@Malcom I found a ShortReel of Yasmeen I thought you would like. She has hundreds of shortreels. I am astonished how much she's being appreciated now! She deserves it th-cam.com/video/zVViJ8XaG1k/w-d-xo.html
Right!!! Because when I first discovered her I was like wow so she just dipped in 97!! Lol now she’s back on Instagram though which is cool! But yes I love the mystery of it all 💗🙌🏾
These 90’s fashion shows bring me BACK!!! And I am so, SO happy that people have rediscovered Yasmeen. I TOTALLY loved her back then was so sad when she virtually fell off the face of the earth. Every few years I used to try to look her up on online to show people who she was. Now she’s all over TH-cam… everywhere! We did not forget her and I’m tickled pink that people can appreciate her and show their love for her again.
Yeah! People are posting Yasmeen all the time now! I’m so grateful to be able to enjoy her footage before she retired to be a normal person 🤣 she is on Instagram now!
Ive always heard it pronounced GAH-ree. 🤷♂️ Both Naomi & Tyra in separate interviews said Yasmeen was the best walker on the runway. Tyra called it “the walk of life”. Yasmeen also famously ALWAYS did her own make up, being the only one designers trusted to do it herself. She taught Tyra how to find the best light even if that meant the ceiling lights she would lie on her back and do her make up that way. Cindy was next-level famous, then you had the Trinity that loved the spotlight and always got it, then the models who dated famous men, Yasmeen dud not fall into any of those categories. You never saw her except in shows and magazines, she never let fame get a grip on her. A handful of designers would always put their most expensive clothes on her because of her dramatic walk she could ‘sell the garment’. PS…she’s finally on Instagram.
Yasmeen had a way of knowing EXACTLY how to show off the garment. Whether she had to straighten her poise up top, or swivel them hips or tame them down a bit, there wasn't anything that she could not wear!! I love her!!
Amazing walker! Her body is unreal and so unique. Her waist is tiny and her shoulders are broad like a comic book heroine. And her legs! Thanks for the vid btw
Yasmeen had said it’s all in the clothing, the attitude ..whatever she wears, I think she channels it .. no doubt her walk changed to,suit whatever she was in to,embody it and become it .
I actually saw her in person in the late 90's when I worked at Paul Smth. She is very, very, slim and curvy at the same time, if such a thing is possible Her hair was past her shoulders, and full, and she was wearing a shrunken tank top with a low waist pleated denim skirt and leather strappy gladiator sandals, you know ,90's girls looks. She wasn't as tall as she appears on film/video. Just a naturally sun kissed complexion, and the tiniest waist line I'd ever seen on a human being. All the guys working in the shop froze, the customers got quiet and stared, mouths open stuck on stupid. She had that kind of magnetism.
Wowwwwwwwww!! I so appreciate you sharing this!!! I felt the fabulous nostalgia surge through my body while reading this comment. I didn’t know this about her height! How incredible that you saw her in person. You probably have storiessssssszzz
I have to say, I have always been a Naomi & Shalom fan for the runway/catwalk. Yasmeen was a favorite in Print but now that I see her walk, wow! There's so much I missed from not viewing the big shows, and relegating my time to flipping through look books.
You mention her walk change and that’s one of my favorite things about her. Throughout her career u can see how the walk evolves and how she in a sense adds new ways to diversify her walk. 93-95 is my favorite seasons of her walk. It was so refined and versatile and by 95 she was absolutely THEE powerhouse on the runway!
Great. But NOTHING beats her 91 shows….De La Renta, Chanel (that year was ICONIC for the brand) & Versace. She had her hair above her shoulders and blown to the fashion gods for max volume….couple her look w/the clothes that year. Nothing comes close for me. I also love her in the Prada shows. Their atelier is VERY sublime and she could work that intimate space like nobody’s business.
When Naomi walks you"re just watching the walk, , but for me Yasmeen's was next level. When Yasmeen walks you are watching her, the clothes and her walk. She always brought a natural feminine movement to the clothes and the whole combination was seamless
What I love about Yasmeen walk is how she gives life to the garments she’s wearing. Her poised yet serene walk make her garments speak. There’s always and interesting story behind Yasmeen’s walk.
She was stunning. Valentino said "her beauty is really unbelievable." She's my favorite model to watch, her physique was unmatched on the runway. Karl Lagerfeld also made an interesting comment about the walk that she created back in the day and that other models followed.
I love Tyra, I love Naomi, I love Kate Moss, Brandi Quiñones, Karen Mulder... But YASMEEN IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST LEGEND Please do one on Katoucha, Sonia Cole, Beverly Peele, Veronica Webb
I've been obsessed with her since I first found out about her. I'm not even that much into fashion, but sometimes I just need to watch some of her runways, just for the beauty of it. How is someone born with those proportions, that face and carisma it's just insane. Truly a goddess.
