A proud, born-and-bred Jersey girl, Stephanie Plum's got plenty of attitude, even if she's been out of work for the last six months and just lost her car to a debt collector. Desperate for some fast cash, Stephanie turns to her last resort: convincing her sleazy cousin to give her a job at his bail bonding company...as a recovery agent. True, she doesn't even own a pair of handcuffs and her weapon of choice is pepper spray, but that doesn't stop Stephanie from taking on Vinny's biggest bail-jumper: former vice cop and murder suspect Joe Morelli - yup, the same sexy, irresistible Joe Morelli who seduced and dumped her back in high school.
Nabbing Morelli would be satisfying payback - and a hefty payday - but as Stephanie learns the ins and outs of becoming a recovery agent from Ranger, a hunky colleague who's the best in the business, she also realizes the case against Morelli isn't airtight. Add to the mix her meddling family, a potentially homicidal boxer, witnesses who keep dying and the problem of all those flying sparks when she finds Morelli himself...well, suddenly Stephanie's new job isn't nearly as easy as she thought.

I found this movie entertaining, fun, and enjoyable. Naturally, the critics hated it, because anything meeting those criteria can't be good in their eyes.
I want a Stephanie Plum TV series! But make it good and cast Katherine Heigl or someone just as good. She’s how I imagined the character whilst reading the books.
It would be great on a network like Lifetime or Hallmark as a monthly TV movie. Two years would cover the book series. I agree that Katherine Heigl was the perfect Stephanie.
Better to cast someone younger, and someone who can act. The character Stephanie plum is in her late 20's, Katherine is mid 40's.
Actually she's supposed to be mid 30s, so her age is about right.

I LOVE THE BOOK SERIES!!! Sherri Shepard as Lula is gonna be hilarious as hell!! I cannot wait for this to come out.
Another good movie with Katherine Heigl. I don't understand why critics, like rotten tomatoes, give her such bad reviews.

I would love to see the 10th book, Ten Big Ones turned into a movie. The one where Stephanie back tracks on the GPS in the truck Ranger gave her & finds Rangeman HQ.
I like how Janet now says that Katherine did such a good job that she pictures her as Stephanie now. So the way she's depicted in this movie is now canon.
21 jump Street seemed a wasted effort. It's stupid they turned it into a moronic comedy. They even fucked up The Dukes of hazzard. Katherine Heigl wasn't the best pick in my humble opinion.

It looks good. I really enjoy all the Stephanie Plum books. This movie has good casting. Except in the books Joe Morelli has black hair and brown eyes and he gets a lot of sexy mileage out of them, but the actor has his personality and attitude down perfectly.
Good movie. Katherine Heigl can play in any movie she is a legend.
I didnt mind the movie. She was good in killers. I like her in comedy action.

I'm on book 22, and enjoy them very much. I'm usually a tough critic of movies made from books, but this one is pretty darn good.

In 2012, my family did family movie nights sometimes and my mom would get a movie from the redbox, we’ll, my sister and I were around 9 and 12 and my mother didn’t know what this movie was but she rented it anyways... let’s just say it was an interesting movie night...

I like the cast! The only thing I would change would be brown colored contacts for the actor playing Morelli. Katherine as Stephanie is an inspired choice! Ranger is gorgeous! Grandma is perfect - Lula - spectacular! I wonder too if the Ramirez storyline will be covered and who will play him. This looks GREAT!!!
The only reason to see this movie is if they actually showed Heigl's ass, ( even then, I would just look it up online) but that PG-13 rating disappoints again.
I'm not into this type of Hollywood-lemonade movies at all, but this one isn't that bad, but rather quite entertaining and funny (at moments). And as a result of the aforementioned reasons, I really don't know why (some) people hate Katherine Heigl (and I'm really NOT INTERESTED),, but one thing I have to say about her (whichy, of course, everybody knows), she's one "to-die-for" sexy woman! And in this film, as a brunette, she definitely enchanted me!

Sue me but the casting is terrible. With the exception of Lula and Connie the receptionist. Morelli has the right attitude so I let it barely pass.

I don't know that I believe Katherine Heigl ever had trouble buttoning her pants a day in her life. XD And "bad hair days" for her are magazine cover quality for the rest of us.
Even this is a chick flick. Does she do anything where she has to act. She is the most over-rated actress in the business. She has done nothing worth watching.
I've read every one of the books from the beginning and I've always pictured Sandra Bullock as Stephanie Plum. Grandma Mazur, Ranger and Morelli don't live up to my expectations, either.

Part of the problem the movie had was all of the "Plum fans" had their own idea as to what the characters looked like, and many were unwilling to accept the actors. Also, the characters were developed over the 15 or so books in print at the time of the movie (26 books now), but the movie used the characters as portrayed in only book 1. Stephanie was done well. Ranger was still mostly undeveloped in book 1. Morelli was the most developed character in book one and has changed the least - good looking and self centered, sees no qualities or capabilities in Steph except sex.

I LOVE Sheri Shepard as Lula. The rest of the cast could be worse, I'm excited regardless, this is my favorite book series.

I still don't see Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum. There were much better choices for this part: Angie Harmon, Sandra Bullock, Erica Durance. Hell Melissa Joan Hart in a brown wig. lol I like Sherry Shepard but I wish they could've gotten Mo'nique to be LuLu.

I think Katherine Heigl is good for Stephanie....but everyone else is iffy. Especially Ranger!! He needs to be wayyyy hotter ;) And I feel like Stephanies whole family is WRONG. Lula is good though haha.

I haven't read the books, so don't jump on me, but this looks like just another one of those brainless, illogical cop comedies hollywood pops out a couple times a year.
Grandma Mazur is at least 20 years too young. And don't get me started on Katherine Heigl.... But I'm happy with Morelli, Ranger, and Lula. It should still be pretty funny.

I feel this plot is too close to the bounty hunter which came out in 2010 it's a guy going after his ex wife who broke bail this is pretty much a gender swapped version of that big time
Only issue I have is when the actor playing the Ranger character looks down the barrel of his Desert Eagle pistol. Other than that stupidity, I think this will be a great movie and I cannot wait for it to come out on dvd. I hope they will make more movies based on the books because they are great!

I loveeee these books, and I just reread the first one and now on the second. It looks like they got a lot wrong with the preview. Is Rameriez even in the movie? Also Ranger and Joe are supposed to be HOT....not average. Besides they made Stephanie's outfits too fashionable and it makes her seem like she actually spends a lot of time on her outfits...which in the books, she doesn't.

Janet Evanovich wrote a couple dozen Stephanie Plum books. They are all titled in sequential numbers i.e "ONE for the Money". "TWO for the Dough", "THREE to get Deadly", "FOUR-- something" & so on.
I think I read the first 13 books, and was very tickled to see that they made a movie out of the first one.
If you start the novels, you'll most likely be hooked.
