HOPE A MIRACLE FOR THE YOUNGEST EAGLE
A sad incident occurred in the Kaljukotkas 2 Golden Eagle eagle's nest in this year's 2024 season, where the youngest eaglet experienced physical pressure by its oldest sibling who was its rival in the nest. This incident is common in all chicks of birds of prey where the eldest eaglet intimidates and attacks towards their little siblings. But most of them managed to survive into adulthood.
If there are two golden eagle chicks in the nest, it is rare for the youngest chick to survive. They will be killed by their older siblings in sadistic ways ranging from intimidation so they don't get food and starve to death to cannibalism.
In this nest, the youngest eagle did not get food for more than 35 hours. Apart from having to endure starvation conditions, he also had to suffer violence from his rivals, this was truly very sad.

I watched this nest. I watched the pitiful demise of the younger eaglet. There was no food shortage in this area. The food came continuously after the oldest killed, the youngest. It makes it more infuriating, knowing this nest is on a military base being watched. This is a critically endangered species, and they chose not to intervene and rescue the youngest. This was preventable and they did nothing! Pitiful and disgusting!

The oldest, practically starving from lack of food also, didn't exactly help either. Look at it's crop, it's almost sunken in. They get real cranky when they're hungry, especially the eldest. I've watched nests with four chicks, bald eagles, ospreys, & if food is plentiful, everyone eats, everyone is happy, the nest stays calm. Did anyone notice, that right after the younger ones demise, food was all of a sudden available? 🤔 This was hard to watch, for me.
