It's incredible how he only has played this character for 8 years at this point and that he would still play the character for 20 years after! He really had an incredible run as Mario and I'm really happy that he can still be with us as Mario Ambassador! ☺️
he says here that he was Mario for 12 years at this point (he's counting the convention/trade show events he did first for Nintendo), but yes! Amazing as Mario and the gang the whole time! Lots of amazing memories
2:27 this message right here will always make me proud to be a mario fan even when entering my adulthood years. so glad to just hear it from the former mario voice actor legend himself. thank you very much for having me play your games, charles "mario" martinet! you will always be number one.
I miss Charles Martinet's voice actor most marvelous work my childhood Mario Luigi Wario and Waluigi greatness characters ever made nintendo thank you my memories never forget you is time peace.
I met him for the first time in 2018. Nice nice man but also very stern. Most people don't know that but we had a serious conversation when I told him I wanted to adapt Zelda into a manga (and then hopefully into an anime) with an original storyline. He admired my enthusiasm but ultimately said it may prove otherwise difficult because how strict Nintendo is with there policies on their intellectual properties and other people using them. He did mention I can still make movies from other video games and especially come up with my own material....which by the way is what I'm doing now. I sought out plenty of inspiration and now I'm coming up with my own mythology. I can't wait to meet him a third time. He's so kind and passionate but also serious when he needs to be. Which isn't bad. We all get serious when need be. He just understood my passion as well. And that's coming from a fellow man who is also passionate
That's great. I met him and had a picture taken with him @ E3 a couple years back. Very nice man he is. He's very lucky to have this gig with Nintendo.
Everybody loves you Charles Martinet ! You contributed to create so many unforgettable memories for children all over the world ! Thank you very much, we will miss your voice
I respect Charles a lot. he's not one of those guys who hates to be remembered for one thing, like Jim varney and gary coleman and refuses to show it off in public. He's Mario and he's proud! Wish Sonic was still Jaleel White
Jim Varney was a legend. He didn't hate being known as Ernest at all; he embraced it and was grateful for the opportunity. However, if you know anything about his life you'd know he was an even more talented comedian than Robin Williams (one of his friends) that unfortunately didn't receive the same opportunities.
I'm heartbroken because this got recommended to me when Charles got promoted to ambassador and stopped being the voice of Mario Man, just how much can a single guy touch us so much and for so long... Thank you for everything, Charles!
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Charles Martinet at the Philadelphia Wizard World Comic-Con in 2015. I got to pose for a photo with him and get his autograph on a poster. One of the nicest men on this earth. By the way, anyone know when in Summer 2003 this episode aired? EDIT: Never mind. This aired on May 17th, 2003.
Charles Martinet the most iconic voice of mario has recently stepped down from voicing Mario so we must thanks him for 27 years of voicing Mario he was a legendary back than I love how he makes a perfect line
@Yoosurnaym - Mario 64 was Martinet's first video game he put his voice to. Previously, Martinet was being used at consumer electronic trade shows to portray Mario, Wario, and Donkey Kong by acting out the character facial moves with a 3-D motion capture rig to Martinet's face. Martinet would be somewhere in another room watching the crowd from a monitor while interacting with them.

That's awesome that he's from Sausalito. I've been there several times. Typically I would actually drive through it to get to San Francisco but I've also been in Sausalito and it's really beautiful there. It's a little less than an hour south from where I live in Santa Rosa so it's cool that he isn't far from my area or at least that's where he's from at least. I met Charles Martinet once at a convention in Sacramento and sadly I didn't really know what to say to him I was very starstruck and I ended up saying something stupid which I honestly forgot what it was but I imagine he probably forgot what it was too. Hopefully I can see him again and say something better. I've more recently tried doing my own Mario impersonation which obviously will not compare to the man himself But maybe not might be fun. Maybe in his Mario voice you could say that's very good.
0:04 Fun fact: in 2013 Charles Martinet got evicted from his home years later after a dispute with the landlord, and he has since spent about five years travelling around the world.
If the first thing that pops up is " Hello It's a me Mario " that's how you know It was meant to be. You will be missed you legendary voice actor and thank you for the wonderful work you have done.
