That’s what I try to think about when I buy these. If they’re bad for me, can you imagine how bad it is for someone that knows nothing about video games? This definitely brings back memories I bought a 360 when it came out. That dashboard was amazing for the time. I remember playing a game and all of a sudden red ring of death very annoying.
I would imagine any company selling used 360's tries to get rid of the super-early ones that still work as quickly as possible. The X-Clamps are easier to remove with the special tools. That thermal paste HAS been replaced before, but hard to tell how old, but looks recent. Overall a lot cleaner than 360's I've taken apart and repaired.
I’ve taken off lots of X-clamps, best and easiest method I’ve found is using angled tweezers and squeezing in the end indented area while moving upward and it pops right out. A little hard to explain without showing but it’s a great method!
To be honest, at 199 dollars when not on sale, I'd add 100 more and buy the series S. I love retro consoles, but this is starting to become a scam market instead of a preservation one
i'd say its better than dkoldies but them forgetting what power supply is used for it is a bit of a disapointment but they are easy to fine anywhere else they probably don't pay attention to the specific one for each revision and the ps3 you got from before i'm really starting to think that any place like lukie games or dkoldies don't wanna bother with the original ps3's since they are too tedious to deal with but in the end i would say this is much better than dkoldies or the ps3 you got from lukie as well i will always like lukie games also getting a xb360 with the NXE is a bonus
Blades is super nostalgic and I loved the way I could customize the colors, but NXE is by far the cleanest one. Looks very premium and stylish. They went overboard with the simplicity in the new one and honestly looks extremely low res now that you look at it closely. The low res text is so much more apparent with the solid black on solid white, ultra simplistic look they have with the newest dashboard. I h*te it
The official 360 wired controller and the Gamecube controller (not the Wavebird) are the GOATs OAT. They just don't fail until they are fully worn out, my first 360 wired I bought for my PS3 (huge upgrade from the crap Sony provided) but then instantly replaced all my 360 wireless controllers plus became my PC controller. I wore out the potentiometer on my 360 wired ctrler after 11 years of constant use, my new old stock which I use on my PC should last about a thousand years compared to the usage of the first one.
I am in no way advocating for Luke games but the only time I ever bought from them was back in 2010. I bought a jungle green N64 and it was super clean. The controller matches and the stick felt brand new. Granted this was 13 years ago so…
I love the look and feel of the OG Xbox 360 much more than the slims. Plus it is super nostalgic for me as I was 12 in 2006 when I got one. I bought a brand new/factory sealed Xenon Xbox 360 last year for $300 to add to my game room. Date of production is April 2006. Unboxing it was amazing, a brand new original 360 with a brand new headset/controller/cords in 2022. Replaced the thermal paste on both chips and added the extra fans. Doing that plus not running it for more than 1-2 hours at a time will prevent RROD. The prolonged heat is what would cause the chips to unsolder themselves from the board. So I am keeping mine as cool as possible with the best thermal pate, extra fans, and timed use at 60 - 90 minutes.
giving you the wrong power brick is one thing but for $140 that's ridiculous because I bought my 360 for $50 3 years ago and mine came with an aftermarket wired rock candy green controller and a 20gb hard drive and it still works and was also made in 2009
@@jrob0021 opus is a lot better. Opus is just a falcon without HDMI. Opus and falcons came out after they fixed the RROD issue. I’ve rarely seen these fail while working on these consoles if you take care of them. Jaspers are obviously the most reliable. Opus and Falcons are good though.
13:03 you could tell right here that the boltmod was not performed. If it was, those eight screws in the middle would not be there. I did the boltmod on many 360s, and became a master at taking them apart without even scratching the plastics. Lukie fails though. NO Xbox should be shipped without an HDMI port, and every controller should be OEM. Not to mention they couldn't even include the correct AC adapter. I was not a fan of the Hitachi drives. The LiteOn drives were my fave but were a PITA to flash.
I just received a game today I bought from LukieGames, the listing was a stock photo with no description so I was mainly just expecting the disc.. they sent the collectors edition of the game, happy customer here 😊
I've got the Jasper accompanied by a slim Corona and a refurbished 17 year-old Zephyr. They were all bought this month. The Corona and Zepher were a mere 75 bucks for the pair. I got a deal for two sealed Afterglow controllers for 10 bucks each. The Jasper was loose for under 20 bucks but I bought an available OEM Falcon psu for three dollars. Should I keep the Zephyr or Corona to back my Jasper up? I'd like to use my Zephyr if only to see how much life is actually in it. I just want the Zephyr to hold up this winter.
