So agreed! Shame on that Mom!! Her daughter is absolutely beautiful and looked amazing in that dress. I pray she stood up to Mom and chose a dress she loves and forget mom!
My heart breaks for the beautiful bride to be. Her mother should be ashamed of herself for being so selfish and self centered!!! This is her daughter’s wedding, not the mother’s!!😡😡😡
Tell the mom she has to come to the wedding with a sack covering that face because it's to chubby and not perfect so sack over face or don't come to the wedding!
i guarantee that narcissistic piece of shit doesn't care how badly she crushed her daughter's moment, in fact i dare say that was her goal. this bride is a PROFESSIONAL CHEERLEADER and her mom is still nitpicking her to death and controlling every aspect of her life. i hope the bride returned without her shrew of a mother and bought the dress she loves.
What a selfish, small-minded mother. Sorry, but no sympathy for mom at all. This is not her day. It is not HER dress. It is her daughter's day and her daughter's dress. Awful..
As the bride had her own money to buy her own dress, I'll agree in this case. It's maddening the bride wasn't mature enough to say Yes, to the Dress. The NY version of the show would have whipped out a wider bling belt to melt mommy's stone heart, whether or not the bride kept it later.
Totally agree 100% when will these mums get it of their head it’s not their wedding or there dress you would hope that they would stop butting in and just support their beautiful daughter
Sheer jealousy! She cannot stand it to be outshone by her beautiful, younger daughter, who has a flawless body, gorgeous smile, and awesome personality. Mom knows she is old and starting to show the years.
“Please tell me you like it.” That statement from the bride nearly had me in tears. The bride cheers for heaven’s sake. She has a perfect figure. Anything short of a brown bag is going to look great on her. Shame on that mother!
It is a lie to say Yes. I did not like the dress either but not because of the bride’s figure. Just did not like the dress itself. Anyway, do not lie, but don’t criticize either.
Women are not supposed to have their hip bones protruding past their lower abdomen. If they do then the woman is clinically underweight. There's a uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes in there taking up room in the abdomen. Men don't have those and that's how so many men can get that hips sticking out past their abdomen look.
No, Mom. Choosing the dress is not all about the dress - it's all about the bride. And it is DEFINITELY NOT about you. This bride has made it absolutely clear that dress #1 is her choice. You don't have to agree, just tell her that you love her and that she looks beautiful (which she does). You don't have to say that you love the dress, but the way that you voice your opinions is so mean & demeaning.
Thank you for the perfect example of a narcissistic mother for all of us to learn from. The one thing that a narcissist can’t bear is to be exposed in public for who they truly are. Now friends, relatives, and acquaintances know. The sadness on both of those girls faces spoke volumes. That was the Mom THEY knew, now the world knows, too.
Those fixed smiles! Mom’s triumphant grin as she messes with her daughter’s heart, while daughter placates and walks on eggshells trying to smile through the pain. 😢
06:54 Mom was playing the "mama knows best" card like wtf?? It hurts to see both sisters cry. You can really tell that body-shaming was not just a one-time event in their house.
The dejection in her voice at 3:07 broke my heart. She seems like such a sweet girl and she looks absolutely gorgeous in that dress. You can tell that all she wanted was her mom to say she liked it (even if it was a lie). I just want to give her a hug!
Especially when the daughter does "sexy" for a living. Maybe she's not really comfortable showing so much skin at work, but she gets paid to look good. Maybe she wants to look like a bride on her wedding day and not like a sexy cheerleader. This mother is just weird. I wonder if she had a sexy wedding dress?
@@spriggy4382 Kid is a generic term for related to a parent, but more colloquial than "Children", but you might also think of "Children" as "OMG, she's not a child." Stop being daft on purpose.
The mom says she can't lie about her feelings. Perhaps she can consider her feelings about the bride, rather than her feelings about the dress. The bride, her daughter, was absolutely beaming as she wore that dress. Seems her mom's ability to see her daughter was obscured by her own obsession with her preconceived notion about a dress.
