- Detailed Trip Report of my American Airlines Long-haul flight from London Heathrow to Los Angeles LAX Airport in Economy Class! Follow me on my 11 hour flight aboard an EMPTY American Airlines Boeing 777-200ER - i had 3 Seats for myself and almost everyone else had a row too!! Later a cabin crew member told me there were 86 passengers on this flight!
The Inflight Service was very good for Economy Class - several meal, snack and drink services - of course all free of charge! Easy to say it was my BEST Long-haul flight experience so far - and my first flight with American Airlines. I have flown with them 6 times and never had a bad experience. Always in economy. In one instance I had a medical problem. I have panic disorder which basically means I sometimes, at random, lose control of my senses and my body randomly goes into fight or flight mode. The staff were very understanding and kind to me. A female flight attendant sat with me and watched a movie with me.
Feels I myself have had a similar incident on an AA flight from Charlotte to Paris. I had an anxiety attack and a flight attendant was so understating and made me feel at ease. Sat down with me and even checked my pulse and helped me calm down. I still remember her to this day, great service and truly so kind.
I love AA. They’re generous with food and drink, have experienced hostesses and their planes are comfortable too especially trans- Atlantic
Agreed. As I posted above, they seemed very professional regarding cabin service and passenger assistance.
Why do they get so much hate then?
Because few bad apples tend to spoil the whole bunch? And I believe people are more vocal/public about their negative experiences than about their good ones.
A B I totally agree! I flew on AA a few months ago from LAX-Tokyo Haneda and back & really enjoyed the service! United on the other hand is so awful with rude staff and terrible service!

One thing I loved ,is how quite it was in the cabin with so few passengers.......
On the one trans Atlantic trip I’ve been on, my return flight from Paris to Houston only had 75 passengers on a 777, I had an entire row to myself, all 9 seats.

This is literally one of my comfort videos that I keep coming back to. The vibe was relaxed, nearly empty flight, good eats, overall a super well-made trip report. I'm flying out to Heathrow from LAX in a few months. I hope it will be a nice as this.
sincerely thank you for this video. I used to be a flight attendant, but now I'm paralyzed from ALS ( I type with my eyes!) anyway I love airports and flying and I miss it. Your video made me feel like I was going on a flight! and I'm glad you had a great experience too!
Ive flown American a few times and always found their in-flight hospitality to be excellent....recommend it!

American is retrofitting all they’re 777’s with a new modern cabin, including they’re older 777-200’s. It looks really nice, especially with the power outlet in the seat!
Also, with the seatbelt going around your body in your makeshift bed you looked like a patient being restrained in their bed at a hospital lol

I once took American from Paris to San Diego, changing at Dallas and Chicago, respectively. The cabin crew were often mature people - a possible indication that they were long-standing AA employees, and happy in their jobs. Anyway, they were very cool and professional, and the food service was quite good. I don't understand all the bad press about AA. It seemed fine to me.

Air Canada hands out a similar box prior to landing. Only it’s a chicken or veggie pastry pocket. Pretty tasty too! I rarely get out of my seat on flights and feel now that I’ve totally missed out on the self serve set ups! I’m always sitting there hoping for more snacks lol! Next time!

40 minutes late ! Not good ! Your first lunch was almost a french lunch (with Thonon and Vache Qui Rit) :) I went to Martinique in June 2017 from Paris Orly and I took a Boeing 777-300ER. The drinks at the back of the plane was here too.

Better than United’s current Economy class
After some negative experiences on American's domestic flights, I was amazed that you had such a positive experience. I've only flown BA and Virgin Atlantic LAX-LHR and won't be going back until Covid-19 situation is resolved.
They improved the desert! Used to be a measly cookie.

Your moment where the 3 seats were empty happened to me at Etihad Airways literally I had my own private and slept like it was an awesome flight it felt like Business Class

Great video - I really enjoyed watching your trip report. It looks like you had a great flight. I have not flown American for many years and they really seemed to have improved everything from the IFE to the food/service, mood lighting of the cabin etc. Thank you.
I felt that the legroom was a bit smaller for 777-200, I'm jealous that you got three empty seats lol, every time I travel I rarely get empty seats next to me, probably only one seat in a 3 layout. I like their business class especially on the 787 and the 777-300.
Best long haul economy seats than any other U.S. carrier in my opinion
I still need to fly United and Delta longhauls to compare them..

Going to Ireland in May,my friend and I can dream of the plane being that empty😉it was a couple years ago when I flew back home from Scotland guess not many I guess wanted to fly into Canada.
i love flights where i get a whole row to myself especially the redeye ones when i go to Europe havent flown since March 2020 cause of the covid19 crisis. but 86 passengers on a plane for 300 thats incredible. also you have any good inflight meals lately i like the meals but they get boring after awhile especially if its the same thing on the way back.
Empty row for an 11hr flight. Great. Food looks good too.

I've never been on a flight longer than 6 hours so having a full fledged meal on a plane is pretty strange to me considering the only thing they serve on the United flights I've been on is a little waffle cookie thing with some cream in the middle

Yeah right - in an A320 86 just like 60% full... :)
I was on a PHL-FRA flight with LH and even got an exit row seat at the check-in counter. I didn't notice window and aisle have different row numbers on the 340-400 and blocked the baby bed with my online check-in so the friendly staff changed it :D - Thing was only half full, so I had exit row and no seat neighbor
London Heathrow is the biggest and most departed airport in Britain and is really hard to get your head around it has over 200 flights in each terminal every day so it is complicated
Yes, I enjoyed it. Wow! 86 passengers, a MOM plane should be on this route for such an empty flight. AA service looked pretty good. Hope you have a trip report to Jamaica soon. Great vid!

I wish you luck. But from my experience especially this year it is hard to come by flights that do have enough seats (fully booked and overbooked sometimes)...

Cheers. That's 5ft 8" in old meters ;-) so the legroom is good as it looks.

I forget tell you that i saw your video from start to finish.
nice - as soon as possible, I will go there again - and in my opinion - flying is an experience - and a part of the holidays - so i pay more for a good service, than to travel with a low cost carrier - like Norwegian and no, very bad, BA, and that`s for me Lufthansa, AA, turkish airways and other products - thats my opinion.
Lucky you got on an empty flight lhr-lax with american! They dominate the route along with virgin atlantic, so it is rare to find an empty flight!
Very kool to see a B737-800W with the bare metal and AA logo on its tail. Im glad you enjoyed flying with us on one of our B777-223 extended range aircraft. I hope you get to fly on our new 777-300W entended range aircrafts. We use the fleet on our London routes also.. Looking forward to see more of your videos onboard our flights.

I’m going on a flight to Jamaica this weekend, it’ll be my longest flight. I wonder if we get food. It’s about 5 hours total but we have an hour layover in another airport.
From where and which airline will you be flying? From the US and Canada you won't get this much food
If the plane was that empty and you would have preferred to sit a little farther forward (just behind the wing, I'm assuming), the FA would have allowed you to move. You just have to let them know, for weights & balances purposes.
14:46 lol you passed Arizona that’s where I live. I been to California twice this year and it takes 5-6 hours to get to California unless you woke up at 2 AM like I did to get there or 3 or 4 AM lol
if im not mistaken you can ask to sit n first or bussines class if there are seats available
+Cryptonian no airline in the world is going to do that. You can PAY for an upgrade. If it would be free nobody would by the tickets anymore 😂
no i meant once the plane is up in the air and there are empty seats like you would switch to an empty row to sit next to the window or something
