Thank you for posting this straightforward and entertaining video. On my way now to take cuttings to share and I'm looking forward to creating a large and extra happy pelargonium next spring. (Most impressive how you keep the subject within camera view while doing all of the work with one hand.) Cheers!

How old are these Geraniums Roger? How long did it take you to grow it to this size? What do you recommend to get it this size?
Have you planted any in the ground? Do they survive the winter?

      Hi, thanks for your comment.
I would guess that when this video was recorded (2019) the plants were around 4 or 5 years old from when I purchased them ... some about 5 o6 years old including being grown on a nursery...?
We kept planting them on into larger pots each spring and cutting them back in spring to encourage busy new growth, as shown in this video th-cam.com/video/uymcKvagYOk/w-d-xo.html ... the bigger the pot - the bigger the plant will get in my experience.
I have tried to grow them in the ground many years ago ... and they did ok initially but then our winter weather was too much for them ... possibly the cold / frosty weather and the wet spells of weather too ... it doesn't help that a lot of our soils around hear are wet / clay based and so do not drain very well ... which any 'tender' plants will not enjoy being cold and wet. But by growing them in pots we can use a well drained compost and then they can stay outside well into the winter and I bring them into a coldish glasshouse when the weather become really frosty .. perhaps around December here in south wales in the UK.
HOWEVER ....not far from us just a little further south into Somerset / Cornwall / Devon on well drained soil I have seen them growing outside all year round ... so it does depend a little bit on where you live ... where in the world are you living?
      Thanks
      Roger

I plant them within my rows and on corners, if any of my brassica species (mostly eggplant, borccoli/lamewhitebroccoli, and my gourds/vine veggies) and I'll prune it giving me more worth and rubbing crushed leaves on the bottom leaves or other chewed leaves early on stops the bugs as well as anything. My hypoestes looked like swiss cheese and were 3" wide and I mulched and tucked bruised leaves into them once a week and they are ready to split into many more.

Hi - thanks for your comment - it just takes about 2 years, a big pot, some good fertilizer and an annual prune around about now - here's our video about the spring prune and feed (they also need some protection from cold winter weather) th-cam.com/video/uymcKvagYOk/w-d-xo.html

Hi, sorry we are not really set up to do that…unless you live near us here in South Wales (there are legal restrictions for transporting plants more than a few miles)

If you called them pelargoniums around here, people would go huh? It's confusing enough for them that they are scented, lol!

You're confusing joe public by referring to them as geraniums.

Thanks for your comment - they are generally known as scented geraniums around here, we also refer to them as Scented Pelargoniums in the video - is that what you would call them?

If you comment this underneath every video that obviously doesn't interest you, your life must be boring indeed!