Those square stickers under the 20gb hard drive are an indicator that they were once refurbished from Gamestop. Their QA team uses those. So this console might have been refurbished TWICE lol
I bought a bunch of SNES games from them and the packaging was so inefficient that my copy of Starfox was completely destroyed. They sent another one but it took 20 days to arrive.
That crack on the disc made it passed the stacking ring, which is causing the 2 poly layers of the disc to separate which is called delamination and that's why you see that distortion. It is exactly where the data layer is and its surprising the game even starts
Agreed, we see games with this issue all the time and they usually don't boot. It's shocking to see them work at all and we certainly wouldn't sell a game with a disc like that to a customer at full price, if at all. When a disc looks like this it's very much an issue of when the disc will fail, not if imo.
I got my first 360 off of eBay for parts or not working, turned out to be a rehashed Gamestop piece of junk, but it was a Jasper model (last good version before the Slim). Taking it apart to clean, I noticed a redundant "fix", where they ran the 12V rail directly to the fans, so it sounded like a jet engine all the time, so after fixing the disc drive (needed a belt replacement), I took out the "fix" and let it sit for 36 hours as a burn in test. It passed, and has been a useful console since.
I'm impressed a Xenon is still alive with the original heatsinks. If it had been sent back to Microsoft it would have had its CPU heatsink replaced the extended heatpipe. It's definitely been cleaned and refurbished surprisingly. I wouldn't be wanting to pay $140 for an old 2006 non HDMI xbox. I bought my slim for like $50 equivalent with custom Firmware on it.
I just got one off my local marketplace… OG xbox 360 120GB, Kinect sensor bar and an adapter to use on old console, 37 games, 2 Controllers, 4 Recharge battery packs with the recharger, Guitar hero guitar, 2 Rockband guitars, Rockband Drums and it cost 200$… always look local people

Lukie is hit or miss. I used them to complete my wiiu collection, mostly the dime a dozen shovelware trash. I was very confused to learn that they consider CIB just having the case and disc, they do not guarantee a manual. I shop elsewhere for my games unless they are the only option. I will say that their prices were decent.
I personally believe this console was refurbished before lukie games acquired it. The thin layer of dust everywhere and the fact the ps3 was not refurbished is what leads me to believe that.
I bought GTA IV PS3 from Lukiegames. I ordered a complete copy and they sent me one missing the manual and map. I emailed them and they said that they cannot guarantee that they will come with a manual and that they don’t separate them from the ones with a manual and ones without the manual. Same thing with the “greatest hits” version or “player’s choice” version etc. So apparently even if it’s missing a manual its still “complete” according to Lukiegames.
I would much rather receive the wrong brick than a console caked with dust. Its a mistake that shouldnt happen but one i think people should get over it especially if you've had a 360 console. Since i was a PS3 guy that generation I wouldnt have a power brick laying around and i more than likely would just get over it.
Wrong power brick, sending out RROD prone pre-HDMI console and 3rd party controller still so I'd only give Lukie half a point here and that's pretty generous. Better than DKoldies but that's a low bar to clear.
The first Xbox 360 I removed the X-clamps on, I almost sliced the tip of my thumb clean off. It hurt like hell and I bled so much I almost passed out. I’ve got a scar from it. You’ve definitely got to be careful with them because the edges are sharp.
Even Cex in the UK specifies whether they are selling a HDMI or No HDMI console, it's a shame that you're getting shafted by companies not specifying what their console is.
companies make sure to differentiate the chargers or any item for that matter just to avoid customer confusion and the confusion still happens... now imagine how the world would be if all the plugs were the same and you had to actually *Read* labels ... because reading is hard...
Microsoft and Sony need to start making their consoles backwards compatible. A big problem that I run into with these PS3 generation consoles (I forget if it's fifth generation or sixth) is that they weren't built to last.
The goodwill in my town does this 10x better. they have all of them marked as either hdmi or non hdmi and then also have the powerbricks actually sorted properly so you know which ones to get
I miss that dashboard!! That other than "Blades," is my favorite Xbox 360+ dashboard! I always hated the Windows 10 themed dashboard, even to this day! I'd give anything to go back to that dashboard even on my Xbox Series X!
