I had the honor of going to high school with Ryne. Played on a Babe Ruth team with him. He was a couple of years younger than me. Even though he was younger than most of us, it was obvious that he was destined for greatness.

@christopherfields9785 Jim Croghan lives in Spokane, WA. That's where Ryan Sandberg grew up and is from. This is not far fetched or even hard to believe at all. Also, why would someone ever lie about something like that. Lol 😅

Legend. He is why I love baseball. My uncle lived in his neighborhood in Arizona. I was fortunate to get his autograph.

What a ball player. Absolute privilege to watch whether fielding hitting or running the bases.

Daytime Baseball, Wrigley Field, Harry Carey's amazing calls, Mark Grace, Andre Dawson, and RYNE SANBERG were the best years of my childhood!!!!!

When my brother and I would play catch together he was always Mark Grace and I was always Ryne Sandberg.

43 years watching the Cubs, and he's still my favorite ballplayer. Talk about the epitome of what being a professional means.

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. Ryno was my first favorite Cub and that position is never going to be supplanted.

Ryne Sandberg was my childhood hero.
I loved him. I mirrored him.
He was my first attempt at echoing excellence.
And I'm still on that same road today.
    Thanks Ryno!

You will be hard pressed to find a better all around player in the game. To me, Sandberg is what baseball should be like. I loved Sandberg so much that I named my kid after him.

This man is the reason I am a Cubs fan. The Sandberg game my distant cousins are over at my grandparents house my family are Sox fans and they are Cubs, there is a terrible storm so they can’t get home and one of the ways we persuaded them is we said we will turn on the Cubs game for them. That game just happened to be the Sandberg game and we were instantly Cubs fans

As a kid, he was the first player I saw staling home, and it blew my mind seeing that. Keep healthy, Ryno, you can beat it

I remember watching Cub games as a kid with my dad in person & on TV. I always tell my kids Ryan was my favorite and he was my first baseball card. I love that there was a highlight of his career put together it brings me back to my childhood. He made baseball great!

I became a Cubs fan in 87 at the age of 10 years old. Just as it was then, it was a pleasure to watch again now. Ryno was a weapon and a beast, and a great player and guy. One of the best ever. Was fun to watch. Great player and video

Started collecting his old baseball cards. I have fond memories of growing up and going on family vacations up to Iowa to see family and watch Cubs baseball. Sandberg was my grandpa's favorite player. Miss you grandpa!

I met Mr. Sandberg when I was 10 years old, playing basketball against his son's All-Star team. I watched Ryno since I could remember. My dad told me he was there, and I was able to meet and shake his hand. We won the game.
Played against Robin Youngst's son too. Was best friends with a MLB pitcher's son growing up without knowing it.
Many stories. I would share more stories, if any care. Including Matt Williams, Danny Glover, and the Legends Jim Brown & Mr. 19, (Johnny Unitas).
