In 1969, I passed the examination for an Amateur Radio Certificate including Morse code, written exam, and oral exam. I was issued the call letters VE3BHX at that time. My activities in the hobby waned due to building a new business and I allowed (reluctantly so now) my station license to lapse. My question is, now that I am retired and would like to become active again in the hobby; Can I simply apply for a New station license with new call letters. I understand that the Radio Certificate portion was good for life. I reside in Ontario. Any information and procedure would be much appreciated.
Hi Berry! That's a great question, however I haven't a clue! But I'm sure if you contact the Amateur Radio Service Center directly, I'm sure they could get you sorted out! Looks like the number is: 1-888-780-3333
Over at least the past 2 years i have contacted by email a local radio club in Chilliwack at least 4 times but have never got a reply . Whats up with them anyway and how is a person supposed to get licenced if they wont even reply . Can i just study on line then take the exam without them but use some other examiner .
Maybe just no clubs in Alberta offering the course. You don't have to take it within your province. It's same certification/test/material for all of Canada.
The first thing you need to do is get a hold of your local Ham Club. They are the best to learn and you will be using their repeaters if you get the licence. If they don't know you they will shut the repeater off or tell you to get lost.
@@shermanfirefly5410 Nope, Not in Canada. You dont even need to be a Citizen! The ONLY requirement is having an address! (and passing the exam obviously!)
You should switch around your playlist so the vids are all in order. ;)

Sorry you are having that experience! You can definitely self study and find an examiner to do a test.
That website rac.ca doesn't list nothing for Alberta, but everywhere else, why is that?

Is there a age limit for the license?
( because I've heard that in certain countries, you need to be 18yrs old in order to qualify for such license)
