1st gen CRVs are so underrated. They're built like tanks - incredibly tough and durable. They have a lot of personality and really grow on you. I bought a '99 for my son and he drove it until he could afford something "cooler". I was going to just sell it after he was done with it but after cleaning it up and fixing a couple little things I just couldn't part with it. It has 270k miles on it and runs like it will run forever.
Just got this car from my dad because my dad doesn’t drive anymore. This car is full of wonderful memory since I was born and watched your video give me a pump to take care of my boy and love it much more.

Just my 2 cents but the aftermarket short ram air system may actually decrease engine performance since it now sucks in all the hot air released by the exhaust system and radiator. Without the enclosure, it does not shield the unwanted hot air from entering the engine.
Flash News: The factory intake sucks hot engine bay air. The inlet pipe to the filter box is shaped like a U, I guess for fording water reasons. I got rid of mine after hacking the filter box. If I had to do it a second time I would cut the U section and leave just enough of it to suck colder air from behind the front bumper and close the hole where it comes up out to engine bay space.
Agreed. Definitely not a power upgrade in a sense. There is less restriction in comparison to the stock intake which makes a miniscule difference, but definitely a more predominant intake sound. At speed the amount of cooler air in the engine bay pretty much breaks even for power. Throttle response does fractionally improve but nothing you would write home about. At the end of the day, it's purely for sound purposes.

They are on average $7 a spark plug. And they burn up and start fouling in 2 months. The 2.4 vtec head is the same as early 90s accords. So, I installed the oldskool plugs. $ 1.50 a spark plug. I keep coming back to these videos. Had a b20 ek civic, recently sold. Have a 98 5sp awd silver clean CRV! Can't wait to add modifications like these. I'll get 16x8 wheels though.
Aw man... the nostalgia in this video... my first car was a 97 civic with the d16z6 and I learned alot and they are sooo easy to work on lol. When you turned the corner and I heard it growl, that made me smile and took me back to those days. Im about to get a 1st or 2nd gen crv. I love this video 😊
Love the job. A few mugen parts would really add some flair to this build as well. The only thing I would have added in, for the time span would be the OEM hard cover for the spare, or a matching spare. I think it really sets a build off on these when they have aftermarket wheels and they put a matching 5th on the back. Love the build and the attitudes. (Also, lol'ing at the use of 'Pimp' in 2020, the amount we used to say it in the 90's... Just sounds so funny now.) Much love boys, great work!
This came out nice! Its cool that you did that for your brother. Quick tip: you can use a heat gun on the faded black trim and it’ll bring them back to life. Of course it’s just a temporary fix but I’ve done it on a few cars and it’ll typically last 6-7 months. Hopefully this’ll help someone
We had a 1st gen Crv, to this day I still think it was our best looking vehicle. Less design is more I guess, coz the rav4 of that generation was.. lulz sorry
I like these builds. Look forward to more of it. One thing I would do as you had bumpers off is clean the heck out of the surfaces underneath and engine bay clean up
The bumpers painted in the same color as the bodywork really made the car look 5+ years younger, it's such a transformation.
the special editions had half the bumpers color matched. they look really good.

Well you don't have to be a ju
What pimp my ride should have been. I would definitely watch a show that moderately restores old daily drivers like this.
I've always wanted to do a build like this. I'd also throw some changes into the interior - but this is a almost a dream daily for me.
for about 15 years or more, i always wanted to do a crv setup. they seem like such a nice change up from a civic build. been there done that.
Next we need a 5 speed swap with a GSR head! Part 3 and 4 coming soon!
Thanks for showing us mod on basic car like this!
Love the fact that it is not over modified at a point it looks smart and brilliant but not losing and performance at the same time
Keep it up!!! Wish to see more!
We need more of this content!
I keep coming back to these videos. Had a b20 ek civic, recently sold. Have a 98 5sp awd silver clean CRV! Can't wait to add modifications like these. I'll get 16x8 wheels though.
When can we expect to see the STi killer Evo? 😁
Aw man... the nostalgia in this video... my first car was a 97 civic with the d16z6 and I learned alot and they are sooo easy to work on lol. When you turned the corner and I heard it growl, that made me smile and took me back to those days. Im about to get a 1st or 2nd gen crv. I love this video 😊
That CRV literally is an integera 😂😂
Love the job. A few mugen parts would really add some flair to this build as well. The only thing I would have added in, for the time span would be the OEM hard cover for the spare, or a matching spare. I think it really sets a build off on these when they have aftermarket wheels and they put a matching 5th on the back. Love the build and the attitudes. (Also, lol'ing at the use of 'Pimp' in 2020, the amount we used to say it in the 90's... Just sounds so funny now.) Much love boys, great work!
Now my CRV really is sad that it’s missing some of that love.
I’ve never wanted a CRV, until this video. 😂
One can mod any vehicle If one has knowledge, right parts, and connections. CRV looks awesome!
We had a 1st gen Crv, to this day I still think it was our best looking vehicle. Less design is more I guess, coz the rav4 of that generation was.. lulz sorry
I like these builds. Look forward to more of it. One thing I would do as you had bumpers off is clean the heck out of the surfaces underneath and engine bay clean up
Yeah. I was expecting to see that.
Hope he takes better care of it now. Looks awesome. CRVs are cool little suvs
I really enjoyed this... shows what a little love and a decent budget can do for a 20 year old car
