HI If i recently just renewed my current vehicle registration and if i order a personalized plate now will i have to pay the registration fee again or would i just pay the fee for the new personalized license plate.
so we pay $150 up front and then it’s $90/year in addition to registration? do we renew at the same time as registration? how long does the plate last?
if you do a 5 year term, its $90 upfront and 90 a year after that. plate lasts as long as you want it to as long as you continue renewing it. they'll line up your registration to expire the same time the plate would towards the end of your term.
I love the burger plate, it’s so cool! 😎😂 I really appreciate how you went through the process on camera. I had a question; when I bring my title for the car to the DMV do I have to be driving the car that I want the plates applied to or does it not matter if I am driving a different car?
Ha no it has to officially come from the transportation dept or myplates. Com. Otherwise it's illegal as hell. How they enforce it, I'm not sure. But I know I wouldn't risk it.
This leaves me wondering how often I can get new plates as far as pricing goes, I wanna collect them. If I choose the 5 year option, how would it play into my next purchase. Probably better to choose a one year purchase for each plate I buy because I plan to buy multiple within a year… 🤔
All the videos I see only show one plate on the back of all these vehicles, no fronts??? We need to have two for one car in Texas. So my question is it sold as a pair or just one?
i got a question i see they want my license plates and registration sticker to get rid of them but does that mean i have to get my truck registered again or how does that work ?
I'm buying my first car from a dealer in the U.S. . I was told the dealer is going to register my car but I'd like to order a custom license plate without personalized letters/numbers. How does that work ? Do I have to tell the sales person to order my plates from myplates ?
No. You'll get the plates with the car. Once you get em (the metal ones, not the temp ones), you can get them swapped for the custom background. So if you want to keep the letters that they give you, you need to wait until you get your real plate, and then custom order the plate on the myplates.com website (in Texas) using the same number/letters. Otherwise you can go ahead and order a vanity plate with custom letters and a custom background now and just swap it out whenever that one comes in and you get your final plate from the dealer. Does that make sense?
Basically, because it's privatized, the dealer does nothing to get you custom plates. You basically just have to order it separately using the letters and numbers you're given.
@@vanessarp4284 you order the plate on myplates like any other product. You choose your county office and they ship it to them. Once it comes in, you go to your office and get the plate. There you pay any fees and tell them what car you want it on. You need insurance and registration and be the person on the registration.
Also, when you pay registration yearly with MyPlates yearly, will dmv know to charge you both fee's yearly or only registration if you have a 5yr MyPlate..?
I haven't done multiple years but my understanding is that they know you've paid for the multiple years. My friend has it and he's never had a concern that he's mentioned. Just pays registration only, not the vanity fees every year.
I’m getting a brand new f150 in two years after I trade in my Nissan rogue and once I get my new truck I’m getting me custom plated for it I already know what I want to put on my custom plates and I’m also getting another car with my truck
theyll send you an email before your last payment/year before expiry. for example, if you do a 5 year term they'll send you an email about renewal on your 4th payment
I wanted to do order some for my new truck but the thing is, once the dmv get the plates and I’ll go, they gonna ask me for my driver license? I don’t have one lol just a Mexican passport, with that still can get a custom plates or nahh?
Yeah I'm 100% you need a driver's license of some sort and you have to prove ownership of the vehicle, with license and some sort of registration and maybe insurance. You driving without a license?
I just bought a new vehicle and still have my dealer tags until my plates come in. Can I order the custom plates now or do I have to wait until the dealer gets my standard plates in? I was told by the dealership I would have to mail back the standard plates.
No that's not true. You can order them now. I ordered them as soon as I bought a new car because I take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks to show up. And they can sit at the DMV until you're ready to go in and do it. They're not tied to a car till you go register them. At that point you just keep your old plates and put the new ones on. No need to do anything with them.
@@Emadificationsi plan on buying a vehicle within the next month, have you figured out if you can order one and basically have them hold it until you buy said car?
@@strike.22 it looks like you can. You can order a plate and it just sits at the DMV till you pick it up and associate it with a car. You choose your county and it goes to your main county office.
No idea honestly. Not sure what the process is to transfer it. I assume if you don't re register it, it goes back into the system as available and someone else can order it.

Good share though.
after paying 175 for the plates do you still have to pay 75 for the registration?
Yeah the plates are a private company in cahoots with the DMV. So they get their $ and the state gets their $
If you get a background plate can you get the same numbers if you already have a plate?
Yup. You just order the background. Slightly cheaper than getting custom letters also.

I have disabled veteran tags I wonder if I can get the carbon fiber plates. DV tags are toll exempt but ugly ah
