The best thing about this bit is imagining, just imagining, how many evenings Michael Davis spent alone in a garage juggling butter and letting it slap him on the face. Over. And over. And over.
He almost certainly used something of roughly the same size and weight considering that he does it just as well with a less gross object like the bread.
@@AberrantAberrant I can't imagine that. Nothing is going to have the grip and slip of butter. It melts the more he touches it, it sticks to his fingers, etc.
I'm baffled as to how I missed this guy! He's got YT clips from the original Smothers show. I'm a comedy fan pushing 70yo, and I never caught this act? A complete original, really appreciate the dry humor on display. Amazing...
Watching the Paul Daniels show as a kid was fucking awesome. Now he’s considered a figure of fun in the culture, but at the time he was such a highly regarded magician worldwide, it meant British TV viewers were treated weekly by visits from the best visiting variety acts from across the globe.
He was the highest paid entertainer on the BBC at one point, and his show was the number one for a long time, with good reason. He was an amazing talent and comedian, and I for one missed that show when it went off.
I'm not a big fan of playing with food (that's an euphemism) but I really like the fact that in the end M. Davis actually initiate to put the butter on the presentator's face, but didn't. I've got the feeling that nowadays, transgression make us laugh, even if it often becomes irrespect. I really love the fact that this was only suggested - so we could all understand what he was about to do. And finally P. Daniel put himself the butter on his face, and it still was very funny, like "I don't want you to be alone on this, let me do this dumb thing too" which is absurd in a way, but way more pleasant to see. (This is obviously my opinion, you may have yours.)
@Do Nut Stollen is a traditional German bread, filled with nuts and dried fruit, and coated in a sugar glaze. It is typically eaten in and around the Christmas season. Regardless what you think of my comment, it has very little to do with Stollen.

"I can't believe it's butter!"
the interaction between the two seems so well planned and free at the same time
Is that his father? Hope your life is going well, pass it on.
Good, clean, old-fashioned family entertainment. I miss those days.
no need to miss it, you're watching it now for free!
2 things, first, you werent around those days, second, this is not clean.
@@WarlordX7 you don't even know how old this person is, and how is it not clean?

All those violence in movies and sex on TV
This was great. Everyone can enjoy this type of humor.
thanks for making me put a fingerprint on my glossy screen that i thoroughly cleaned 30 minutes ago
The only thing TH-cam does right.
for some reason watching two grown men throw bread into an audience made my day
Dylaz Lonter [reborn] .....me too ! I’m gonna buy a loaf , just to throw the slices like frisbees ! Also the way the bread squashed to nothing !

Same. He suddenly popped up a week or so ago while I was looking for magic shows for my little boy. He is just soooo good.
Agreed, fabulous guy
People were laughing so hard that they were coughing. Thats how you know its good!
Somebody fixed the TH-cam recomend algorithm!!!!!
He reveals a key here. "Complete and utter confidence in my ability is very important."
I loved watching the Paul Daniels Magic Show as kid/teenager. It was essential viewing.
Very funny. Paul Daniels’s show was really good old fashioned entertainment. Thanks. 👍
The smartest humor is always so dumb. Counts his fingers... I loved it
wow, 87, year i was born. fuk im getting old. Juggling with eyes closed got me XD
I think this used to something called.. wait, wait. Oh! I remember! It's called talent!
The "it's the same axe, I've replace the handle, and the head" joke was also used in Only Fools and Horses, almost a decade later.
That joke is as old as the hills!
Acient greece had this. Not an axe, but a boat
The Greeks also invented gayness
@@spicekid2582 Nah, that was God and it was considerably earlier than the Greeks.
I like how he looks so incapable at the beginning but he's not!
this is sincerely one of the funniest bits i’ve ever seen

He reminds me of Dennis in it’s always sunny in Philadelphia
in another performance, he said opposite " comic says funny things, but comedians says things funny"
