While you were discussing the setup, I felt like I was looking at the "River" expansion for original game. My wife and I love the original game so this may be a "buy" for us. Thanks for the in-depth review.
I love this version too. I took it to my game night and all the guys liked it. Make sure you have at lease 3 feet of room on the table the Amazon is long. The colors are bright and easy to see. I have all these series. They are all fun, but this is the best. Buy this game everyone!
It depends on your play style really. If you want the one that feels like a resource management euro-game, South Seas. If you like aggressive interaction with players, Gold Rush. If you want it most similar to the original but add just a tick of difference with a racing element, Amazonas.
5:45 yellow player gets points for all animals in the river: 5 points instead of 2. Players tied for second place get 3 points (piranhas)

Yes I agree, this took up more table space than I expected!
This looks good. While I understand they are similar but quite different, Do you prefer this over Cacao with the Chocolatl expansion?
What do you think is the best Carcassone Spin-off (dont know how to call them)? :)
