Im a Québécois from Canada and Thorgal was one of the first comics I start reading when I was young. The blend of old viking theme and scifi was mindblowing for the young fox. Im hype to know more about the game but I kinda want to see more before I back the game. Look good tho and I don't have a polyomino type of game in my collection.
I used to read Thorgal in the library during lunch break in high school. Lovely low fantasy, filled with violence at times. Thorgal is a hero but he’s also just a guy.
hello there, looks really interesting, and with great componants. Quick question, is there's any "rest" action ? to heal back your health after a fight ? isn't too harsh losing a game directly by losing a character on a bad "roll" or "polyomino draw" after investing 2hours of play into it ? Just wondering if there's enough planing to avoid such a loss condition or is "real bad luck" might ruin the experience and the game ? Cheers
It’s been a few weeks since we played, but I don’t remembering it feel too left up to chance. Like many games like this, if you play in a risky manner than doesn’t allow room for downturns, you might end up feeling some of the pain intended in an experience like this.
@@meeple Hello, thanks for the answer ! ;) would you tell this is close to a Robinson Crusoe on the difficulty level or a bit less punishing ? Is the "timer" feels right or really hard and sometimes you're like sure to lose and that the last round won't change it no matter what you might do during it ? How about the overall rules ? Would this be easy to get back in after a few months without playing it if you played it few times in the past ? And last, how do you like this game and the polyomino aspect of it ? i think i've never seen a polyomino mechanic used as combat and health / damage pool (and even explorations) (i have to try that planet unknown thus ! ^^) i'm really close to back it.. but i'm a bit affraid about the weight of this one as i'm more of a comfort player. cheers
Thorgal is drawn by Van Hamme a Belgian comic artist in story and drawings ( look for the serie Jeremiah a post apocalyptique storry). The first publicher is Le Lombart situated in Brussels the capital of Belgium. Later a Frensh publicher dit the distributian in the rest of the world bet yes, its comming from Belgium just like Tin Tin wish is from Casterman and Herge ( Georges Remi) was from Brussels.
Wondering how replayable each individual scenario is. Does replayability only comes from the event cards? It seems that once you solve the puzzle, and you know which upgrade cards are available, it is rince and repeat...
The puzzle is always complicated by the event cards. And playing it with different characters will offer different paths too. I think most people will only play each scenario once or twice but there will be many scenarios.
Any particular reason I would want to play Tetris with a pasted on theme? It seems to me the designers were like: 'Hm, I know! Let's do a Thorgal game! It's gonna be so cool!' 'Yeah, let's do it! What mechanics shall we use?' 'I don't know. But it's gonna be cool coz I read Thorgal when I was a kid!' 'Yeah, just imagine. This theme has never been explored!' 'U-huh, so are we going to use dice or cards?' 'Cards are a must. Dice are bad. Let's use those tetris tiles to cover enemies and other stuff on the board!' 'Cover enemies with tetris tiles?' 'Yeah, dude, it's totally thematic!' ....
Like straight up when I got A Feast For Odin, I was pretty much 100% like... can I just viking w/o patchwork plz? But...... after giving it enough time, woa. Woa. It would take me prolly too long to sing the tetris part its praises sufficiently. I mean still prolly not for everyone. But o man it really "can if you give it a try" add such an awesome layer. For sure it is worth giving it a solid chance if your interested. I was very surprised but it did take time. At first I was def thinking the same as you.
Correction: At 15:20 you’ll see a placeholder photo left by accident. This is not a photo of Thorgal components, sorry for the mistake! 😅
Thorgal is still the best comic series I’ve read.

In my day, we just played Tetris.

The comic is from Belgium not Franse.
Exactly!!!
Sorry! The wiki told us France!

Belgium indeed. Always fact check Wikipedia, 😅
@@antonichristel6430 Nope. Thorgal was penned by Van Hamme, and drawn by Grzegorz Rosiński - an amazing Polish artist.
Campaign Man vs Meeple Season 4 from KS - ANY UPDATES??!!

The scenarios / map is a book, like Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion?
It is yes
