The Spaniels were one of my earliest influences in music. Day after day I would sing along with their records. That was in the fifties. In the sixties I had the honor of performing with Gerald Gregory and some of the other Spaniels at a show in Langhorne, Pa. I was singing top tenor for The "Original" Duprees. Tom Bialoglow Founding Member of The "Original" Duprees.
Pookie Hudson and the Spaniels........you may remember their 1954 hit. " Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight".... always last song played at school dances. Good to see them together decades later. 🎶🎤🎶
Just when i think i have seen everything available out there from Pookie Hudson and the Spaniels something like this comes along and just blows me away. Thank you so much for sharing this treasure. I had the pleasure of seeing them preform several times in and around the DC area as a teen in the late 1970's. Pookie was the original and true ICE man of Doo wops
One of the best groups of the Doo Wop era and I had the pleasure of getting to know him and some of the group thru my friend who was a very good friend of his in Philadelphia.
Marvelous lineup of Spaniels with 'Dutch' DeCoombs, bass, Stephen Wade, top tenor, Preston Monroe, baritone, Bey Robinson, tenor, and original Spaniels lead voice, James 'Pookie' Hudson, in his very last appearance on Staten Island in 2006 a year before cancer claimed his life.
My wife berkis and i saw pookie at of all places a restaurant bar in lyndhurst nj about one tear before he passed. It was a ugha dinner cocktail with ronnie italiano. From martin an original harlem nyc boy.

One of my unfavorite groups. Worked with them in 1962. Tom Bialoglow "Original" Duprees.
We just lost Mr. Steve Wade, second from the left. Condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed.
