Ernie Banks played all 19 seasons of his MLB career with the Cubs and affectionately earned the nickname Mr. Cub. A 14-time All-Star and 2-time MVP, Banks was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1977. He was the first player to have his number retired by the Cubs in 1982. I remember 1973. I met Ernie Banks at Wrigley Field and he signed an autograph for me. He was the nicest guy you would ever wanted to meet .And he is my favorite Cubs player of all time.

I do not care what YOU think. If you ask any living HOFer, or MLB veteran with significant experience, THEY will tell you that Ernie Banks is one of the greatest to ever play the game of baseball. It is a shame his name is not remembered as much by the younger generation as some of his contemporaries.
