I first discovered I was bisexual when I saw Yasmeen Ghauri circa 1992, at my mum's hairdresser's salon, reading one of his copies of VOGUE. Yasmeen was on the cover. The eyes. I had NO idea who this gorgeous creature was. catwalk models were all gorgeous in the 90s, but Yasmeen had the physique of a Greek statue. A goddess stepping out of her shell in Versace. I always thought Yasmeen was a princess or royalty when I was a pre-teen, because she oozed grace. Then I saw her in her infamous Versace lime green dress looking like a goddess. Tiny waist, long long legs, broad athletic shoulders. Floral and cherry dresses with popping colour were her schtick in all the Vogue and Cosmopolitan magazines I would go through. Just couldn't get enough of her over all of the other 90s models of the time. Then I discovered she did ALL of her make up. I was shocked she never went into make up as a career since modelling wasn't her first love. Following Yasmeen, I would say Shalom Harlow was a captivating lolita (especially the epic Saint Laurent show she opened a couple of years back, check that out!) - and of course, the lovely Monica Bellucci. Here in the Mediterranean, Bellucci has always been our queen. But to me Ghauri was always first. A siren. Brunette power.
