THE LORD'S FAVORITE
You're probably the only one, though it is hard to admit
That can save me
And I never liked to ask for a helping hand
But I do now
I look into your eyes
This hard, bewildered stare
Part of me wants to hurt you
Tear in your hair
But I don't do that now
A naive, open wounded exchange of stories that transforms us
Here
But I think I am the only one breathing on this planet
Tonight
The cheap sweat smothered makeup
Makes her face look as if dissolving
Yet full of grace
Here in the darkness now
One hundred Euro wine
I do believe in heaven and I do believe its time
Yes its time now
Five inch white high heels
I do believe in heaven and I do believe its real
And its okay now
Vast scarlet leisure
Immense blood pressure
Scatterbrained love lecture
Come here and be gorgeous for me now
After all I think it's evident that I am god's favorite one
And now is the time I should have whatever I desire
One hundred Euro wine
I do believe in heaven and I do believe its time
Faceless company
It don't matter much to me
Five inch white high heels
I do believe in heaven and I do believe its real
Dreamlike mirage haze
I'm positively god's favorite one
favorite one
favorite one
favorite one
I do believe I'm the lord's favorite one

Its crazy how much sloppiness they can get away with and still sound good
Sounding sloppy but in a good way is the whole point of punk music.

@@fredroberts8275 bro I get it lol
@@Jeremy-hx7zj The button didn't seem to work.
I prefer the word "loose" lol, but honestly, they're NOT *that* loose. Nowhere near The Replacements at their fastest n' loosest, for example. Wicked band, though. Had a track or two in my liked songs and just decided to dive into the whole album... absolutely brilliant, start to finish.
Elias looks like he's trying really hard to hide the fact that he's actually having a great time
just because he's surrounded by people having fun doesn't me he is himself
@@PeterGriffin-in5ut I know him and he is

