      I became a fan almost 10 years ago when I saw a Facebook ad promoting them as similar to Opeth (I'm a fan of Opeth). So glad to have come across them and have been supporting them on Patreon since about 2016 or 2017.

    Yes, we don't produce much here in Australia but we do produce quality and this band are, without a doubt, one of our finest exports. To me, Ne Obliviscaris are an intellectual project as much as a band. Please do more Hedgy - Intra Venus is the song that hooked me early on and I've loved them ever since. I've seen them live twice and the atmosphere, the 'spell', they weave with every song is amazing. The audience were simply mezmerised. Tim, the clean vocalist/violinist has a great sense of humor too and Xen, the harsh vocalist is suitably dark, brooding and noble. btw The beard is looking great.

    I absolutely love this! The whole album is such a masterpiece. The thing I love about this track in particular (although it's the same on all tracks) is the fact Martino Garattoni's bass is so far forward in the mix. The way the bass seems to take you on a journey as it carves a path like a river, meandering along from source to sea. It's a thing is beauty, often overlooked but the ebb and flow are part of what makes this a special piece of music, and also what makes Ne O a special band.

    Ne Obliviscaris are way up there on my list of bands I want to see live! Had to check their tour dates but sadly nothing planned for Gothenburg this time around and both the Oslo and Copenhagen shows are on weekdays. You're in luck, though - they're doing gigs in the UK on May 17, 18 and 19 (not sure which of them is closest to you). These guys are truly amazing!

    such an emotionally captivating song, even more so given the context of what it's about. some other people who reacted to this one said that certain parts took too long, but I personally feel it's paced super well, allowing you to really sit in the beginning and end portions of the song. they just do that so well, it's not a shock most of their songs are like 8 - 15 minutes, it never feels like they are devaluing your time even with longer run times.
    glad you got around to this band again after a good handful of years, looking forward to another from this band when the album comes out if you so choose it :^)

    I found about this guys from that first video you did and they've slowly crept up to become my favorite band of all time. I also struggle with words every time I want to tell some friends why they should give it a go. Trying to describe music like this is just so hard. There's no way "tech death", "prog black" or any genre can make any justice to the stuff they put out. The other issue I have with recommending this to people is that it's hard to get into if you don't pay full attention to it, especially the first time you listen to their stuff. The song wants to grab you and take you along for a ride. If you want to be doing other stuff at the same time and you don't pay full attention, it's easy to not let the song get you into the mood it wants to set up.

    • @nicolasdias4827
      @nicolasdias4827 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 100% on the paying attention part. As for a descriptor, i think "Blackened progressive metal" fits them quite well.

      its so funny because i used to not give a crap about any of their songs, then I listened to forget not... and then i listened to it again, and again, every time you listen in their songs you notice something new. it is just the strangest yet most captivating part of Neo

  • @CharlesEMurphy

    Really asounding. There were sections where the violins were doing a high pitched wail over the death metal vocals that ere incredibly moving. This took me back to those hals an album side Rush epics, though a completely different style, that brought you through a tale.

    It is difficult to not be biased, if you write "masterpiece" across the thumbnail, especially if posted by such a knowledgeable guy. What I really think was outstanding in the song was the clean vocals and the use of strings. And that it had so many layers, but was still accessible for me.

    Ok ok ok ok so the thing that I am most intrigued about is the fact that until now I just noticed that there has been another occasional violinist in this band credited since their first album and now I see it in video...wtf?! And her last name is CHARLES? Is she related to Tim?! Sister? Wife? I need to know! And right before I post this...I SEE ANOTHER VIOLINIST POP UP WITH THEM?! What is going on?! This is fucking amazing!
