Thanks for the review. One question: is there some cabsim active during the sound demos?
Hey, I left the cab sim consistent throughout the entire review. I did have to adjust a few levels for some parts though. And if you're curious, I was using the darkglass elite 8x10 with a beta 52 mic for the cab in the darkglass element.

Paul, I need your help. My Spector 5 string Pulse just like the red one you’re holding arrive two days ago from Sweetwater and their description of the bass I bought says it has 2 push/pull pots, but I tried several times and I don’t believe it has 2 push/ pull controllers and I emailed Spector and Sweetwater because I believe their description was incorrect, so could you verify that the NS 5 Pulse like you’re demo does or does not have those push/ pulls? Thank you because I have not heard back from Spector or Sweetwater and I didn’t receive a registration card or anything from Spector in that shipment or a manual would’ve helped tremendously.
If Paul sees your question, he might be able to help. I will forward it. (I don't know if he still as these basses)
Hey Stan, I no longer have these basses (unfortunately, they were great) busy I don’t recall the pulse having any push pull pots, that one has the tone pump jr, which to my knowledge doesn’t have any push pull functionality. Similarly so, the pickups are not splittable so there shouldn’t be any push pull pots. I’m sure it was just a marketing mix up. Happens way more often than you would believe. Hope this helps.

How does the B on the NS Dimension 5 handle being dropped to A?

Why did you not touch the B string on the Pulse? Or did I miss it?

You got the voicings on the Fishman pickups mixed up. Up is passive, down is full frequency active, middle is scooped active.

Yah, but what's so great about the NS? It looks no different than their Legend series, yet costs a lot more!
@@RonnyOnBass You could say the same thing about Fender and many other brands. It's not in the looks though I can spot an NS series anytime. There was only one Legend series that had a carved body like an NS, if I remember correctly...

The Pulse has that Spector tone, while the Ethos is a bit on the hifi spectrum and a little held back. I have the Pulse and it is incredible.

Thanks for the review, very interesting! But it might have been better to avoid amp and cabsim…. Especially don’t use a 810! Imho it will color the sound of the bass way to much…. And i think the b string of the Dimension 5 is dead, I’ve heard this bass live and normally it has a very powerful b string! Anyway, thanks for the review!

The Dimension 5 has a weak B string. Due to the slant of the pickups, it needs a 6 string pickup to adequately cover all the strings, which Fishman does not make.

Yes, it can be heard very strongly in this video. I was about buying one, but this is a dealbreaker for 2000 € bass.
Dude that is one of the most massive sounding basses I have ever heard… I don’t know what you’re on about. It definitely is a lot less warm though I will say that, so I see where you come from

An ampsim is a software plugin on the computer that gets an input signal from the guitar being plugged directly into an audio interface. It has "virtual" knobs and buttons to control it that emulate a real amplifier.

The cab choice makes the Ethos sound very dark. The Pulse sounds like an extremely bright bass.