This is one of those videos you're obsessed with watching but don't actually understand why.
The color palette is great and Elias acting is pretty mesmerizing. At least that's the reason for me.
Exactly!!!
I liked both of Iceage's albums before this, but their style of playing works so perfectly with the country rockabilly style of music that they're experimenting here that I'd have to say this is my favorite Iceage track to date. Excited for the album.
I'm glad to see that Iceage can keep itself a punk band at its core, but add some different influences to keep their evolution alluring and interesting.
I appreciate that they chose to go the way they really want, instead of just doing another "You're Nothing"-like record.
This video says they want to become famous and mainstream. Is that what you're referring to?
Christoffer13 Nothing in this video screams, "We want to be famous." Actually, I'm seeing the exact opposite.
Christoffer13 I don't see anything like that in the video.
Blake Beck Not directly but this is what a music video tends to look like when you hand over all decisions to the label. They get dressed up in trendy clothes to pose in front of the camera with pop-cultural stuff happening in the background.
*****
That's what I'm saying except for the "creative part". No band is getting a deal like they've gotten without people trying to influence them in one way or another and the label's job is to promote and sell as wide as they can which is usually through fashion and image. Why are you even trying to sound like you know anything about them?
i've had this song on repeat for months. this video too. elias is mesmerizing, and so is everything this band does. ugh
one of the best songs/videos/albums of the year.
This whole album took months to grow onto me. I finally feel it now. So. Fucking. Good.
I didn't like this song at first but after repeated listens I'm enjoying it. Definitely really interested to see what their next release will be like after hearing this.
Iceage just keeps on getting better
ive never seen such a beautiful man
dylan rieder
Buster he kinda does look like him
RIP
Yeah, they put something special in the water in Denmark. The girls are pretty legendary too!
yeah wtf is going on in denmark
I love Elias's vocals on this track. They add personality and they are incredibly distinct.
This is good. This band needs more promotion.
fuck, I can't stop listening to this tune. Those guys are fucking creative and Elias vocals are great here.
cant wait for the new album. liking what i am hearing so far
They were absolutely mesmerizing live at viva pomona!!
Just saw them tonight. Holy shit! If you get the chance to see them before they blow up...fucking DO IT
It was a tiny venue. It was like an explosion of energy. They're on fire
Where were they playing? I miss them last year. Greetings from Scotland..just one of great bands from 🇩🇰.
woah? iceage going country on me here? i like it.
They begin to remind me of "Sort Sol" - another danish act which started off as a punk band and then developed a Nick Cave'ish sound :-)
do you really? I'm very turned off by Elias vocals in here, and the transition I just can't get my head over it yet
I see them transitioning into something like the GUN CLUB.
I think you have another one to add to your "Albums I'm anticipating for the rest of 2014!!!" list, TND.
track review it man
Oh my...what have I found here?! Awesome stuff
Now that is a bloody good change in sound!
Love that dust-kicking, boot-stomping dancing. Hella cool!
Well this is a change of pace. I do admire it though. I've only listened to the song twice now, and I start to recognize some influences from the danish band Sort Sol. It may not be a familiar band to a lot non-danish people, but they sort of did the same thing on their third album, as iceage are doing now. Throwing away their punk and post-punk influences and start toying with other ideas, such as country rock. Not bad at all.
I'm a huge Sods/Sort Sol fan, so I totally agree with your observation here. Dagger and Guitar is one of my favorite albums, along with Under En Sort Sol. I'm really excited by this Iceage song and their (hopefully) new direction.
Can't believe they got Cali DeWitt to be in drag for this video, but he did direct, so it makes sense. So amazing. This is so so so good... I'm blown away!
either pure genius or strikingly off the mark, I can't decide...
Aquí estoy poniendo a máximo volumen está rolotaaaa 👌🤘🤘🤘
How did danish person hear good country rock music?
Great song by the way.
Holy Shitballs!! This is great!! Why am just now discovering this band?!
They just don't give a fuck. I love it.
I like that they didn't just do what everybody was expecting them to do. What's more punk than that?
I wish i had
enough cash to pour champagne
over my head and in my mouth at the same time
I can feel the nick cave's attitude but at the sane time it's completely different, full of hatred and rage, love it!
While it is cool that they are testing, and trying new genres, I sincerely hope they will find their way back to their roots.
Hahaha. I think it's cool that you are trying new things, but... please DON'T. Face it, holmes, bands evolve. It's great they aren't putting out the same kind of stuff every time. "Morals" was just as jarring when You're Nothing dropped a year or so ago. Get over it.
Benjamin White Let me rephrase.. I appreciate their attempt to reinvent them self, and welcome it. However this specific track is not exactly my cup of tea. Hopefully I will enjoy some of their other new tracks.
Taurussagacity I get what you're saying and I respect that... we all have our own cups of tea. I didn't mean to be harsh, I just thought it was funny that your comment was like, "I like the direction you're going in, but turn around!" I myself am hoping that their next album won't be comprised entirely of Rockabilly influenced songs, but more of a smattering of different ideas and influences.
Haha this is cool, wasn't expecting a song like this at all. Also no one said Iceage would exclusively play fast punk forever, get over yourselves
Wow the obvious sound change they picked for this track I think really helps what they lyrics are trying to portray, I honestly really fucking like everything that's going on with this track personally
it almost comes off like a tongue-in-cheek parody of the hedonistic american lifestyle through a country sound with a grungey punk dressing.. overall it's badass and I'm all for it
Back in his salad days, Tim Armstrong once invited the kids from the block to his mom's basement, and after a few 40's and coupla j's, they went to merrily squonk to some of that Violet Femmes snotty snot jamming the radio waves, for the fun to be had by all.
Why are some people so upset about new Iceage? It's catchy, smart, and it seems the band has finally caught on to how captivating a frontman Elias can be. And not to be the guy trying to categorize or pin down the group, but it seems the band has moved from Ian Curtis to Nick Cave as a node of influence. Which is really a lateral more than progressive change seeing as how Ian and Nick were contemporaries. If you listen to Elias's side project VAR and read interviews with the band, it's evident that they have loads of influences outside of punk. You don't have to make punk music to maintain a punk approach/ aesthetic i.e. Nick Cave. Fans should be excited about the bands evolution. Who knows, if we get lucky maybe they'll be doing their own Boatman's Call in 15 years
Merci JB 💜
Elias love u so much..Danish Prince takkkk!!!
Simplemente me encanta.
Country punk! I can dig it
I didn't know River Phoenix was still alive
Pf. Parecido . Cualquiera
Excellent video! The boys have been listening to Nick Cave...
Not Nick Cave as much as The Gun Club and Sort Sol.
which nick cave album are you referring to? I listened some but it doesn't sound like this.
Wouter van Heeswijk I think Alec Lambert is referring to Cave's outlaw/murder balladeer lyrics in general and not to any specific album. I agree in that there's no Bad Seeds music that sounds like this; although, some Birthday Party material has a definitely Rockabilly vibe to it ("Release the Bats" and "Big Jesus Trash Can" come to mind). "The Lord's Favorite" sounds mostly like a Post-Punk take on Johnny Cash's sound or like a tougher version of songs off Meat Puppets II. It's also reminiscent of Sort Sol's "Excalibur" and their cover of Kenny Rogers "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town".
Benjamin White thanks man, I appreciate your response
Yeah man, definitely here Cave in there
i don't understand whether i like this song or not....
This sounds like a Gun Club song. Pretty cool.
WHAT A TRIUMPH IS THAAAAAT
post-punk goes country?
After about 10 listens I'm obsessed. Hype for the new record
hondotwo it's called cow punk I believe. Check out the dead milkmen and mojo Nixon.
you mean the gun club?
Violent goes Femmes
Cowpunk. It's a sub genre
I'm listening to this song for 2 weeks but it's not very addictive
the lead singer is a stone cold hottie
yea, a wet dream for hipsters
@@Fabio-cf3ij lmao true, the musicians are alright, the guitarist is talented, the lead singer claims punk, but is a posh diva, no hate its just what ive seen
Tommy Wiseau singing for a Gun Club cover band.

Excellent musical growth. 😈
Good, i like it!
Motivation.
This is great. Different, but great. I just hope the new album is more like their last album than this though.
This is wicked
so good

I feel like he's been studying Nick Cave's moves

This is grrrreat!!! :)
Sooooooooo good.
reminds me of The Libertines!
oh my golly those boys are growing up, :,)
Actually, they just reached the level of fame where the company tries to "cleverly" turn them into sex appeals in hopes it'll profit more money. It's all seen before.
Christoffer13 oh really? i meant musically. for me it kinda looks like they got a little tired of making 1 minute songs-
Christoffer13 yes the corporations are going to make millions off of the exceedingly famous, popular, and marketable iceage oh yes but you saw through their clever plan
Blacklisted
There's no plan, it's just how the music busyness works. They get to look sharp because that's what sells. I'm just pointing out it has nothing to do with growing but apparently, ShotgunHeroX wasn't even referring to that.
I gotta admit though, they are getting better on their gear but Elias seriously gotta take singing lessons!
Blacklisted HAHAHAHAHAH
Damn, this song is fucking sexy.
Cash, Gun, Cave, ... i do believe in heaven.
RIP Silina ❣️
Beck... Violent Femmes... Pixies... dare I say Nirvana? Great stuff!
