+adolson Yeah, it's not that bad. I have them all except Numenera. what you need to do is look on ebay for lots of multiple sets or boardgamegeek. You save money that way.
+adolson Definitely keep looking, especially on boardgamegeek. I bought a game from someone in Canada, had no issues. You might find someone willing to ship to you. Good luck!
Thunderstone was a pretty enjoyable game. I got frustrated with light issues and trying to teach new players, and the limitations. Also, there were a lot of "pointless" cards, namely the militia and iron rations. Upgrading militia was annoying, and iron rations usually were pointless. Here, things are much better, and I might recommend it over Dominion. Yes, you do swap out cards and decks every game. If you like deck-building mechanics, this is definitely a game to try, for sure.
Love the fact that they added the Launius/Vasel variant in the rulebook. I would have thought that they would add more player vs. player interaction as I felt that that was missing from the regular Thunderstone. Still will be picking this up.
Well, i know Dominion, and tried this game out a couple of days ago. It was a 4-player game and there was some incredibly powerful Dragon in the Dungeon that made you discard a card when you draw one due to a special ability. It was just so annoying to get started and of course nobody fought it to get it out of the dungeon, because the other players would immediately benefit from that. And that was the whole interaction aspect of the game. Well, it's not quite an interaction, more like causality
Ok late to the game here… no comparisons to Ascension? Well, looks great but I love the diversity of Ascension and all the different versions available. I rarely mix them. I prefer keeping the mechanics of each separate. Been looking for something new and this looks great 👍
@denmyos Well. Dominion Intrigue i think is all about interacting with other players. Though you can setup a game with cards so no interaction would occur. I haven't played Thunderstone and all its expansions, but it seems there is even less interaction, so probably this is not a game for you. Though, some can take chatting and trashtalking while playing as interaction :)
Very good game, as a solo game it seems to play pretty fast. Can be tough to do stuff if you don't get the right cards though, but there are always options.
I play both games. Dominion is much faster than Thunderstone so they are fun a different times. So don't feel bad, but make sure to buy Thunderstone when you can! :)
@denmyos Dominion playing against another player? Well, there are curses and thieves, but in general, you are more playing with your own deck trying to gather more points than the other players. So i would call it multi-solitaire:) Thunderstone is similar, you are competing with others to get more points. But in Thunderstone you can actually play by yourself (playing for some high-score of your own).
D: I hate hearing "better than Dominion" when I just started off my board/card/dice game collection with Quarriors and Dominion *sob* Oh well *sniff* Dominion is still fun
I feel so bad for not watching this before investing my money and soul into Dominion. Don't get me wrong, Dominion is great, and with the expansions it has an unparalleled variety (with all expansions, there are 14.7 quadrillion combinations of setups). Still though, Dominion is dryer than dirt, theme-wise. Well technically Dominion has no theme. At all. It's just an abstract game with some art. Thunderstone, on the other hand... too bad I won't be able to afford it for years tnx to Dominion.
This review sucks I watched it with a room full of people and everybody was laughing at it why does this guy go into so much detail on all the minutiae but miss the big Concepts. four out of five.
I bought the game and have had it a week. I have to say I'm really disappointed with it. Both me and my wife find the game really boring :( You basically just keep going to the village over and over and over again until you're 100% positive you can plow thru any monster in the dungeon. The whole experience just feels like a grind. It has great reviews on boardgamegeek so I'm not sure why its just not fun to us. I would hands down recommend and pick Dominion over this any day of the week!
Two Thumberstones up!
Wish they were still making this. I just paid $250 for this and 3 expansions since it's out of print now.

I found this at my local goodwill for 20 bucks with 2 expansions. only issues was that the board hard wear, but completely fine.
That's AWESOME! Nice find. I never find any cool deals like that.
It's up, it's funded, and it looks great.

Great review. So glad to hear the revision turned out so well. ORDERED!

Do you get the starter set or do you go right into "Towers of Ruin"?
Yes. You can mix and match all cards. There's a few more constraints such as you need heroes, items and spells (all heroes would be bad).
when does this come out?
had a hard time finding, saw sometime in march but no exact date
hey would you recomend this game? also is it like dominion in which you can swap out decks and cards every game?
thunderstone vs dominion..any thoughts?

"A-ha-the-torch!" :)) You were lucky to get this torch soon enough :)
What is the name of the game that you give an 11 on? the one with Academy in it's name?

They really aren't similar at all, so no reason to compare. They're both deckbuilders, but the similarities end there.

I give this review 2 huge thundersthumbs up!
@wr00t i like to interact with other players, so would this be for me.
Such a shame this isn’t in print anymore.
this game is $35 on amazon so it's very reasonably priced compared to many others
is this a solitaire game?
I did not hear anything about a 2 player.
In dominion you player against another player.