People who are now in their 40s remember her very much. She was the goat. She was the one who transmites the enwrgy, the glamour, the 90s vibe. still today it gives me nostalgy of my teens when watching Yasmeen. Thats why the older people just laugh watching the paeudo models today... Theu all should be ashamed.
I don’t get anything from the models today!!! There are some talented walkers, but the 90s are where it was at when it came to real runway modeling! 🙌🏾💯 that’s one of the main reasons why I enjoy reacting to 90s shows more, definitely.
I am completely obsessed with your channel and your reactions. It is so wonderful to finally hear someone express what I've been feeling since I've become enlightened to to our 90's goddesses and designers. You bring these videos full circle. The universe is now complete. Do not stop.
So I think I can shed some light with the fascination and ADMIRATION a lot of us have for Yasmeen. She was one of the first women who was not white (Naomi being the other). She did her own makeup for the first couple of years. They basically only styled her hair. Naomi has spoken about how frustrating it was back then to be a POC because there just wasn’t any high end makeup companies offering foundation and powder shades that were for them. Also, we LOVE Yasmeen because she was also the first Muslim supermodel. She broke a lot of barriers quietly, because she wanted to only be the attention when she was walking or featured in an editorial. She said she wanted modeling to be a job, but her personal life to be normal. She was smart (like Naomi) seemingly beyond her years. She just exudes class and style no matter what. But she was down to earth, which can’t be said for a lot of the other models of her day. She will be forever one of my inspirations regarding makeup and walking the runway. I do love Naomi, Christy, Cindy, Linda, Tatiana, Claudia and Kate, too. I graduated high school in 1990 in rural Alabama. I’ve always loved fashion, even back when I was young and in the closet. Thanks for your videos, I must found your channel because I was looking for new Yasmeen videos, 😂! Great job on your content and I’m subscribed now. Cheers! 🥂
Oh my goodness!!!!! I am loving your comments so much and thank you for this amazing insight into Yasmeen. It’s been so cool learning more about her work these past few years through my channel, since I never really did growing up (graduated HS in 2007 in suburban New Jersey lol). Definitely get the down to earth vibe from her too, but still SO glamorous and high fashion. Shes a GOAT for sure. It’s now her and Naomi for me, when before I was really all about Naomi. But as you can see I love all the girls!
@@MalcolmSoaries You’re welcome! Thanks for your channel, your love for 90’s supermodels is infectious! I still have moments where I strut down the hallway to Ru’s Supermodel song or one of the Vogue remixes from Madonna (Strike A Pose Dub)! 🤣 I’m in school to be a makeup artist at age 52. I was in the medical field and the stress gave me a heart problem that almost killed me back in November. So I’m finally doing what I have always wanted to do, which is use my creativity. I also want to volunteer my time to help women who are going through cancer, to get their confidence back. Sorry, that was TMI for sure! I promise not to be that long winded in the future.
@@LetsGoSomewhereFun WOW! That is wonderful!! Thank you for sharing that! Definitely was not TMI and you can be as long or short winded as you want here 😂 appreciate the kind words 💖
Geeezuzzzz…. This woman is mesmerizing. Striking in every which way! Thank you for giving us more Yasmeen, Malcolm! Can never get enough of this beauty! Someone posted a vlog about a month ago with some new Yasmeen footage that appears to be in HD quality. There channel name is, Runway Collection, vid is titled, Yasmeen Ghauri/Walk of Life. If you’ve not seen or reacted to it, I recommend it. ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
And I must add that Yasmeen did her own makeup. After asking the makeup artist about the look for the show...Yasmeen would then create it flawlessly. For every show, editorial & ad campaign. She was also very close friends(and still is)with Naomi, Helena, Veronica Webb & Karen Mulder......the designers often paired Yasmeen with either Naomi, Karen, Veronica or Helena....the way they each could mirror each other's walk and the synchronization of the hip movement, hand gestures and just it all. You are correct, the SUPERS did it on a scale that will never be seen again. There is hope with: Imaan Hammam Rianne Von Rompaey Luna Bijl Alex Cossani Kiki Wilhems Yasmin Windaljum Alexandra Elizabeths Cindy Bruna Anok Yai Adut Akech Aweng Choul Sora Choi Sherry Xi Vittoria Cerrutti Mona Tougard Precious Lee Paloma E. Kaia Gerber Gigi Hadid Cara Taylor Binx Walton Teddy Quinlivan Stella Maxwell Irina Shayk Joan Smalls Candice Swanepoel Mica Arganraz & Alton Mason. (Congrats on 1K subscribers....love yr content & I too am a Naomi stan....till the end)
Yes!!!!! I agree!! Thank you for pointing these out 🙌🏾💯🙏🏾 this was also an older video of mine, we actually just hit 5K! 🎉 there’s also some more 90s runway content on my channel. Thanks so much again!
There were 2 Runway Legends of the 80s who continued to work top shows in the 90s - Katoucha and Sonia Cole. Gurmit Kaur was also a Top Runway star of the time. She was Indian. It was a great time for Runway models of color.
