They are also the same ones who ridicule model making, particularly model raiways. In the UK, the latter has been used for years in the media as a shorthand for nerd/ pervert/ any kind of oddball/ any kind of inadequate, and moreover it is a hobby to which most men will not admit to anyone for fear of being laughed at and judged.Apparently, if you work in the railway industry and admit to it, it's a good way to end your career. Whist ones hobby is ones own business, if you want to meet women you are a downer before you even start, and it appears to me tjat very few women have any kind of creative hobby at all, perhaps excepting perhaps playing a musical instrument or amateur dramatics.

Wealth and physical attractiveness can certainly change the tune of what is and isn’t attractive overall to women in a heartbeat.
Guys don’t even hide it. If a woman is attractive, they really don’t care about anything else, at least initially. Guys will make stuff up to justify getting with a hot girl even if she has nothing else to offer 🤣 Then you get older and even that isn’t worth it 98% of the time.

I'm 60. I have been building model cars since I was six years old. When I was in my 20's I had 2 women tell me I should "grow up" and stop building. The first threatened to break up if I continued. I said "okay" and she seemed happy. The next day her crap and makeup, etc was on the front walkway. I never spoke to her again. The second one said she was fine with it but not really. "I needed to grow up" After a year of listening to relentless nagging to get me to stop building, she went and destroyed a few of my cars that I built including one I did when I was 7 years old. I came home from work to find them in the trash. I packed my stuff and left. She said that she couldn't afford the rent without me, and she was sorry and wont do it again. Well you should of thought about that. Yeah. Red Flag. I finally found a decent respectful woman. unfortunately she passed 3 years ago, but never criticized my passions. That is the woman you guys want.

We men shouldn't be doing many of those things anyway. Video games are not a hobby, they are a distraction. That's why people play them, to distract. This is not emotionally or mentally healthy.
Men shouldn't play video games, but this fact has nothing to do with women. It has everything to do with the fact that video games are an emasculating waste of time, and we all know this. It's wild that men will spend hours of effort in a game to improve their situation in that fantasy life. But where's all that dedicated and focused effort on making your REAL life better?
Yes. Video games are a complete waste of time. Stop wasting your time with them, not to impress any female, but because you know that you should be doing more productive, constructive things, things that will bring palatable positive changes to your life.

I think that women vastly misunderstand video games (much like sports). There's proof in the statement if you actually understand it. It says @10:39 "Hobbies should involve actually doing, making or learning something"
    1) Video games - how is this not doing something? You are experiencing a creative fantasy world (in most cases) and doing things for enjoyment that you can't/shouldn't do in real life.
    2) Making something - did you know there are hundreds of games where you "actually make" something? Ever heard of Animal Crossing, Super Mario Maker, Minecraft, etc? You are making creative worlds/levels and making some really cool things.
    3) Learning something - can't tell me that you don't actually things from games. You can learn tons of things. Vocabulary, reading, strategy, etc (so much more). You can even learn rules of sports, art (making art - Mario Paint), and thousands more things based on real or fantasy settings.
"We don't like them because they are anti-social"
There are many different types of games. There are hundreds of games that are played online and with friends. Fortnight, Halo, Smash Brothers, and thousands more. All revolve around being social with friends and working as team(s), etc. There are solo games, and not all games are that way.
    "They are consumption-based".
Umm, all hobbies are consumption based. Movies? You aren't just watching 1 movie the rest of your life, you consume more movies. Shopping. You don't shop at a single store, or only buy a single item. It'd be like "shopping isn't a hobby because it's consumption-based and all you do is buy things". Like what? Can only buy a single top and that's it, because it's too consumption-based. Even "bird-watching" is consumption based. You aren't just watching a single bird the entire time, you consume watching hundreds of birds (over time). Any sort of 'collection' based hobby you consume by picking up more parts of it. Watching TV, you consume more of the episodes of a show - don't just watch 1 show's single episode and call it a hobby. Traveling - you don't just travel to 1 place all the time, (many) people enjoy going to different places. Being a foodie - you aren't consuming a single food from a single restaurant and being a foodie. Wine tasting - you aren't just having consuming only 1 bottle of wine for the rest of your life, you consume other bottles. Like this statement makes no sense.

We are no longer together and she was never able to make me tap, but the moral of the story is: sometimes making the girl you love part of the things you love is the fastest way to obliterate unnecessary criticism. My unsolicited advice: be yourself, do the things you love and try to introduce them to the ones you love. They might end up loving it as much as you do.

