Your pain is felt, spaiz frend. Hearing t2 rigs used to run for 500m raised an eyebrow. CCP killed my null site runs when they recently put out a new, highly desirable item earned through the ORE lp store, causing traffic and traffic hunters to flood my unofficial backyard.
Whilst coping with the changes, I started running Triglavian emerging conduits in highsec. It quickly became a drag, but the pay was decent, and I could provide trig salvage to my corp mates who were building trig ships. This is where CCP showed me what kind of numbers they're looking for. They nerfed the hefty ever-living double hockey sticks out of conduits, making their payouts worthless.
I'd imagine the only way to make big isk to find something that is only worthwhile when done solo or something they can't change easily.
I started out in 2012, I remember when exploration was done in combat-fitted cruisers, as you had to kill the rats first. And you know what? I don't miss it at all. I'm glad exploration became mostly a non-combat activity (except for the Sleeper sites). There is enough combat PvE in the game as is, and it was nice to see more specialized ships like the Astero appear (I really love flying these little slippery bastards). The mini-game is entertaing enough and the thrill of being hunted out in lowsec, null or WH space offers a sense of adventure as well. You can also easily hunt other explorers in an Astero or even a T1 explo frig, doubling the excitement.
The one thing I'm very happy they walked back on is the loot can spew, jfc that was a horredous mechanic.
I explored before and after the changes (and even before Apocrypha when you had to fly to manually place probes). It's still a great career in EVE and there's so much more exploration content now than in the past. Changes will always come; the fun is in the adaptation. Signal Cartel persists, whether in null sec, W space, or anywhere else!
Full disclosure: I *SUCK* at Eve; but my main is old as balls (idk... 2006?) -- if I need a quick ISK infusion, I hit C1-3 wormholes (quite soloable), & since ya like 'Exploration', you can farm the Hack sites also --- can't recall if Archeo sites spawn in Dubspace.
E: living in W space may spice up your gaming? G'luck.

I used to quite happily run 4/10s and 5/10s in low sec, playing dodge the pirate and hunting those sweet, sweet drops. The writing was on the wall when the Gistum B-Type dropped from close to 450,000,000 isk to just above 250,000,000 at one point. It's recovered a little bit, but exploration's golden period is long gone. It's a shame because I used to love cracking cans and seeing what tumbled out. At least the price didn't collapse like it did with nano-ribbons in J Space.

J space is space located via wormholes. Nano ribbons are an item drop that had it's drop rates nerfed.
As someone birthed in 09, data core farming, exploration, T3 subsystem building, just to name a few. Afraid to start another, as every time I get good at it ccp changes it, I think there monitoring my account, for oh no, he's making to much isk, change it.
I still want them to replace my POS's stuff.
I learned those probes the old way, so rewarding when one figured it out. After taking a break, I came back and was shocked they dumbed down such a cool game mechanic.
As a non-player; it sounds like CCP Games intentionally nerfed Archaeoraiding (discovering/looting or ambushing for valuable tech/items) - i.e., they dumbed it down for n00bs.
Made my living in Eve of DED 5-6 plexs in lowsec. I'd triple box 100MN AB PVP Tengu, PVE Ishtar and a scanning link loki (back around 2011). Made some great ISK. Sometimes there was even a player faction spawn that dropped shiny loot. DEDs are also a great place to bait fights as other players can't directly warp to you. Got some amazing fights and kills that way. My corp went on holiday to Syndicate to mess with the locals. I discovered Serpentis DEDs and Vindicator BPs. IIRC the price was around 700-800 mil a pop. Started running them solo and corpies gradually joined in. Got to the point where as a group we could sweep the eastern side of Syndicate for sites really fast. Damn good fun. That Syndicate campaign and derping around Molden Heath with humbless crew and Calamitous Intent were some of my best Eve years.
Eventually burnt out on MMOs....but I still remember Eve fondly.