Yes yes yes! I’m so glad you’ve “ discovered”Yasmeen Ghauri! She’s my favorite. 90’s runway rules; you just can’t touch the girls of that era- but especially Yasmeen Ghauri.
You really can’t!!!! The 90s runway girls were one of a kind!!! Can’t believe I had never known or Yasmeen, but so glad that I am now educated on this queens work and legacy. She was everything! 🙌🏾💯
Thank you so much for featuring her, several times. I remember from her VS days she was an exotic supermodel. I love that she's half Pakistanian and looks it. I think we got tired of the blondes of the 90s, and the left over sort of "Christy Brinkley" tanned things from 80s, with the athletic bodies. Yasmeen screams long, lispy "Scheherazade" beauty. So refreshing.
Yasmeen!! Effortless class. The Givenchy perfume bottle Organza is based on her body, apparently. In ads, she is dressed akin to a Greek Goddess and she poses next to the hourglass bottle, showing off the similarity of the two figures. 90s fashion scene rocked!
Yasmeen and Naomi are my top two catwalkers. Both undeniably beautiful. Its really really really difficult to put one over the other in the 90s as they are both unique and amazing individually. For me, however, for the 90s era I give Yasmeen the edge...but Naomi gets the crown for longevity.
@@MalcolmSoaries Awwe, thanks Malcolm 🥰. I love your videos, keep them coming! ❤ If your interested, check some of the 80s girls like Sonia Cole and Dalma. She had a lovely walk. Another great catwalker from the 90s was Helena Barquilla.
My absolute favorite look was that Yves Saint Laurent black two piece from his 1990 spring/ summer collection and it is a crime that the footage is rare if not non-existent.
I remember her from back in the day and she never got the recognition she deserved until now it seems because of social media . If you watch the 90's shows like Claude Montana , Versace , Herve Leger , they put her in the best outfits of the show . If you listen to her interviews she is extremely intelligent , down to earth and very humble . She posts on Instagram and still looks beautiful with no work done or make up on , just her natural self .
Yes I saw her debut on Instagram very exciting. She was very impressive all around - unfortunately without the prominence of social media back then and her early retirement, it was probably difficult to get her proper recognition but it’s nice that we can all circle back now.
@@MalcolmSoaries I am the same age as her and from Canada where she is from originally and she did not get the recognition she deserved back then and because of social media she is getting it now. She was in the all the top shows, in all the major magazines and advertisements, she was a favorite of Gianfranco Ferre and was in many of his advertisements and campaigns but in her homeland of Canada she was not as celebrated as her Caucasian colleagues. I grew up in the era and remember. Truth!
@@MalcolmSoaries Exactly! I am so happy to see the shows now with women of color one right after the other , natural hair, no hair, every shade of skin color and not just one or two. I hope it continues.
@@rajjie100 I always suspected this to be the reason, as like many, I did not know of Yasmeen Ghauri until recently through social media. I was quite surprised to discover that a woman of South Asian decent and appearance had acquired supermodel status, even when the odds seemed to be against her. Yasmeen expressed feelings of resentment toward Canada in one of her interviews. She said that Canada did not support her in her modeling journey or even celebrate her when she became very successful. Likely, in the Canadian context, she was overshadowed by her contemporary, Linda Evangelista. I very much enjoy the shows where Yasmeen triumphs over Linda such as ODLR SS1992.
The 90s was the time of the real and only supermodels. I love to see you react to the top 10 90s models, those outside the trinity. Also, there were some amazing girls of different ethnicities who walked the top runway shows you can focus on. I also have a soft spot for Stephanie Seymour, a horrendous walker lol but my gosh she looks like an Italian goddess in Versace shows.
Not horrendous!! LOL!!! Loved Brandi Quinones as well. It’s not easy finding really good footage on a lot of the girls from those days, but I definitely love highlighting amazing talents of different ethnicities!
Stephanie Seymour was one of Gianni Versace's muses so he hired her a lot even tho her walk wasn't very good I'm sure he'd agree with you saying she looked like a goddess in his clothes Gianni loved beautiful women. 🤭
I like Stephanie Seymour’s walk a lot! It completely broke the idea of what a “good” walk should be and imo it made her that much more unique on a runway. She looked absolutely incredible and that walk on an Atelier Versace runway never fails!
Couldn't agree with you more. She was also a Victoria's Secret print model. Her print work was insane. She was my favorite, well between her and Naomi.
I keep rewatching your videos! You are so unique and your reactions make me laugh and smile! Thank you….we live in a weird world right now so watching your videos is a puurfect way to chill. Thanks Malcolm… ❤{{{hugz}}}
Awwwww omg 🥺 thank you so much! I can’t tell you how good this makes me feel 💖 thank YOU for commenting such nice words about my videos. I really appreciate it so much 🫶🏾
Yasmeen Ghauri and Paulina Porizkova are the goddess of all times, Their beauty impacted to me so much, I couldn't believe this kind of perfect beauty was real, and It was ...both have it.

