Noticed a small error in the rules description in this video. When a river tile with an exclamation mark comes out, the player who drew that tile actually gets to choose which double-river tile to place. From the rules: "You draw an Amazon tile with a “!.” You look through the Amazon double-tiles and choose one. You then place the !-tile, followed by the double-tile, orienting both in a way that seems favorable to you."
So I played this with my buddy the other day for the first time and for some reason we really weren’t picking up amazon tiles for a large amount of the beginning of the game. This caused our boats to get as far down the river as possible until we couldn’t progress forward. What do you do if you can’t move forward? We just kept playing, moving forward when we could but the initial hold up made it so we were constantly at the front of the river with nowhere to go. Couldn’t find anything in the book. Anybody?
Vidar Madsen i just memorized it. it's the only tile with that configuration. as soon as the game ends i grab it quick and set it aside to prevent helpers from putting it in the bag.
I really like the draw one tile and pick where to put it style of play of Carcassonne and i don't understand the need of someone to draw 3 tiles to be able to pick from. BUT. In this version when you draw the Amazon river tile you have NO choice. This is dumb. If you are not leading in the race, you can't place it somewhere so it is not advantageous to someone, you have to give someone a huge pile of points and the catch up mechanism is not worth it. So no. South Seas was too clunky and too much focused on bridges, this one looks like a pass too. Gold Rush looked interesting, but without trying it can't say much. Original Carcassonne FTW! :D

Doesn't drawing mean random draw. Choosing or selecting means you can actually pick a certain.

If someone reaches the river limit, no boat movement is made and no points are awarded. The points only roll if the river is finished.

You had scoring the number of animals in your fields in Hunters and Gatherers too.
Sam, the starting tile in standard Carcassonne actually has a different back. It should be pretty simply to find. :)
It's still annoying to find, and can be a problem when someone else is helping put it away (in standard Carc).

We've been loosely playing this game to learn the rules but it's so confusing. I wish you would have covered all the rules.
