She had been

I had never heard of the Errol Flynn scandal. I feel bad for those brave young women who came through. I believe them.
Hollywood was constantly covering up Flynn's illegal escapades. Young girls and the occasional boy, apparently, if he couldn't get a girl.
Poor Hattie, not even being allowed to accept her Oscar.
In spite of that, Clark Gable stayed friends with her until death

Lila Leeds was "LIE-la", not "LIL-a".