Is nothing like the 90s fashion in the 90s models Linda Evangelista Yasmin Ghauri, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell Claudia Schaefer, Christy Turlington Tyra Banks, shalom, Harlow. They were the models, and it was many more, but those were my favorites. I love to see them coming down to out all the other time they were the best.
Sonia Cole. Ann Fiona. Aly Dunne. Aria. Amalia. Katoucha. Mounia. Marpessa. Gurmit. All superstars, and possibly who Yasmeen knew as leaders in the industry. Her walk morphed as she became more comfortable and confident. Then, she blew the lid off! Yasmeen was phenomenal.
Ummmm WOW! This is amazing, all I had already was Sonia Cole. Just did a quick rabbit hole Googling these beauties and I am floored!!!!! Found all of the names and added to my list! Really excited to circle back on these, I saw some fascinating info very briefly. 🙌🏾 thank you!
Yasmeen was the queen of runway. Others may not agree but she owned the runway everytime she catwalked. She was flawless and effortless. Those hips were swinging to show off whatever it is she‘s wearing.
@@mj.arriba yes, I wish she was still on the runway with the other girls. Good for her for starting a family and living the life she wanted though. Classy lady, but her walk never got to evolve from her time in the 90s.
That walk, that face and that charisma. No wonder she was in high demand by big designers. I wonder if she never retired so early how life would have turned out for her in the industry? Btw love your reactions, do you plan to react to some other supermodels of the 90’s era?
I wonder that myself. There’s really no telling what she would’ve become if she stayed active in the industry. And thank you! Yes, I’m a personal fan of Naomi and the Gianni Versace era, so I’ve stuck to them so far, but also a fan of the other 90s girls. It’s not easy finding good 90s footage to react to, but I have a long list of people/models/artists that I plan to highlight on my channel.
That’s great there is a really nice TH-cam channel called ‘Runaway Collection’ which has playlists of all the runaway walks of different supermodels in the 90’s incase you didn’t know.
I think back in the 80s and 90s most models had to be mannequins whose look were changed to suit the collection. Linda, Shalom, and Yasmeen's appearance changed so much on the runway, even in editorials. However, Christy Cindy and Naomi were known for their stunning look that designers were less inclined to change their appearance.
@@MalcolmSoaries Agreed. But Christy would change it up a bit. But Linda, Shalom, and Kristen McMenamy were like blank canvases. They could be whatever you wanted them to be.
When she wears flat shoes she doesnt swish as much. When she wears the fiercest clothes and heels she works those hips and swishes like no body's business. Naomi once said Yasmeen had the best walk. I'm so glad you finally know who she is : ) Oh also look at her right hand when she walks. Look at her feet the way she poses her feet. I like when she stops and allows you to take a moment and and take her all in. She IS the G.O.A.T. She will always be a legend and she is still beautiful.
Loveeeee when she stops and makes us drink it in!!! Ugh SO good. I’ve since learned that Naomi is definitely on record saying that! Yasmeen was everything.
She’s more subdued in the “rose gold” at Prada’s because their shows, like CK are more subdued. Mugler and Versace are where she really “brought it” w/the double-jointed (which just means exaggerated movements). 80’s fashion rule!!!! But Im biased. I was 18 in 1990, a little gay white boy in Ky dreaming of fashion and the rise of the supermodels.
Ahhhh I’m such a 90s kids but 80s fashion was iconic!!!! Ugh I’m so not a Prada fan lol I loved reacting to Mugler and Versace because I knew she’d be bringing the drama!!! Love all your comments!
Her walk was exquisite because she moved every part of her body. Her right hand her arms shoulders legs down to her feet and she takes her time with her swivel walk. It's almost like she is dancing. She glides as she walks. She is in a zone. Get out of her way lol
Hmmm I know she said Yasmeen had the walk of life…idk if I ever heard her attribute her walk though. Regardless, Yasmeen definitely inspired everyone! 🙌🏾💯
@@MalcolmSoaries back in that day, those girls were serious and kicked ass! I remember many a show where Yasmeen and Christie would follow one another out or the time they opened the Valentino show at the Musée D’Orsay in Paris the press gave them a standing ovation at the opening of the show🥇🥇🥇❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🥳🥳🥳

