Aleksei Sytsevich was once a poor Russian immigrant who was desperate to bring his family to the United States. Because of this, he worked as a thug for criminal organizations, and even allowed himself to be experimented on to create an unstoppable henchman. Grafted with a super strong polymer which granted him augmented strength and speed, his powers were modeled on the abilities of a Rhinoceros. Soon going rogue, he decided to sell his services to the highest bidder, and would often be confronted by Spider-Man. Join www.WatchMojo.com as we will explore the comic book origins of the Rhino.
In his first appearance, the Rhino actually claimed the transformation increased his intelligence as well as his strength. He wasn't depicted as having a low IQ until later issues.
@Gabe Stein , no, Gabe dude, it's not. I'm old enough that I actually read the Rhino's origin story when it first came out. He commented that the scientists who created him thought they could control him, but they didn't realize that when they increased his strength, they also unintentionally increased his intelligence. Marvel Comics eventually forgot about that, when they stopped caring about their creations. But ThePinkMan is correct, Gabe dude.....
ThePinkMan, you're talking about continuity and history, which Marvel stopped caring about a long, long, Long time ago. Which is why I stopped reading Marvel a long time ago. I saved myself a lot of bad stories and grief.....
honestly the fact that he wants to remove his augmentation, makes him a villain that can be sympathized with

The Rhino was POOOOOORLY portrayed in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, they used a good actor and attitude...only to turn him into a CGI transformer?? Really using your imagination there Marvel!! ;-/
I think it was pretty good, but yeah the mechanic suit takes away all the point out of him since he doesnt have powers and only uses a machine.

I actually prefer the mechanised version to the rhino, think about it if they made the rhino like they did in the comics in the movie, most people would be like " what the actual fuck is that"?! So yea I think it looks better in the movie
If anyone think that they clearly ain't a real Rhino fan. There's a reason the Rhino has been in comics for as long as he has and he's always looked fine the way he is. More real Marvel fans said "what the fuck?!" to the movie because they got it completely wrong like they got the green goblin wrong.

These comics were at their height during the cold war, so portraying the Russians as villains was common during the time.

Haven't played by the game but from what I saw in a trailer, the Amazing Spider-Man game had an awesome Rhino design.

They tried the machine rhino in asm the comic series, it was a new guy trying to kill off the old rhino so he could gain the name(the old rhino destroyed him). The rhino has a lot of layers of emotion and depth to him now, at that point in the series he had gotten the suit off and had fallen in love, but the mech rhino chased him down and killed the woman he loved just so he would become the rhino again. It's a little painful to see them show him as such an idiot when he isnt like that anymore. Whoever is making the new ASM movies needs to pick up a comic book, and not an ultimate's comic book.

So rhino has a poor immigrant story like Tony Montana from Scarface that's pretty rad they should make one origin story where he was actually a former Soviet soldier that became a criminal after the Soviet Union disbanded in the 90s I think that would make a pretty new refreshing story for Alexi for becoming rhino.
