    Roller lifters, that is a great idea. So simple. Too often we make projects much harder than is needed. Thanks for sharing.

    Tom I always like to watch the repair type videos. It helps me to see different ways to set up odd shapes for machining them. I used a similar unknown bronze to make a bushing a few weeks ago for a lathe I am restoring. I think it may be Ampco. I found the piece in a scrap yard 45 years ago. Just the opposite my saw wouldn't scratch it so I had to part it off slowly. I also wasted a lot but it is what I had on hand. Have a half gallon jar with the chips in it now. I always smile when I see Kaos in the shop with you. Snuggles is now taking her little stuffed toys from inside the house out to the shop to keep her company. I was pretty proud of her last night when we went inside the house for the night. I told her to get Racky and take him in the house with us and she actually did it. Here is the video of her taking him out to the shop yesterday. Thanks for sharing your time with us.

      Hey Terry. That bronze was hard for sure. The HSS part off blade was struggling. Thank goodness the bandsaw cut thru it. Thanks for the video link. The racoon is almost as big as snuggles.

      @@hilltopmachineworks2131 She makes my day. Every morning when I wake up it's love at first sight all over again. I limit my trips to town because it is too hot for her to stay in the truck and she doesn't really like to ride. I had a little male half Yorkie half Jack Russel for 12 years that went everywhere with me. I sure do miss him. He refused to let me leave home without him. Tom, I don't speak for everyone, but dogs steal my heart. Thanks for making the videos for us all to enjoy.

    Nice to see Mr Kaos in shop with you one thing he has you worked out by making you walk to get then through it for him he is showing he is the Alpha mail what you should have done from earlier on is not go get it but mad him bring it closer but all up just love him and he must be good company for you on those long days in the shop

    Keep the bronze pucks too as sometimes they will solve vibration issues on long tube where the rollers won’t dampen. Nice to have options. 😊

    Top marks on that one Tom - really good save on the steady rest. Had to have been that way from the factory - seems like that kind of accessory is frequently left to chance, but you turned it into a solid tool. Great idea on the followers - cam followers are much more appropriate than just ball bearings. I'll have to shamelessly copy that.

    What determines 2 flute versus 4 flute when cutting. And does a 2 flute and 4 flute same size end mill run the same speed or are they different due to the number of flutes when determining cutting speeds. And is there a chart that tells you the cutting speeds on different materials and size end mill. Thanks for any info just learning milling as a hobbyist.

    • @hilltopmachineworks2131
      @hilltopmachineworks2131  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would have preferred to use a 4 flute, but I did not have one long enough in that diameter. So I had to use that 2 flutter. 2 flute end mills are great for chip evacuation so the better choice when milling plastics or aluminum.