Truly was one of one
Yasmeen knocks it out of the park with her mind-blowing moves❤🎉
Every single time 🙌🏾💯🔥
Geeezuzzzz….
✌🏻🙂✌🏻
Oh it was my pleasure! And that vlog sounds awesome I’ll circle back on that for sure thanks 😊

Yes!!!!! I agree!! Thank you for pointing these out 🙌🏾💯🙏🏾 this was also an older video of mine, we actually just hit 5K! 🎉 there’s also some more 90s runway content on my channel. Thanks so much again!
Thank you sis. I m huge Yasmin fan.
1990s fashion is timeless. Classy, sexy, cute...they have everything.
Oh thank you for the comment!! Yes she was everything and I am a big fan of the 90s in general, especially the fashion.
@@MalcolmSoaries I like your channel. Keep it up with good work.

@@BM-zd3vs Wow! Thank you so much! Appreciate that.
Thanks for this Video . I just Love Yasmeen . And you saying out loud all the things that are going through my mind when I see her walking the runway
Haha wow that’s awesome!! That means you’re my people 🙌🏾💖💯😂 thanks so much for the comment! We love Yasmeen!
There were 2 Runway Legends of the 80s who continued to work top shows in the 90s - Katoucha and Sonia Cole. Gurmit Kaur was also a Top Runway star of the time. She was Indian. It was a great time for Runway models of color.
Ooooh this is fascinating. Thanks for this info I’m going to look more into these!
Hey don't forget Anna Bayle, and Anne Fiona Scolley(R.I.P.) Sonia's runway partner. And I think Dalma Callado did retire mid 90's.
I LOVE HER!!!! She inspired many of my paintings.
Get out really!!! Of course you’re already familiar lol I just found out about this lady last year! Smh lol
Yes!!!! Very refreshing, well said! I love how much diversity she brought to fashion at that time. A real trailblazer for models of color! 🙌🏾💯
Yasmeen is Everything!!! 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾💜💜💜

