Had a lot of fun learning more about Shalom Harlow while doing this video! Added some more fun facts in the description and I'm determined to get to all of your reaction requests! Which supermodel should I check off next?!? Looking forward to your comments and don't forget to subscribe to become a part of the moment 💗
Malcolm, you ask "which supermodel should you feature next"? Have you considered Carolyn Murphy? Estee Lauder's "face" of the late 90s & early 2000s, and replaced Liz Hurley. She's sort of the "girl next door" who is FULL of versatile looks. She's grown so much, too over the last 25 years. Like Shalom, she's now about 50, and still modeling, very much in fact. She, Shalom & Amber V are also very good friends & recently did a great fun spread in one of the featured big magazines with Amber & Shalom.
So I have met her twice and she was so sweet both times ! She’s taller than people say at least 6’ ish . She actually had some hardships because she was “ too gothic and tall “ but I think she was so elegant and that’s why she was always booked .
I'm glad to hear that, I could tell she was very intelligent in interviews I've watched (and obviously very creative), she seemed to have a kind soul, glad to hear she was sweet!
If I'm not mistaken, Shalom, like Naomi, had dance experience (hence the "looks effortless" walk). Both her parents are artists ( hence the ease with creative transformations) Harlow always brings "a presence" to any runway. But she also did some amazing editorial work, too.
Several people people have "beat me" to the punch. Shalom actually did train to be a ballet dancer though early on, she realized she was way too tall for ballet. She talks about it in an early interview with a Vogue editor. (If you search for it, it is about 20 years old) and she's featured in the interview with some pet finches in the background, and she actually talks to the little finches on camera (which warmed my heart.).
Not sure if someone comments already, but the clip at 2:28 where Shalom Harlow is holding a video camera, that was for the 1995 movie Documentary "UNZIPPED". It's a behind-the-scenes look of Isaac Mizarahi's 1994 fall collection (the creation of the line & the runway show). It features the top Models at the time & the introduction of Shalom & Amber Valletta. At the time, I have never heard of them two, until I saw Movie (in the theater). If you haven't seen the movie, you should check it out, it's so much fun!!
Omg!!!! That is so cool! I’ll definitely check that movie out. I think someone mentioned it at some point but thanks for the reminder. I have a few Isaac Mizrahi shows I want to react to 🙌🏾💯
Shalom is one of the BEST runway girls on the catwalk. Thank-you for this video. Some of her best shows were Mizrahi and Rifat Ozbek. There is one runway show (I hope you or I can find it) that was absolutely amazing theatre from Shalom. Mizrahi's show where she has her back turned to the catwalk attendees, you see her as a silhouette fluffing her hair as she opens up to Dusty Springfield's Son of a Preacher Man --- AMAZING!
To be honest with you Malcom Shalom is not just any supermodel but also a Performing Artist in short she is An Art herself! These supermodels are the actual Muse of these highly talented Fashion Designers!❤
For the spring summer 1995 Todd Oldham show all of the models got air brushed t shirts. Nadja wears hers right after Shalom in the show. Todd was working on the line in Texas and the state fair was going on. He saw an air brushed t shirt stand and got one for each girl in the show that year.
She was the one of the first of the "Waif' crop of models that came onto the scene in the mid 90's. She was a star from the start and ruled the runway with her best friends Amber Valetta. She put her stamp in the modeling world and became one of the greatest of all-time. She is one of the few Supermodels from 90's that is still walking the runway today...along with Naomi and Eva Herzigova.
Yup! I did a video on her reacting to some of her iconic walks in the 90s. She’s still best friends with Amber to this day and is godmother to one of her kids! 🙌🏾💯
6:54 she also seems to have as another signature move of hers to do a second turnaround during her walks. Like an emphatic statement to end her walk. Not sure I've seen others do that. She also looks similar to a young(er) Isabella Rossellini.