You either tap out, which immediately obliges the opponent to stop immediately, or you get choked out or have a limb injury or even end up with broken bones. We have separate hobbies too; I play guitar and race cars, she loves to paint and garden. We are Gen X, so maybe it's not a fair comparison to younger generations, as societal norms and hobbies were very different when we were growing up. My advice to anyone who wants to be married one day is, find someone who shares a hobbie or has at least some similar interests. It makes doing those things much more enjoyable when you are sharing the experience with your best friend and partner. The difference is that with movies and TV shows you can sit together on the couch and enjoy them, whereas with video games the experience that most women probably have is that their boyfriend sits hours on end playing online shooters with his buddies while ignoring her completely. Try playing a co-op game together instead and you might get a different reaction.

I was into multiple sports when I was dating my wife-surfing, skateboarding, hockey, volleyball, soccer, motorcycles, and cycling. My wife wasn't into any of that stuff but she took an interest in it for me, enough to just know something about it. To this day we both enjoy hockey and often go to Kings games as our date night, but in the beginning she wasn't into any of that stuff. She's a bookworm and I don't read. So, we have our own hobbies but we do things together like hikes, travel, movies, and such. Yet we have time to ourselves to do the things we love to do.

It's very good that you admit you made a mistake. Although too bad you had to learn it the hard way. I always thought it's very obvious that gambling is making huge money on risky people. Why would they want to give you the money in the first place? Money doesn't grow on trees.

I feel some of this comes from this crazy hustle culture that sees men as productive work horses and not much else. The comments you mentioned about hobbies being “unproductive” or “waste of time” were the biggest indicator. Our hobbies are something we do during our free time that we enjoy, usually on the weekdays after work. Then we make time to get out, be active, and do fun things on the weekends.
My fiancée and I have a pretty good trade off. She watches whatever Netflix/Hulu show and Tik Toks she wants while I get to game. We’re in the same room in the evenings and still take some time to talk, cuddle up, and connect emotionally.

I have to imagine this is ragebait knowing how TikTok and X is like a content form of ultra-possessed food. It's there to get engagement and make people mad. But even if I took it as is, the idea that every single thing I do has to consider a woman's attraction is the most life denying thing in the world.

  • @richardbaranowski

    Popularity = Slavery
I wasn't very popular when I was in elementary school. But giving myself a little credit: I never wanted to be popular. I saw the looks in the "popular" kids' eyes; they were miserable. Even their smiles were fake and I saw that. They were into all the same things I was into, but they were popular because they hid it and I was unpopular because I didn't hide it. They weren't allowed to be themselves because they'd lose all their friends if they did. They were afraid of getting beat up by the big kids. They saw me getting into fights all the time and getting beat up all the time and they took it as a warning as to what would happen to them if anyone found out they were anything like me.
In terms of these "unattractive hobbies" I would much rather be single and be myself than be with a woman and stifle myself. I don't play videogames much (I do play but not very often), but I do collect trading cards, which I guess is the same category as collecting comic books, but I'm not giving that up anytime soon.

I had this epiphany a couple of years ago. If you are living your life to be "attractive to women," that is a recipe for insanity. That means you are trying to please some mythical archetype that isn't even real. Just live your life as you see fit. Its such a relief! You should not do a damn thing to "please women," that is to say, people who don't even care about you, just what you can do for them.

Great vid. Me, 58 yo straight man going through a divorce (it sucks, would not recommend it). Successful MD. I am honest with myself, often brutally honest. There are 8 billion humans on this planet and we are all unique in some ways. For me, Video Games was an outlet of the stress of life. Realized slowly that it was becoming an addiction. So stopped it. End of story. My Ex liked K Dramas, also an MD. I would get into some of them, even enjoyed them. I didn't resent her for that, she is a different person from me. But she could not get over my near addiction to Video Games and intermittent porn binges. I tried hard to explain to her why. But she wanted thinks her way, Boss Babe wannabe. Human relationships are complicated and complex. Give and take is vital for a successful relationship. We eventually reached an impasse where we could not compromise. Unfortunately, this sometimes happens. Like your vids, almost like therapy from a different perspective. Great vid!!!!!

Well, it's no wonder I'm single... I play video games, collect coins, and enjoy birds. Sucks to be me I guess! Nope, I enjoy my life because I do things that bring me happiness. Ex wife had a serious problem with me playing video games. I only played while she was at work but I still played them. She equated that to "cheating" on her because I enjoyed them so much. Now I find enjoyment spending time with my sons and the occasional video game. Turns out I played them mostly to escape her nagging it seems. :)