She's a cheerleader. She's a pro at maintaining a sunny expression. Not a slam, mind you, simply a fact. Heck, I wish _I_ could have maintained an expression like hers when I used to go shopping with my mom, who was at least at bad as Kari's. She could reduce me to tears within 20 minutes of walking into a store. I did _not_ take her with me when I shopped for my wedding outfit. Oddly, she agreed it was perfect when she saw it.
Notice the distressed look on the sister's face. She knows exactly what the mother is doing and hates it, but but Mom's refusing to listen to anyone and keeps body shaming the bride.
I don't get why mom doesn't realize SHE SHOWS OFF HER BODY 24/7 FOR HER JOB! She doesn't want that for her wedding. It's not like she's putting on a moomoo or a huge cupcake dress, she just wants a little more breast and butt covered up. You know this has been a constant thing because older sister cried FOR HER. She's seen that throughout their lives and she was sad to see that it still continued.
That mother is jealous of her daughter. Her daughter is absolutely gorgeous and looks beautiful in everything. What a horrible mother, this is not about her
Kari, what a sad situation. After your wedding, move as far away from your mother as you can, and, I know you'll treat your daughter with respect and love instead of control and domination.
The bride is absolutely beautiful. The mom-maybe she’s due at the optometrist? No one is seeing what she is seeing. The bride is absolutely gorgeous & seems so precious. Good luck to you, sweetie💜 You are beyond stunning! Rooting for you in Kentucky, lovely lady💕
That bride would be gorgeous in anything. The way the mother acted will forever be in the daughter’s memory. As those events add up, the daughter may choose to walk away. I hope someone walked up to the mother of the bride in her dress, patted her abdomen or behind and stated something derogatory. Some sort of karma…
Looking back on old photos of myself, which I rarely do, I was a very attractive young woman with a great figure. My mother smashed my self-confidence about my appearance whenever she could, and I took it to heart just like this gorgeous bride has done. Mom, the dress isn't important, your relationship with your daughter is, so don't be an idiot. It's a narcissistic trait when mothers try to live their lives through their daughters. Being a daughter of a narcissist, you can never be good enough. This bride-to-be was clearly devasted and the mother was utterly indifferent to her feelings. It made my skin crawl. I hope this young woman will one day be able to lay down boundaries because she's going to need to. Her sister will be her ally and I'm sure her future husband will be too.
that mom seems jealous of her perfect-looking and oh-so-sweet daughter. what a shame for that sweet young lady. glad she's getting out from under that woman!
She won't ever be "out from under that woman" unless she learns to stand up to her. She needs to take herself, and her marriage, out from under mama's thumb.
After the show aired and she saw it, I wondered if she began to set some boundaries with her mother. As I watched the show, like most of the comments here, my heart went to her as Kari's enthusiasm depleted right before our eyes 😢. I pray she got the dress of HER DREAMS, but most importantly, STARTED HER HEALING JOURNEY & ESTABLISHING BOUNDARIES WITH HER MOTHER 🙏🏼
This literally hurt and hurts My heart 😥😢💔 and it triggered Me to My CORE when her mother said that to her about her stomach. I AM LITERALLY CRYING RIGHT NOW!!! I am looking at tear stains on My blanket as I watch this... Mom is supposed to follow her daughter's glow and happiness and be a support. P.S- Her stomach looks flat from the device that I am watching this on... I'm just sayin'? 🤷🏽♀️
💙The first bride SHINED in her dress, and it was stunning on her figure. I didn't like the bottom of it, but it's not for me, it's for HER, and she totally had that "My Dress" GLOW!💙
I’m going with my daughter for my Grandaughter and I’ve learned so much from watching all these. I will be encouraging and supportive , which I always try to do
When she speaks to her mother in a baby voice, along with her child like body language it makes it clear that she does not yet feel like an adult in her mother's presence. Whether she is scared of her mther's reaction to her becoming a grown up, or something else, I hope she is able to act as her adult self in her relationship with her husband.
