    You should do a ride on the Houston MetroRail and take it to downtown. And when you start you should record yourself waiting for the train.

    Where are all the people ?
    Why does downtown look so dead of a major city ?
    Something is wrong 🤔

      There is no retail Downtown anymore. Decades ago, Main Street looked just like every other bustling downtown in America. Now, after all the major department stores, the last one being an 8-storey Macy’s, closed, there’s not much reason to be there in the daytime on weekends. It’s a bit livelier in the evening. But not much.

      Lack of Density + American urban planning. Like Most American cities, Houston is a giant suburb

    Why so empty?

    • @fragilerovers
      @fragilerovers  ปีที่แล้ว

      This could be due to reasons such as:
      1. Time of shooting: I shot this video around 12 noon and on a cold day. Houston downtown area gets busier towards sunset and the streets are filled even more in summer.
      2. The tunnel: The downtown area has an underground tunnel system of more than 6 miles that connects the buildings together. Residents and employees get around via this tunnel.
      3. City design: Houston is a big city spreading over 579 square miles, the cities business and population aren't concentrated in downtown area.