Oh she is a GODDESS!!!! Lately I've been OBSESSED with all things Galliano and you should definitely check her out in his shows, she was a showstopper and certainly theatrical, she closed his iconic show with the oversized chairs/madame butterfly themed show, ugh can't remember the year, anyway it was EVERYTHING, seriously, I was gagged!!!! Amber Valetta has really gotten my attention and also Eva Herzigova (watching her in the Dsquared2 shows, oh that's a MOMENT), Jessica Stam, Carman Kass, the 90's were insane, the models, the shows, I don't remember Isaac Mizrahi's clothes being as good as they were.....ok I'm blathering on, just found your channel and I'm loving everything, subscribed can't wait for what else you have to say.....the 90's and early 2000's, just wow and I'm floored by the genius that was Galliano, sad how addiction can affect a person, but it doesn't alter or change how brilliant he was, like how can one man think up ALL that fashon!?!?! So glad I found your channel ❤❤❤ Edit: wanted to also add a heartbreaking note regarding Shalom that speaks to her resilience and SUPERMODEL status.....she had to take a 10 year break from modeling to fight a near fatal illness, I think (but could be wrong) lyme disease or if not that, an illness brought about by exposure to black mold.....she could have died, had to leave modeling but fought back and here she is better than ever....the photo shoot of her dancing in those crazy pants was her comeback moment right after she returned, she's brilliant!!!!
Omggggg YES I was reading about that when I pulled that footage of her!!! Felt right to show her glorious comeback ✨ that was crazy! I also love that Shalom and Amber are still best friends to this day. Also thank you for your fabulous commentary!!! I’ve gotten SO many Galliano requests so that will be coming soon. I’ll also be circling back to Dsquared2 shows with Eva and added her to my list as well 🙌🏾💯 my fave runway walk of all time is Naomi in Dsquared2 fall 2003 “I have a plane to catch!” So iconic!!! Anyway, thanks again for all the lovely words! So glad you found my channel and enjoy 💖 I appreciate it!
I hardly ever see it featured anywhere which makes the show really underrated. One of my favourite shows of all time and the clothes are just modern, colourful, fresh, bold is Viktor & Rolf SS2009 digital show. Every model in that show is Shalom Harlow. The clothes, the walk, perfection!
Thank you for a great Video! BTW, Shalom at Lee McQueen’s (the paintsprayed white babydoll dress) is absolutely Classic, iconic moment in fashion history.
Thank you so much!! 😊 and yes, that runway moment is ICONIC! She was the perfect model for that because she’s so performative. It was so dramatic and fabulous! 🙌🏾💯
4:00 The "metallic" silk blue look is Gucci Fall 1995 by Tom Ford. It was Ford's first collection as Gucci's new creative director. Also, of all the Shalom clips shown, I'm surprised they left out her Chanel RTW S/S '95 moment when she lovingly flings a plastic Chanel bag into the audience and photographers in the first two minutes of the show. If you watch it on YT, she's wearing the light-blue, cropped jacket and short, black skirt around the first minute and a half of the show.

ohhhhhhh... I LOVE Helena... an extraordinary beauty... From the OG supermodel era... one of Versace's girls along with Naomi, Cindy, Linda, Christy, Claudia and d'em... I still hella follow her on IG.
I love her! At times I felt her walk looked forced, but I attribute that to probably having to wear funky, ill fitting shoes. I’ve heard horror stories about shoes models are expected to walk in down a slick catwalk! 😳
I'm going to sound like a groupie here, and cliche but Naomi is & was QUEEN of the runway. Lol, I don't know if Naomi's or Shalom's walk is better. They each have such character & confidence; each is different from one another. Kate Moss has the same confidence & swag but can't pull off a walk like Shalom or Naomi.
According to Shalom, she was also a dancer therefore understanding position, core, and the ball of her feet very well. Her moves illustrate that. She is a fellow CANADIAN, but I was never that into her.
OMGGGGGGGG! Wait!!! Haha this is so interesting!! Now I wanna react to that Moschino show they did together! Also seeing something about an alleged affair?!??? Omg lol I am floored. I had no idea!!!
Please please PLEASE do Pat Cleveland and her daughter Anna. That whole family is fashion. Daughter is a model, mother was a model and grand mother was a fashion illustrato and singer. Like come tf on!!!
Amber went to hs there but dropped out to model and her mom took her to NYC. She got her GED when she was in her late 20s. Kinda proud of her for doing that when she has absolutely no reason to have one , but she did it anyway. Most of what you read about her are lies or cover and she does not like people to know anything about her life. So I occasionally do this and it gets back to her.......not much info but it really gets under her skin. I suggest you contact her and ask her , feel free to use the name I have used here. Worth a shot isn't it? lololol
Ummmm no thanks lol I’m not an investigative reporter so I have no interest in trying to contact her. I’ll just enjoy her runway walks and go off what I read on the internet like everyone else lol
Phewwww she sure is!!! Idk if I’d be able to keep up! LOL but I can definitely do a deep dive video on Renaissance looks I’ll circle back on this 👀🙌🏾💯🩷
I know it's a little dated but I would like to see you cover katoucha or Anna Nicole Smith. Katoucha is so underrated and Anna was never supposed to be a model. Shalom is always my queen though.
