Such intelligent responses. We're finally getting more Asian-Canadian representation in the media. It is important and it does encourage people from under-represented groups to pursue the arts. Thank you for this show.
Ooh, love, love, love Jean clapping back at the reporter's "stereotypical" comment. Jean did not come to play and she was not having any of that reporter's nonsense.
This is awesome - it’s so weird to hear them as they actually speak after only hearing them on screen. You assume that is what they sound like because their accents are so authentic, it’s extremely strange to hear them without it!
Watching on Netflix. Great Show! Love it! This show represents so many things, not only Koreans, Canadians, but family too. I think we can all relate to the stories in some way. Just a top notch show.
Saw first two episodes and think the show is super funny. Since we're all immigrants, this show is on point. They filmed some scenes around my downtown neighbourhood in the summer.
My Italian immigrants....spoke 'broken' english as they learned to 'fit' in ....as well as going to work....I was very happy an 'proud' to be of this cultural family...........
What a gift this show is for us and will forever be part of quality television history - brilliant cast, brilliant writing- this kind of quality doesn’t come around very often.
Typical great Canadian comedy! Reminds me of some of the other great Canadian comedies such as The King of Kensington, The Beachcombers, Schitt's Creek (and there's many many more).
Yeah some do but they always put their kid's name in front of it like Janet Appa and it actually means Janet's appa so it means yeobo.. eventually haha
Also every family is different - most people call their grandma grandma but some say grandmother, some say grams - no two family’s have identical traditions.
My mom would call my dad “appa” in the context that he’s the father of me and my siblings and only around me and my siblings. She would call my dad “jagi” or “yeobo” when not referring to us.
I love the show but a few things. 1. Kimchee -> what is that? a very tacky name. I don't get the point of naming one of the characters "Kimchee". This is such a KYOPO thing to do. Kimchee really? It's good to try to please the non-Korean audience as the show itself is Canadian but tacky nonetheless. 2. "You is" "they is" "I is". I am very aware of the kind of grammatical errors that Koreans make but "YOU IS, THEY IS, I IS" is NOT one of them. Unnecessarily inaccurate details like these make me feel very uncomfy to watch the show. Also the portrayal of Nayoung's cousin (FOB); really? you dress her like some type of comic convention participant from the 90s. That is NOT representative of Korean girls at all. What was that all about? And what's with the scene of dropping a raw egg into the soonduboo jjige. Ah no, soondubu jjige COMES with eggs already dropped into the soup. You guys need to do some more consulting with Korean people before coming up with these very inaccurate details. I don't mind constant use of "아우 참. 참나" but this is not usually used as much as it is repeated on the show either. I don't know. Always remember that you don't need to undermine Koreans in order to appeal better to the non-Korean audience. Find a better balance please.
The show about the female pastor..The bible say that women should "shut the hell up in church." So no women pastors...But Christians can be anyone and anything now a days.

I LOVE this show!! Brilliant, pithy, well-written, poignant--and FUNNY!! What an incredible combo!! And Paul Lee is so CUTE!!

I actually had a feeling they didn't have the same accent. That's mostly why I looked up interview
Uma said it thw best. I loved how she answered

이걸 보니까 얼마나 이분들이 연기를 잘하시는지 알겠어요!! 정말 캐나다 어딘가에 살고있을 것만 같은 킴스 패밀리!! 얼른 시즌 3가 나왔으면 좋겠어요~

technically everyone in Canada are and were immigrants at some point unless you are a native indigenous person so.......
My Italian immigrants....spoke 'broken' english as they learned to 'fit' in ....as well as going to work....I was very happy an 'proud' to be of this cultural family...........

I had a feeling they didn't actually have Korean accents
Im sure they do. When they speak korean.
@@KidRage i may be mistaken, but their Korean has a Canadian accent to it
Kid Nee Are they from Canada?
Wow I expected them to speak with an accent
I've watched all! I'm waiting for more episodes! So hilarious and fun!
this show is very funny.

We are Kimchi eaters and it is O.K!!! LOVE IT
The mother looks like my mom
Cancelled way too early, bring it back!!!!
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Accent is sexy! 😂😂
Korean says "yeo-bo", not "a-ppa" between marrying couple esp. old ones.

It depends. I'm 42, Korean married woman. I use those words, even though my mom never did.
Thats just a style. It doesn’t really matter but most if the people say yeobo thats for sure
My mom would call my dad “appa” in the context that he’s the father of me and my siblings and only around me and my siblings. She would call my dad “jagi” or “yeobo” when not referring to us.
After watching all 4 seasons I've just noticed something.
Not one single character has ever said "eh?" at the end of a sentence 😉
Its freaky watching series and hearing them not speaking in accent as heard on series
It's closer to moss park
Father and mother's English accent is close to Southeast Asian.
born in and traveled to most of the southeast asian countries...they've never sounded like any of the south east asian accents...
I’m a Korean and their accent sounds very much like Korean.
How does it sound like its south east asian? South east Asia is not a country, it is a region with many different countries and accents.
Yo wheres the accent :0
Appa
