    I started watching Simplynailogical because the humor reminded me of Jenna; but i stuck around because of the uniqueness of Cristine as a person.

    I think a lot of it is down to age too. A LOT of kids online do not understand boundaries or right and wrong so they do anything they can to get noticed by creators, even if it means harrassing other people. I see actual 10/11 year olds online who are just obsessive over creators. Parents really need to step up in my opinion and correct these behaviours or limit their internet use until they can understand. So much negativity online could be avoided this way.

    I think it's really important that we as viewers and consumers have a responsibility to remember thay creators actually read our comments and also to stop pitting creators, especially women, against one another in our minds.

    • @mamesmck5236

      Yes, that the creators are real people, with human emotions.
      Like that thing going round "you never know what's going on in someone's life. Be kind." It extends to the internet too.

    I’m gonna be honest, it’s also incredible annoying as a subscriber of the other creator. Just the past month I felt that every time I watched Alex French Guy Cookings series on fried rice. Every time I went to the comments to read what other subscribers say about this video it’s hundreds of comments UNCLE ROGER NEEDS TO SEE THIS. Not about the incredible high production quality and Alex‘ great content, no, all I see is comments about somebody else I don’t care about. And I tbh don’t want to care about because his fan base just turned me off.
    It’s the same thing with a popular skin care guru. There is a reason I don’t watch his content, stop spamming BUT IS IT H*** APPROVED?!? everywhere, I DONT CARE IF IT IS, other creators opinion is just as valid as your idols.

      I hate that. I also find the incessant quotes of funny lines or moments being typed out, with hundreds/thousands of likes.
      Or "Who ever you are reading this, I hope you have the best day 💕" just trying to get liked. It's so odd to me.

    • @GenieGin13
      @GenieGin13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not so much about uncle Roger's actual fanbase really saying that but more about uncle roger's reactions and commentary being memes. So actually there are a lot of people who mention uncle Roger in passing or in jokes but they don't really watch his content, they just know to regurgitate lines from uncle Roger or comments from other commenters. Especially when it relates to a certain fried rice reaction video

    • @khaxjc1
      @khaxjc1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mames McK plenty of people just leave quotes or reference a moment cause its an easy way of leaving a comment to add engagement which supports the channel and creator in regards to the algorithm. Not everyone has a review or thought they feel like putting out there but they want to show support. Its simple and it generally makes other people happy (as evidenced by the likes) to know they weren't alone in liking something or can remind them of a good part of the video. So why not? As for those leaving general positivity or well wishes to others if the comments being left are numerous enough odds are only a handful if that will ever see the comment so why not put it out there on the chance someone sees it who needs the cheer. Especially if the other comments are primarily negative or the video was a heavy topic.

    Thanks for sharing this. I have become a fan of your nail polishes. They are my preference. One time I was on another company's website looking at simular nail polish but different. People were saying they liked the nail polish of that company better then yours. I was tempted to write a comment and say Cristine started the whole holographic thing and that Holo Taco was better. But then I changed my mind. I had this overwhelming desire to defend your brand of nail polish. But I stopped myself and thought people have the freedom to choose what brand of nail polish they like better. They can have a different preference then me. Who am I to tell them they should like your stuff over someone else's. Now that I saw this video so glad I didn't try to endorse your company on another companies review page.

    I really love this video and how it shows that age and the experience that comes with it really matter when it comes to dealing with complicated and perhaps sensitive topics such as these. I'm fairly young, just entered college, and though I've always fancied myself as more mature and thoughtful than my peers, every day I learn about how dumb or immature something I did was, and how I could have responded to that situation better. Huge kudos!

    is "blew off" synonymous with fart in Canada like it is in New Zealand cuz that was a good immature chuckle

    • @spiceandmice9135
      @spiceandmice9135 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      not in the part of canada I live in, usually it means to ignore or skip doing something, but it also (not in the context Cristine used it) can be related to blow jobs 'blew him off,' though that would still usually mean that you ditched someone. So it does have other meanings here, just not that one as far as I know.

    Am I the only person thinking that if on every post your getting someone says "@simplynailogical look" they're trying to get a big content creator to acknowledge that you're awesome...and maybe try and use that to grow, see if you can reach Simply's audience, see if you can get Simply to mention you in her own post because her audience is bombarding her to actually look because you made "Simply nails" or reach out for a collabe.
    Look at this person as someone your audience believes you share something with. It's a pie graph, the comment is the intersection, if more of "simply's pie" knew about you could you grow your audience?

    • @khaxjc1
      @khaxjc1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No your not the only one the problem is when people don't leave anything along with the tag to show support for the content and creator it doesn't come off that way. Its the same as only leaving a critique. They may love a thing but if they are only pointing out what they see as wrong about it that love isn't coming across.

    I feel like people commenting "fake holo" don't have malicious intentions (some of them). If I were to comment it, it feels more like an inside joke. Like haha we all know, and someone replies and you find another person who likes Cristine!
    However, it's like sharing an inside joke around someone not in on it. So they feel like you're laughing at them or being mean to them. Inside jokes have no place "outside" of the "inside"

    Her own brand of cringey. Yes. Here we are gaining power to be our own brand of cringey. Cristine often talks of how she is pretty lucky that her community is nice ( compared to the rest of the Internet). I believe that is because we mirror her and just by showing us what we can do to be a good community we all became a good community.That’s a responsible and real influencer.

    I remember a very small creator behaving poorly and blaming you (on several platforms) for a few fans saying a certain polish wasn't holo on one of her videos. She threw the word holo in the title for a reason (to ride your coattails for views) so I'd have thought she would have been thrilled at the prospect of getting more than 100 views and comments but she couldn't take it and flipped out like a petulant child, then left the platform. 🤷‍♀️

  • @AllthePrettyPurses
    @AllthePrettyPurses 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Yeah, no, I don't understand people being upset that you were being tagged on their content. Those tags are still comments, still count as engagement, and still help them in the algorithm, so that they can be seen by more people. Maybe they wish that people would comment just to talk about their own content, but the reality is a lot of those people just wouldn't comment at all if they weren't commenting to tag Cristine, so the creator is still getting more engagement than they otherwise would. The more tags, the more they are benefiting from the increased engagement. And personally, if people saw my content and thought it was good/interesting enough that they really wanted an established influencer to see it, I would be really flattered.

    I had to hear about this more than I’d like to on forums. I wonder, could you have done some thing? I think you could have gotten a little creative. Understanding your audience should have given you insight into creating a video about the rules of engagement on social media. Let’s face it we’re all learning.

    The fact that you can't stop every single individual fan from being toxic on the internet does not absolve you from the responsibility to take steps to at least mitigate some of their behavior. Posting on Snapchat, Twitter, stories, or whatever has nowhere near the same impact as talking about it in an actual video. Making excuses, throwing up your hands and saying "I'm just too famous, sorry" is pretty lame, dude.

      Agreed. A simple "Hey tone it down guys." in a video would have helped a lot because most of the innocent fans would listen to her - they're being annoying for her, after all. It's really no different from a company telling their customers not to use a product a certain way because they hear stories of misuse. I've seen other creators do it, too, so it's not like addressing an issue to your audience is a new concept.