I removed an x clamp last night in fact. xbox one. clean out, re paste and topped off with an SSD upgrade, what a 500gb drive left the 'box with with all it's settings on was abysmal. it was left with like 360gb that was almost full, like 99% no joke, SSD has left it with about twice the space now the x clamp wasn't that hard to deal with seeing a few videos on how other people did it. most tedious part though was putting it back together, the outer case wasn't sitting right and the front panel ribbon loves to stay out of sight when you almost have it
beatiful xenon working on an older dashboard, honestly this was not worth $120, but maybe $90. the reason i say what i say is because its not everyday you come across a console like this, and if you were looking for a cheap option your would not come to a place like this.
I got an Xbox 360E on Mercari, for $90 that included 12 Games and a Guitar Hero Live Guitar, everything was is great condition and working, I rather take a shot and buy from Mercari or similar sites than pay this much to a company that doesn't care about their customers, the fact that they've sent the wrong power supply shows how little they care.
Been dealing with Lukie Games for almost 5yrs and only had 2 games returned because they were defected. Their customer service and Stock has always been Top Notch.
The wrong power brick is pretty bad, but because of how amazed I am at the fact that one of these consoles appears to be actually refurbished I'm willing to let it slide. Rare semi-W for the overpriced retro videogame market?
Yeah this purchase has now made the Lukie games experience even more mysterious 😂 they actually refurbished the console, but then messed up a bunch of other stuff. So weird. And then it has the nxe dashboard
I mean you have to give them credit for making sure it works but i guess all of ya'll are right about it being dirty I just feel like it is a successful version dkoldies
Bought a GBA sp from Lukie a while back, idk if it was cleaned inside or advertised as refurbished, but it was definitely repainted, and came with an oem charger. No complaints
at this point what do you expect? Also, the Lukie games and DKoldies sites look and price way too similarly in my opinion to not be in cahoots. Lukie started out as legit competition for DKO and they priced like it, now the prices seem fixed high between the 2 companies. It is unsurprising to me that they operate almost the exact same...
@@jrob0021 thanks for responding, It was supposed to be rhetorical, but you still got me laughing bc you are right, the only constant is that at least SOMETHING will be wrong.
I’ve cut the ends of the power supply cables to fit in systems they shouldn’t. Never had an issue. That’s just me in a bind trying to get something to work. A company shouldn’t be sending you the wrong one.
so, just to clarify: the console was 90% clean there are no technical issues good thermal paste there is literally nothing to complain, especially when compared to earlier consoles the company obviously has some inconsistency issues but if you can still find a way to come away with a bad experience after this, you're unsavable
You dont even need to open it up. When you tell me you feel scalding hot heat from the back, you know you have recent thermal paste. ALL of these systems blow cold air when they have the void warranty sticker not popped. So if it has not been opened, most likely it will overheat. Not only do these red ring but they used that commercial use white thermal paste on these and it does not last long and will dry and crack even when not being used, just over time.
Imo from what we can see they really did a great job cleaning the console. It's a bit pricy but it's super clean and they didn't forget to change the thermal paste. I think they need to focus on finding something else to blow air though... That liquid is going to break machines at some point. Also, they need to double-check components, plug everything in and test before sending. I'm sure they did at some point but giving the wrong power cable is unacceptable. Still impressed by the great job they did inside.
You should get a dreamcast or two (one from DKoldies too) since dreamcast troubleshooting is a PAIN when it’s not a simple issue (I.E spring replacement) plus there’s the question of modchips
$140 for an xbox 360 is INSANE. even if it was in perfect condition and they sent you an original controller and power brick, the max it should be is around $80
I bought some carts from them b4. Good labels, but oh man. I cleaned them, and I pulled off so much dust and dirt off. Ik nes games are notorious for not reading, but it took several cleans to get them to work. And 2 of the games I got were on sale. Those 2 games were in trash condition. Since it was on sale, they felt like giving me the worst copies ig.
Although companies dont do a Perfect job, you have to admit complaining about a small amount of dust is very petty. Im the first one to complain about overpriced games and consoles, but it only takes a short amount of time for dust to collect. Imagine theyve refurbed 200 plus consoles, they arent selling like hot cakes, so they sit a bit. There will be some dust, thermal paste is one thing but jeeze man.