@@MalcolmSoaries Claude Montana Fall 92 is Another great show. Very Blade Runner / Matrix!! 🙌🏾👏🏾👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎬💜
@@ericpatterson5050 oooooooh! Yeah I’ll be circling back on that as well
Yasmeen!! Effortless class. The Givenchy perfume bottle Organza is based on her body, apparently. In ads, she is dressed akin to a Greek Goddess and she poses next to the hourglass bottle, showing off the similarity of the two figures. 90s fashion scene rocked!
Yessssssss!!! Wow super iconic 🙌🏾
This is the perfect comment.
@@MalcolmSoaries Awwe, thanks Malcolm 🥰. I love your videos, keep them coming! ❤
If your interested, check some of the 80s girls like Sonia Cole and Dalma. She had a lovely walk.
Another great catwalker from the 90s was Helena Barquilla.
@@wtimothy9468 Ooh fabulous! Thank you so much for these suggestions!! I took a screen shot I’ll be adding to my notes 🙌🏾
I love to watch Yasmeen Ghauri walk the runway she always slayed! ❤️
Always!!!! Really enjoy watching her!
Yasmeen is the best ever
She was fabulous!
My absolute favorite look was that Yves Saint Laurent black two piece from his 1990 spring/ summer collection and it is a crime that the footage is rare if not non-existent.
Oooooooh I’m seeing spring 91 online but yeah I can’t find that collection! If I do though I’m definitely gonna circle back 🙌🏾💯
I remember her from back in the day and she never got the recognition she deserved until now it seems because of social media .
Truth!
@@rajjie100 oh I believe you! Minorities still don’t get the proper recognition to this day so I’m sure that was the case back then.
Stephanie Seymour!! Another supermodel of that time!!
But my favorite Is since ever yasmeen🤩
A legend!!! Let me make sure she’s on my list! 💗💗💗🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

She’s so fab. An icon. My idol. Did you know she’s back? She’s on Instagram now!
Such an icon! Yes I did see that!!!! I wonder if she’ll ever do a reunion or another fashion venture of some sort. 👀
@@Firespawnable yessss! Stephanie Seymour made a surprise appearance on the runway for Fall 2019 Versace it was iconic. She was everything🔥
Wowwww, such a talent!! 🙌🏾💯
I love her. I was very excited when i found out she made an instagram account few months ago. She ages gracefully

Sonia Cole. Ann Fiona.
Aly Dunne. Aria. Amalia.
Katoucha. Mounia. Marpessa.
Gurmit.
All superstars, and possibly who Yasmeen knew as leaders in the industry.
Her walk morphed as she became more comfortable and confident.
Then, she blew the lid off!

Yasmeen was the queen of runway. Others may not agree but she owned the runway everytime she catwalked. She was flawless and effortless. Those hips were swinging to show off whatever it is she‘s wearing.
She was absolutely flawless on the runway and was the benchmark of her era! 🙌🏾💯
@@MalcolmSoaries I absolutely and 💯 agree with you. Yasmeen has and still exudes class even in her personal photos.
@@mj.arriba yes, I wish she was still on the runway with the other girls. Good for her for starting a family and living the life she wanted though. Classy lady, but her walk never got to evolve from her time in the 90s.
@@MalcolmSoaries I think the supermodels of today could have learned a thing or two from her if she were still modelling.
@@mj.arriba oh for sure absolutely! I just think the real supermodels from back then who are still working have had the chance to elevate their walks.

Thank you!!! All about the energy! Lol 🙌🏾💗
The face, her waistline, and her strut. She comes alive in the runways.
She absolutely does! 💯🙌🏾
That makes sense! I feel like even Christy sometimes would change up her hair color or wear a big crazy wig like in Vivienne Westwood.
@@MalcolmSoaries Agreed. But Christy would change it up a bit. But Linda, Shalom, and Kristen McMenamy were like blank canvases. They could be whatever you wanted them to be.
@@maxglendale7614 facts!! 🙌🏾💯

Aw thank you! 💗

A girl has to know how to read the room.
Yasmeen was superlative in reading the room.
Facts!
Her walk was exquisite because she moved every part of her body. Her right hand her arms shoulders legs down to her feet and she takes her time with her swivel walk. It's almost like she is dancing. She glides as she walks. She is in a zone. Get out of her way lol