Probably from the rural deep south. Parents are very much the authority figures in these families. Mama knows best. It's not like New York where they can just tell mama to shut her trap and the bride will be happy. You'll probably find that her husband will make the decisions and she'll be fine with it.
I can't believe this woman!!!!! she honestly thinks that everything is about her!!!! She should be ashamed of herself for crushing her daughters moment!!!!
1- Mom should want her daughter happy. Instead, adding disappointment hurt & stress. 2- doing it right, groom will be surprised. I think in that moment the groom sees his beautiful bride, he’s not critiquing lace, beads, etc.
How awful that mother behaved. Nothing but shame on her actions. Completely bereft of any support for her child. Total ignorance on display front and center.
The mom didn't have to love the dress. She had to love her lovely daughter who loved the dress (and who, btw, looked beautiful in it). This mother has never learned to have any emotional generosity. She should be ashamed!
Honestly the first bride is stronger than me, if my mom body shamed me at the moment my entire mood would shift and I wouldn't be able to even continue shopping.
This show is full of awful moms, but this one just won the contest of worst human being ever. Don’t know how her daughters turned out so sweet and kind…
When you go your whole life being the victim of a narcissist (the mom) like this poor girl. unfortunately you learn to only be complacent and make others happy and you have no voice. We become people pleasers and become too afraid of conflict or to go against the parent that is a narcissist. I know from experience 😢
Wow this episode got me heated. I never comment and I feel so bad that this mother treats her absolutely stunning daughter this way. I love Lori how she just knows how to cut the crap when she said "she doesn't love it. Release it mom! Bye!!!"
Then never ask your mothers for anything the rest of your lives, you are on your own. Can't play both sides of the street. That's playing with serious fire in some families.
@@fayeglin835 I felt so badly about his episode, I looked her up on Facebook. Her chosen dress had a lot of the elements of her dream dress here, but it was slightly more fitted. She look exquisite, but most importantly, she couldn't have looked happier. So, it all worked out in the end. 😊
1st bride *has a beautiful smile!* I love how she’s anti-pageant. 6:56 mom says that a dress is gonna effect her for the rest of her life? *Shes only wearing it once!* She’s marrying a man; not a dress 🤦🏼♂️
2:58 "I'll put on a corset". She would put on a stinkin' corset to please her mother to make her flat stomach look more flat. Yeah, right. RUN from your mother into your husband's arms!!! You are beautiful!
It's her day mum!! The mum says 5hat she's all about the dress... but just look at your daughters face with happiness and contentment in that traditional dress.... that should be enough! 👰♀ ❤️
She got a similar one to dress #1 and she looks beautiful. This woman could wear a sack and be elegant in it. You can tell she is modest and humble from how she carried herself.
Mom you are causing a separation for life your precious child will never forget this she is going to carry this with her forever young lady it's not you your mother has a problem shame on her
My goodness. Who's going to be wearing the dress the day she gets married? Apparently the mother doesn't know. Ill bet she was a mean girl as a teenager.
Her daughter literally has one of the most healthiest looking and fit bodies I’ve ever seen. How much more of a waistline does she want? Her waist is so teeny tiny!
Look, you cannot lie if you do not like the dress. That is deceit! Now, you don’t have to criticize it either. Just say, “It is not my favorite, but you must pick the dress you like best.” In this case, I was not a fan of the dress either, but I’d encourage the bride to pick HER choice.
“I can’t show feelings that aren’t there” You don’t have to show them. But you DO need to say something along the lines of “It’s not my style, but I love that you love it.”
Oh man my first reaction to mother basically body shamming her was "screw you lady". This girl should come back without mom. Its why if I ever even bother with a wedding I'm not taking my mother with me dress shoping, her style and mine have always differed and I have always hated the type of cloths she would pick out for me. There are times when moms need to take a step back and remember it is not their day, their day has passed.
