    Love this series! You're removing the mystery of how these are built even if I never tackle anything like this myself. Thank you for the effort you put into this. And have a great vacation. 😊

    I would recommend that when installing vents or other items with thin metal flanges, that you start in the middle at each side and then work your way towards the corners with your screws. That will help keep the metal from rippling. I also prefer to fill in the sealant between screw holes. The reason is so the water sheds off rather than pooling. It does use a lot more sealant but I feel like it offers a little more piece of mind. I do enjoy your videos. You do good work.

    I'm getting ready to redo the roof of my RV travel trailer I just found out that it's Luan can I upgrade that to a heavier plywood

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can. I wouldn’t go any thicker than 7/16. If it’s an ultra light, I wouldn’t (you’ll compromise the integrity of the roof by removing the luan because it’s glued to the foam of the roof). Also keep in mind it will increase the weight of the trailer a bit too.

      @@fallenintocamping well I have to repair it because it has water damage so I figured I would just replace the entire roof

    Have you ever had any experience with EternaBond Tape there seems to be a lot of controversy with the stuff. Also I am going to be tackling, replacing the floor on my rear king bed slide out, due to water damage. 2014 Jay Feather x213.
    I was quoted $4,800 to do the job! That must have been the I don't want to deal with it price from the place that quoted me, so I guess I'm doing it! What materials would you use for the floor of the slide out. it looks like they use some sort of tarp material on the bottom of the of the slide out, do I need to reuse that or can I use something different. Really enjoy the detail that you go into on your Channel good work!🤘

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eternabond is terrible. OK for a temporary fix if your out camping, but never a permanent solution. Once in the sun, they can actually create air bubbles and water gets under it and gets trapped, causing an eventual leak. Better to seal it with the proper sealant (self leveling).

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as the slide, the tarp is common. I have a video on slide repair that is part of this demo series that you would probably find helpful. Depending on the framing, your repair might be different. Any idea if your slide is all wood OSB subfloor, or is it aluminum with foam core?

    • @thirdgearboogie2210
      @thirdgearboogie2210 ปีที่แล้ว

      @fallenintocamping when I purchased the camper, it was labeled as all aluminum-framed with some sort of fiberglass vacuum- formed product on the exterior. The floor of the of the bed slide out looks to be plywood not OSB. It looks like it is about 1" thick

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thirdgearboogie2210 I don’t know if you have an Instagram, but feel free to send me some pictures if you can and I’ll give you some suggestions. My personal camper had some damage to the slide (also aluminum frame with fiberglass) and it was just 3/4 inch OSB

    • @fallenintocamping
      @fallenintocamping  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Over. I used to do under like they do from the factory, but after repairing so many with front cap damage, I put it over. If there are ever any leaks, it’ll run down the cap instead of inside the cap