Katoucha is absolutely on my list!!!! This is my first time getting an Anna request though- interesting. I’ll consider that! Definitely wasn’t supposed to be a model 😂💯 and Shalom is 👑 for sure
Girl you miss her best iconic moment when she hit the white girl in the dress obvi it’s scripted but yes it’s her most iconic moment I think it’s Versace
Haha yes from Todd Oldham spring 1995! I put it in here while I was talking, just wasn’t in the video I reacted to! But I’ll react to that full show soon! 😊
He's trying to walk last like Yasmeen. She bob her head throws her body all around and just doesn't do it as graceful, effortless and natural as Yasmeen
I believe her interview was in 1986, before her massive rise in the 90s. But I don’t really see it as complaining anyway, just her pointing out that a portion of that interview now makes her uncomfortable. Toni Braxton was also honest about Oprah making her feel uncomfortable with a certain comment in an interview that happened many years ago. It happens 🤷🏾♂️ even to famous people lol and I don’t see it as an attack on Oprah either. Just being honest about their feelings in that moment.

Yes!!! Shalom started as a dancer! 🙌🏾💯 makes sense. And LOVEEE her editorial work. They were of the age when models were MODELING!
She trained as a ballet dancer which I believe she credits her stunning performance Alexander McQueens number 13 runway to.

I love Shalom, thank you!!!
Me too, and no thank YOU! 🙌🏾💯💖
Shalom is rocking!!!!!♡
Btw what about Kate Moss??
Shalom is fabulous!!! You know what, I don’t think anyone has ever requested Kate. I’ll add her to the list! 🙌🏾💯
Cool!
She at one point was a abllet dancer and that explains her wonderful movements. She was often paired with Amber Valleta
Yes! They’re still best friends to this day! 🙌🏾💯
AMBER AND HER POLKA DOTS.....LMFAO!!! LOVED THAT COMMENT!
Lol!!!! 😂😂😂 thanks for the shout out!
You are TOOOO much!!!! ❤❤❤♥️"Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!"
So I’ve been told 😏😂😂 appreciate the love 💗💗💗💗💗
Love it!!!!

“Look at poor amber, she just knew them lil polka dots tweren’t gonna do nothin” had my f’ing weakkkk!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
...and You're late for the board meeting...AGAIN! 😂🤣
Ahahahaha I’m not gonna lie, that’s probably my favorite part too 😂🤣
@@MalcolmSoariesIf Shalom were my boss, I would probably be like Emily with Miranda: "I love my job...I love my job...I love my job".
@@rickbloke17CR ahahahahahahaha!!! Loveeee a devil wears Prada reference! 😂🙌🏾💖🤣
She was my fave. can watch her all day long. Iv'e heard her pronounce it Shalum
She was and is so fabulous. An icon! And thanks for the pronunciation note 🙌🏾💯💖
According to Shalom, she was also a dancer therefore understanding position, core, and the ball of her feet very well. Her moves illustrate that. She is a fellow CANADIAN, but I was never that into her.
Yes she did start as a dancer! Also did some acting gigs as well, a very well rounded talent! I’m a Naomi person but I adore Shalom’s walk.
@@MalcolmSoaries It is cute for me. I also design and I like my sophisticated big hair and sultry walks like Nomi or Yas- just as a woman should be.
Look up the connection between Shalom Harlow and Dita Von Teese. So interesting you mentioned their resemblance...
OMGGGGGGGG!
I cannot BELIEVE the iconic Pat Cleveland was not on my list already!! Will definitely be circling back to her and Anna absolutely 🙌🏾💯
You did Shalom Harlow now you’ve got to do her bestie Amber Valletta
Yes I will circle back to her but I feel like her walk got way stronger with age in her later years!
Yes it did
Shes everything to me
I definitely see why! 🙌🏾💯
Anna Wintour said Shalom Harlow is the best cat walker. And then she said “Naomi” too.
Oh wow. Yeah tbh Shalom is everything.
Subscribed! ❤Shalom❤ could you please cover - Nadja Auermann?
Aww thanks! 💖 love Shalom. And Nadja is absolutely on my list!! 🙌🏾💯
Love it!
Thank you for the love!!
So blessed I found your channel omg loving your content and reactions and loving how u speak. I definitely liked subscribed and shared honey❤
Omgggg 🥺 this was the nicest compliment! Thank you so much!!! 💖🫶🏾
Canada had some amazing models, Yasmeen, and Linda comes to mind.
