@@ChrisHopkinsBass he was probably better at quiz shows than magic in my opinion. From what I read in his biography he was also an amazing down-hill skier, an accomplished bummer, and an expert painter.
World class Brit - he should have gone to the states to make him a household name there... still he made plenty money here. Very pro Tory, he once said on a BBC Breakfast Time interview that he'd seen people attempting to escape from Communists being shot at by guards ....which had made his mind up regarding politics.
great stuff I like it not a lot but Paul was a great talent I played working mens clubs for years as a young man and so did Paul it was not easy believe me and a lot of the clubs I Played were in Glasgow near where I live so what a grounding that was then i moved into pop music then Rock music .
3:00 That fiver (according to the menu/chalkboard seen in other clips) would have bought FIFTY meat pies at the Wheeltappers and Shunters Club in 1975.
First Briton to create magic, first Briton to create a magical trick. Second Briton to write a book on magic. Inventor of many tricks, including Indian spoon trick, and spaghetti belly trick. Rumored to use carbon monoxide poisoning of audience to create hallucinations. All round genius.
Debbie joined him four years later. His talent as far back as 1975 is undeniable - very skilled and quick witted.
What a brilliant slick performance. Great with the audience as well.
Reminds me of Bob Monkhouse a lot - which is probably why he was so good doing quiz shows as well

This is a masterclass in stand up.thanks again for post.
No one can deny he was a superb performer and a natural with a live audience
What a patter. Amusing, entertaining and professional.
Definitely one of the all time best……very funny man and a superb performer!
True pro. The audience must have thought " oh shit" another card trick merchant. Then he went off with an ovation. That is skill.
Great talent.
We all miss him, " not a lot" but we do.
Those two tricks were his classic routines. There was no-one who could do the Chop Cup like him.
Wow. What a great English man. Great talent. God bless
He never called himself an Englishman, always demanded to be called a Yorkshireman or a Spunnet, as their known.
amazing😂🤣
The poor bloke at the end still had a torn fiver hahahaha
He bought a round of drinks with it and got £4.00 change.
Back then a fiver was worth 6.50 new money.
Great magic he was a clever man
This is entertainment at its best, by one of the best entertiners.
Very very talented man
that was fast and furious, took a lot of flack, but he was talented.

So if you hate Communism you have to become a Tory?
An inferno of a stage...enclosed on 3 sides. Inagine the energy.
One hell of a combover Paul had back then. He even made most of his hair disappear.
He was brilliant.
Brilliant he was

05:01 the smoke from the head trick was good 🚬
He was a hateful wee man when he got on his high horse, but as an illusionist, he was untouchable.
And he hated mediums, "psychics" and con artists of all kinds so he gets a pass from me
He was hateful, used to fart on photos of Ali Bongo before a show. I met him once in Dubstable called me a numpty.
Genius
Amazing 😳
South African Shuffle.....

He was definitely a class act. Bernard Manning was spotted in the Background. Was this not the Embassy Club Manchester ?
Not at all, it was all a set at Granada Studios, but brilliantly done.
You will like it but not alot lol.

David Nixon?
couldnt stand him or his side kick trogg
Haters got to hate.
Great performance, but a man with a few problems...
Problems? I knew about the homophobia, the hypersexuality, the priapism the devil worship. But what other problems are you even talking about?
Great magic but the patter offensive by today's standards.
Who bloody cares. It’s still funny
By today’s standards he is exceptionally talented as well
