    Scorsese, as with James Cameron and Ridley Scott, shoots and edits these amazingly fluid and “simple” dialog sequences that are directing and editing works of movie-making beauty. It’s another clinic. The dialog. The pacing. The reaction shots. The off-camera voices. The unexpected. So much fun to watch the back and forth between the connected scenes and the interactions.

    Seems that a lot of people don’t understand how this movie is supposed to be seen from Rupert Buffkin point of view of all he wanted was just to become famous and for somebody to listen to his audition and tell him what he needs to do to actually become famous like Jerry Langford and Jerry Langford, instead of listening to demo tape, he schedules an appointment with Rupert bupkin to see what he can do to become a famous Comedian like Dre Langford is but only to find out that Jerry Langford didn’t schedule anything. He just said to get rid of Rupert bumpkin.

    As much as everyone focuses on the two psycho main characters in the film, nobody is talking about how all this could have been avoided if Jerry wasn’t a douchebag to his fans that probably care more about him than most of his “real” friends. Life lesson, always be a good person and hear everybody out and give most people a fair shot or opportunity. You never know what’s going on inside the minds of most people.

    • @Kakarot7314

      You dont get it. Jerry is the normal guy in this movie. The movie is talking about celebrity obsession.

    • @mercoid
      @mercoid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That rule is fine for the average non-famous person to follow. We average people meet far fewer individuals, and are under far less expectations than a famous person. A famous person’s “public”….. as an entity…( not individuals for the most part ) , is an evil all consuming Monster.
      The above response to your comment is absolutely right. You completely miss the point of the movie. And while living the life of fame and fortune is in itself very abnormal, and can often only be endured by a person with their own particular set of flaws, the Jerry Langford character is reacting in a very normal way to his situation.

    • @listentothenightfilms
      @listentothenightfilms ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dude...seriously? Look at Jerry's life. He's alone. He's isolated. There's no wife or girlfriend and he eats alone. Celebrity is hollow for Jerry but Rupert is so very sure that he wants a part of Jerry's 'fabulous' life. Jerry on stage isn't Jerry when he's at home watching TV either, so no, Jerry's fans don't care more about him than his real friends, which appear to be few. Jerry literally owes nothing to anybody. Even when trying to be nice, he's told that he should get cancer. He puts out art, the people like it, transaction is made, performances to say thank-you performed and that's it. He should protege and befriend some weirdo off the street why? Because he owes it to him? How dare Rupert do this to a man who has entertained him for decades. How ungrateful is THAT? Jerry was the saddest character in this movie imo.