Omg yes!!!
Met her in Tulsa..Amber graduated high school here..
Oh get out really! That’s so cool 🙌🏾💯
OH order of the phoenix
That killed me 😂
Ahahahahahahaha 😂😂💖✨
will you ever make a video about Carla Bruni? I think she was GORGEOUS in the 90s.
Carla is definitely on the list, such a striking beauty! But I saw a recent headline about her that wasn’t great 🥴 lol so maybe later this year 🙌🏾💯
Really take a look into the 90's.
Loooove 90s fashion 🙌🏾💯
OMG she does give the Dita vibe
Right?!? Haha ok glad someone else saw it too
@@MalcolmSoariesthe way she walks. Her hair loving the vixen look.
Can you do a video reacting to all of the looks Bey's serving on the Renaissance tour after the tour is done? She's adding new looks each night.
Phewwww she sure is!!! Idk if I’d be able to keep up! LOL but I can definitely do a deep dive video on Renaissance looks I’ll circle back on this 👀🙌🏾💯🩷
Edgy 90s Model 🤘🏽😎
Yes!!!! I loved her walk!
Mama, I’m requesting the reaction video for 90s Isaac Mizrahi. Xo
It’s coming!!! I have Mizrahi on my list for sure! 🙌🏾💯
Now models are so bland and expressionless. I miss the 90s!
Right!!!!! 🙌🏾💯
You MUST review Claude Montana, agent, Lanvin and you will love Issac.
I have these written down!!
Such a Beauty
Absolutely 🙌🏾💯
I remember Ester Cañadas from this era
She’s on my list!
Do one on Linda Evangelista. She was also a chameleon! 😍
Oh Linda is definitely on the list!! 🙌🏾💯
Anna’s Guess ads were stunning. ✌🏻
Do a Leon Dane reaction 😎
Oh my lol that should be interesting! I’ll add him to the list
Toronto Girl - through and through
🙌🏾🙌🏾💯💯
The Blue is Tom Ford for Gucci!!🙌🏿👏🏾👏🏾💜
Omggg would love to watch one of those throwback shows 🙌🏾💯
amber never graduated from high school. she got her ged when she was nearly/about 30
Lol Amber’s bio says she went to Booker T. Washington in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Probably didn’t graduate from there, but she def went there lol
@MalcolmSoaries she dropped out
To model. Her mother took her to new York city
@@SuperDave01 yes someone in the comments went to high school with her while she was there.
Make a video about Natalia Vodianova
Just added her name to my list! 🙌🏾💯
Shalom is the definition of "girly pop"
Absolutely!!! 🙌🏾💯
YOU MUST DO Vivienne Westwood. Alexnader McQueen John Galliano for the drama
Editing a Westwood video right now actually!! And definitely have Galliano & McQueen on the list! 🙌🏾🙌🏾💯💯
oouu do Dalma Callado. Brazil’s first supermodel
Just added her to the list! 🙌🏾💯
Dalma is the BESTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do yasmeen ghauri
I did!! I have two videos on Yasmeen!
Sagittarius fire 🔥🚒
Ooh yessssss didn’t know she’s a Sag! 🔥🔥🔥
Shalom eat it, eat it, Harlow eat et eat et eaetttte
I liveeeeee for Shalom’s walk!!!
@@MalcolmSoariesme too…. Your video was too short 👀👀lol
He's trying to walk last like Yasmeen. She bob her head throws her body all around and just doesn't do it as graceful, effortless and natural as Yasmeen
To each his own! Yasmeen was iconic but so was Shalom!
I think Shalom could look multi ethnic too
Oh absolutely 🙌🏾💯
Can you be my stylist? I am not a rich discoverer, but I respect others work, so... would you think about it?
I’m so flattered that you’d ask! I’m not a stylist by trade unfortunately. If that ever changes though I’ll let ya know!! 💗
How do you feel about Cindy Crawford recent remarks about her Oprah interview and feelings h objectified?
Her 90s were iconic, why complain?
I believe her interview was in 1986, before her massive rise in the 90s. But I don’t really see it as complaining anyway, just her pointing out that a portion of that interview now makes her uncomfortable. Toni Braxton was also honest about Oprah making her feel uncomfortable with a certain comment in an interview that happened many years ago. It happens 🤷🏾♂️ even to famous people lol and I don’t see it as an attack on Oprah either. Just being honest about their feelings in that moment.