All I have to say is I'm glad the bride has a sweet sister that tried her best to get her mom to change her mind. The mother needs to stop seeing her daughter as a pageant girl and start seeing her as her daughter not something she can rule and tell what to do. I'm glad I have a sweet kind mom. This poor sweet girl. I'm glad u have a sweet sister to help u through this. 💕
I understand what you’re saying but the sister also didn’t effectively stand up to the mother. She voiced her opinions meekly and got steamrolled as well. This is NOT, NOT, NOT a negative comment about the sister Al all. The daughters have been conditioned to be deferential to their mother. It’s really very sad.
She’s so beautiful! Seems to be beautiful inside and out. She deserves “her” dress!! I’m mortified at the mom, feel like crying for the bride. I hope she got the perfect dress that she chose herself.
daughter needs to realize that it is her wedding.her mother can have an opinion but she needs to please herself first and tell mom to take a chill pill.
Ok, the mother is annoying, BUT she is right about how that dress does NOT flatter the girl's perfect body! Thats simply true. I mean she has such a beautiful shape, and that dress does not do her silhouette justice. Sorry.
How awful of that mother to say that--to body-shame her daughter like that! Her daughter is GORGEOUS!

@@karenstieglitz3443 thank you for your update
1st bride *has a beautiful smile!* I love how she’s anti-pageant. 6:56 mom says that a dress is gonna effect her for the rest of her life? *Shes only wearing it once!* She’s marrying a man; not a dress 🤦🏼♂️
That Mother is a Bully (shouldn’t have brought her along), that Bride looks BEAUTIFUL in both dresses, the first one looked amazing 🤩
I gasped when she said "this is not flat" while pointing at her stomach. It's not supposed to be flat when you're healthy!!
Yes it is
2:58 "I'll put on a corset". She would put on a stinkin' corset to please her mother to make her flat stomach look more flat. Yeah, right. RUN from your mother into your husband's arms!!! You are beautiful!
Such a beautiful bride. How could her mother crush her like that?
I see this all the time on every single episode of Say Yes to the Dress.
She looks beautiful in everything.
You know she's made comments like that for the entirety of that sweet girls whole life
It's her day mum!! The mum says 5hat she's all about the dress... but just look at your daughters face with happiness and contentment in that traditional dress.... that should be enough! 👰♀ ❤️
The mother is a big jerk.
Welcome to another episode of "I Forgot It's Not My Wedding"
She got a similar one to dress #1 and she looks beautiful. This woman could wear a sack and be elegant in it. You can tell she is modest and humble from how she carried herself.
Thank you. I'm glad she was happy.
😢wow! what a cruel mom! It is her daughters' wedding not hers. Mom is too much here..let her go on her own way.
Mom you are causing a separation for life your precious child will never forget this she is going to carry this with her forever young lady it's not you your mother has a problem shame on her
I’d never speak to my mother again if this is how she treated me. Terrible
That poor girl. She's so sweet and kind and very beautiful. So is her sister. Glad they atleast have each other
My goodness. Who's going to be wearing the dress the day she gets married? Apparently the mother doesn't know. Ill bet she was a mean girl as a teenager.
I know it’s quite the cliche to say “if mama ain’t happy…”. A great mama is happy when her babies are happy. ❤
Just say, “It is not my favorite, but you must pick the dress you like best.”
In this case, I was not a fan of the dress either, but I’d encourage the bride to pick HER choice.
“I can’t show feelings that aren’t there”
You don’t have to show them.
This is why I eloped- didn’t want my mom to dig into what’s wrong with me and everything I was doing. That mom is awful.
Just sad 🤦🏽♀️
I had a tummy tuck 2 years ago and WISH I had that body!!!!!!
Ok, the mother is annoying, BUT she is right about how that dress does NOT flatter the girl's perfect body! Thats simply true. I mean she has such a beautiful shape, and that dress does not do her silhouette justice. Sorry.