I love retro consoles, but this is starting to become a scam market instead of a preservation one
i'd say its better than dkoldies but them forgetting what power supply is used for it is a bit of a disapointment but they are easy to fine anywhere else they probably don't pay attention to the specific one for each revision and the ps3 you got from before i'm really starting to think that any place like lukie games or dkoldies don't wanna bother with the original ps3's since they are too tedious to deal with but in the end i would say this is much better than dkoldies or the ps3 you got from lukie as well i will always like lukie games also getting a xb360 with the NXE is a bonus
distorted joey face is like 99% of the reason i watch your content. we need more of it
Blades is super nostalgic and I loved the way I could customize the colors, but NXE is by far the cleanest one.

IMO these are mistakes that should not be overlooked.
There's no way they've even tested that system.
It's possible for them to have tested it, but when the packaged it the put in the wrong power brick. But still, putting the wrong power brick is wild.
looks pretty clean to me, minus that power cable
At least the strategy guide is in great condition.
Screw these companies like DKoldies, Lukie games and Gamestop. You're better off getting retro consoles from ebay from a seller with a high rating.
Ebay is a tricky place to buy stuff because return policies are harder to get pass and you don't know what you getting
So I am keeping mine as cool as possible with the best thermal pate, extra fans, and timed use at 60 - 90 minutes.
giving you the wrong power brick is one thing but for $140 that's ridiculous because I bought my 360 for $50 3 years ago and mine came with an aftermarket wired rock candy green controller and a 20gb hard drive and it still works and was also made in 2009
Just because it’s only av doesn’t mean it’s a xenon. Could be a opus. But since it’s 06 it’s definitely xenon.
I mean even if it was opus, it’s not much better
@@jrob0021 opus is a lot better. Opus is just a falcon without HDMI. Opus and falcons came out after they fixed the RROD issue. I’ve rarely seen these fail while working on these consoles if you take care of them. Jaspers are obviously the most reliable. Opus and Falcons are good though.
9:57 Danny over here is confused on why it sounds like huge gusts of wind or tornados.
It isn't really a mystery. An employee is lazy, while another does their job.
I just received a game today I bought from LukieGames, the listing was a stock photo with no description so I was mainly just expecting the disc.. they sent the collectors edition of the game, happy customer here 😊
You got the Xenon, Zypher, Falcon and Jasper. And indeed the Jasper where the best!!!
I had the same issue with the power supply in the UK, the shop I bought it from told me to dremel the plastic out so it would fit.
Yikes, big red flag lol
Those square stickers under the 20gb hard drive are an indicator that they were once refurbished from Gamestop. Their QA team uses those. So this console might have been refurbished TWICE lol
Ay. They refurbished the console! That's good! Oh that console has an old dashboard! Cool! But wrong power supply... 🙁
Wow I can’t believe they sent the wrong chord dude that’s crazy. Even GameStop gets that stuff right.
(In my experience, at least)
I just got one off my local marketplace… OG xbox 360 120GB, Kinect sensor bar and an adapter to use on old console, 37 games, 2 Controllers, 4 Recharge battery packs with the recharger, Guitar hero guitar, 2 Rockband guitars, Rockband Drums and it cost 200$… always look local people
idk i could have so much on my mind but one thing I would never forget is checking problems like this with consoles etc before I would ship it.
Poor guy gets a minimum wage job at a video game store, becomes a social media manager because he can fake happy well...ends up being the face of lies and corruption even when his store isn't involved.
Lol what in the world
Do you think Lukie actually refurbished it? Or did they just receive an already refurbished console that they sold
I would much rather receive the wrong brick than a console caked with dust. Its a mistake that shouldnt happen but one i think people should get over it especially if you've had a 360 console. Since i was a PS3 guy that generation I wouldnt have a power brick laying around and i more than likely would just get over it.
Lol 140. I bought a 360 last month for 30. Like seriously people, 360s aren’t worth that much. They are dirt cheap.
This makes me feel better about my Xbox One S that I bought today for $90 lol. Seeing that dashboard brings back some old memories!
So Lukie is 1 to 1 and DKOldies is 0 to 3 now?
Wrong power brick, sending out RROD prone pre-HDMI console and 3rd party controller still so I'd only give Lukie half a point here and that's pretty generous. Better than DKoldies but that's a low bar to clear.
Well they showed the exact controller in the photo so they were more clear but no ones honestly gonna go out of there way to make sure it's oem
The first Xbox 360 I removed the X-clamps on, I almost sliced the tip of my thumb clean off. It hurt like hell and I bled so much I almost passed out. I’ve got a scar from it. You’ve definitely got to be careful with them because the edges are sharp.
