They even have a very decent mobile version of this game and Medival 2 now. The only major downsides I found compared to the OG PC version were how quickly it drains your battery (lol) and that you sadly cannot drag units into your prefferred order. What I mean is that if a unit has 3 ranks, it will always have 3 ranks, because you can neither increase or decrease the width of a unit (which is actually a kind of a nerf for phalanx units). At the same time this means you can only place a unit in a certain direction, based on from where they have moved from to the new position. Thus you might find your self having to draw ziczacs movement orders. The last point is more of an inconvenience tho, as you can simply use the pause button to increase your presicion concerning the units facing direction.
Currently playing the Remaster for the first time. The nostalgia is strong with this one; RTW was my first TW game and I loved it. I accidentally left my first game on Normal unit size I think, and yeah generals were dying left and right on the charge. After I restarted the campaign on Ultra, it made a huge difference. I haven't had one die yet. It must be something with the damage calculation on the charge so as long as the general's model is in the back, you're fine.
As an old fan of the EB, Stainless Steel and Roleplay campaigns it's always so sweet to see you back on the older games. I get it's not easy to record, so thanks for putting in the effort!
Oh, the nostalgia. Loved seeing a Rome video here! I must have sunk hundreds of hours into Rome back in the day, and this brought me right back. Love the Warhammer stuff, but getting these historical disaster campaigns as a palate cleanser from time to time is great.
In Rome total war there is a long delay for the javelin throw animation. They need to Halt (entire unit stops), bring the Javelin/Pila up, then throw. The animation is so long skirmishing with them is quite bad.
Had Rome 1 on three disks back in the day, still one of my top games of all time. But regarding the battle, it's oddly historically accurate. Nearly every battle where Carthage was able gain cavalry superiority, they absolutely crushed Roman forces. It's interesting to look back and see how decisive the tactical choices are in this game, and how immediate the results are.
I remember how awesome the barbarian invasion expansion was, with night battles and all the men holding torches! The aesthetics and audio of the classic total wars isn't beat today.

Hey Legend, my brother and I loved your Rome Total War videos. I was so thrilled to see you put out a new one after so long, here's hoping you put out one every now and then. I heard you got burnt out on it, and I understand completely.
It was more of a disaster battle rather than a disaster campaign. To go for Rome after ten turns takes some serious balls given that Rome's army is the strongest one you will encounter (Egyptian crap stacks are a close second). To do so with the 'wrong' units is even worse, since Iberian infantry is incredibly weak (the massed assault in the last siege coupled with general's support is the exception). Fortunately cavalry concentrations will win you battles, even when there is no advantage on paper
I remember as a young Irishman playing Rome 1 in Spring Hill in Brisbane circa 2009-2010 and having the time of my life in many ways. That time and this game will always stay in my memory even though I don't live in Brisvegas anymore. Hope the city still serves you well Legend!