How do these companies keep getting away with this?
They never focus on refurbishment to the extreme they care alot about if it works because that is their purpose for selling it
Even Cex in the UK specifies whether they are selling a HDMI or No HDMI console, it's a shame that you're getting shafted by companies not specifying what their console is.
I’m sure the only reason this thing was repaired is because it came to them with red rings. This version of the console is notorious to say the least
companies make sure to differentiate the chargers or any item for that matter just to avoid customer confusion and the confusion still happens... now imagine how the world would be if all the plugs were the same and you had to actually *Read* labels ... because reading is hard...

I removed an x clamp last night in fact. xbox one. clean out, re paste and topped off with an SSD upgrade, what a 500gb drive left the 'box with with all it's settings on was abysmal. it was left with like 360gb that was almost full, like 99% no joke, SSD has left it with about twice the space now
the x clamp wasn't that hard to deal with seeing a few videos on how other people did it. most tedious part though was putting it back together, the outer case wasn't sitting right and the front panel ribbon loves to stay out of sight when you almost have it
No Quality Assurance or Quality Control
14:42 Who signed the chip board. Top left?
I didn’t even notice that. I have no idea. Maybe Lukie games does that if they actually open the console? Idk lol
beatiful xenon working on an older dashboard, honestly this was not worth $120, but maybe $90. the reason i say what i say is because its not everyday you come across a console like this, and if you were looking for a cheap option your would not come to a place like this.
You gotta get yourself an X Clamp removal tool. It makes it SO much easier and safer. They're only like 7 bucks or so.
6 years ago GameStop were literally giving these away for free on black Friday. It even came with the OG controller and brand new batteries!
Been dealing with Lukie Games for almost 5yrs and only had 2 games returned because they were defected. Their customer service and Stock has always been Top Notch.
Man these places are ridiculous in price.
@@Kla2024-s5t Yeah it sucks. But you definitely need to shop around, Ebay seems to always have good bundles and deals for cheap.
I mean you have to give them credit for making sure it works but i guess all of ya'll are right about it being dirty I just feel like it is a successful version dkoldies
plus when looking on amazon snes consoles ARE DIRTY so it isn't a big difference
I remember going into Best Buy and asking if they had any 360s with the Jasper chip. None of the employees knew what I was talking about.
Bought a GBA sp from Lukie a while back, idk if it was cleaned inside or advertised as refurbished, but it was definitely repainted, and came with an oem charger. No complaints
Except for the price which is far over market value, literally scammers
10:17 Data rot. Awesome video
at this point what do you expect? Also, the Lukie games and DKoldies sites look and price way too similarly in my opinion to not be in cahoots. Lukie started out as legit competition for DKO and they priced like it, now the prices seem fixed high between the 2 companies. It is unsurprising to me that they operate almost the exact same...
I don’t know what to expect, because they mess up something different each time. This one was literally refurbished 😂 but they messed up so much else
US prices are so much higher than UK for gamings consoles, you'd struggle to sell this for £50 in the UK even if it was all genuine and refurbished
I'm still trusting my local retro game store
These companies make me feel great about my restoration process.
This is why I just use ebay
Over $130 for a Xenon that likely has a defective GPU, a Falcon power supply and 3rd party wired controller is absolutely insane
so, just to clarify:
the console was 90% clean
there are no technical issues
good thermal paste
there is literally nothing to complain, especially when compared to earlier consoles
the company obviously has some inconsistency issues but if you can still find a way to come away with a bad experience after this, you're unsavable
You said earlier in the video, "It is, what it is."
Well, that's what Big Business says, as they send you the wrong part! 🙄🤣👍
$140 for an xbox 360 is INSANE. even if it was in perfect condition and they sent you an original controller and power brick, the max it should be is around $80
Awesome video… slightly poor choice in hoodie/ mic placement lol
I bought like 90% of my ps2 games from lukie games come in nice condition and I wanted to buy a ps3 and everything came yeah a 3rd party controller no worries but it didn't come with a charging cable I was like uh okay weird I guess I gotta buy one myself but I checked inside not too scary or dusty like dkoldies but hey it was cheaper than dk and it still runs like a champ a year later
I bought a refurbished 3DS from LukieGames and they are far better than DK Oldies but I do enjoy your videos on refurbished consoles you bought from Lukie, Jacob.
That power supply error is unacceptable. BTW it's expensive but not in the vein of DKscammies.