Wow this game has come a long way since I played the day it came out in 2003. Yes I still have my account . But not trained since 2008 I think. Lvl 5 in alot of high damage and mining . Used to be with celtic anarchy, great times
Imagine if you will, a game that's absolutely impossible to play in any comprehensible way because instead of having a logical way of flying, you need to double click, right click, and click to move **IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEEE!!!**

Diversification is always a great idea in your eve career
I think every change that makes EVE more access able is a good change. I really like the exploration system. Also i never played it before the changes. But as you said, it takes 3 Month to even get there skill wise. Most player have dropped that game by then a while ago. As it is right now you can almost immediately start exploration in high sec with all the low level sites, and with more experience expand to low, null or Wormhole space which i used to prefer. And it's not like i ever felt safe. I lost quiet a lot of asteros, which also partially is due to me sucking at eve but nevertheless.
Wormhole diving is definitely exciting and you can make some good isk, if you can't handle the lack of local, try doing DED sites in null, just find one of the many quiet areas and go nuts.
My career was sustained by pirating. Pirating was my defacto play style.
I don't mean ghey gate camping, I mean pirating. Hunting, tracking, attacking, ransoming/destruction.
No blobs, usually just myself, sometimes my buddies would tag along, especially if I was feeling like fcing.
Best times with Casting Shadows, Exotic Dancers, B.O.K.K., all the Jeon Essence gangs.
Best fights against corps, hands down go to Conin, F.O.F.F., and shoutouts to their old alliances MC, Executive Outcomes.
Good times knocking stuff over in cloud ring, against Test Alliance.
I realize I'm running across this video late but have you ever looked into doing sleeper relic and data sites? Can do them in specialized t3cs to kill most of the enemies except for the spawn trigger then hack the cans for t3 blueprint components. It's kinda a specialized field to even do C3 sites because it requires combat and exploration skills to do them solo.

I would reccomend ded running in your ishtar or vexor. use the scan probes, scan combat sites, such as blood refuges, sell the loot. very similar to your old career and still works for me.

Man if only elite dangerous had the player base eve has. There would be no contest.
Unfortunately Elite Dangerous lacks complexity and gameplay options. That's why it has a small player base in the first place.
@@AEvans853 it's complex in other ways, I'd say. And most of the fun stuff on Elite Dangerous is player interactions.
Sidney Fein elite dangerous is a train wreck glad I only spent $7 on steam when it went on sale uninstalled after 20 hours of game play compared to the thousands of hours on Eve online. Absolutely no comparison between the two games other than it takes place in pixel space.
When Odessey came out my carrer started I put 185 Mio Skillpoints into Production Reprocessing MIning Sience Work to perfect it.
Maybe we should start a Defund Concord Campaign.

As a newbro who has been loving my astero and making a ton of isk doing exploration, I kinda feel guilty now lol - sucks this happened tbh, I see where you're coming from. It sucks feeling like new people are prioritized above veterans in a game you've loved & played for years. I don't think I'd be enjoying eve any less if these changes weren't made, although the auto formation of the probes is great quality of life change it seems.
In a way it's sad to see those specialized exploration ships. There is no cruiser that can compete with an exploration Stratios. Maybe a T3. And there is no frigate that can compete with the Astero.
The universe would be much more diverse if those ships didn't have that high ehp/dps/cargo/dronebay/scanning and hacking bonuses.
I prefer the Probe over the cheetah for exploration just because of the cargobay and the ability to use salvage drones. But if I see an Astero on DScan I have to run :(
T3Cs with Covert Reconfiguration are the ultimate Exploration boats. But the Stratios is a much more accessible option.
The Astero is the best combat explo frigate, but a CovOps frig is cheaper and has more probe strength.
Eve has always been that one game i've always looked at with "ooooh! aaah! pretty cool" but never tried, and i probably never will lmao! xD Seems like Dwarf Fortress in Space(tm), but with less chronic-eye-disease causing graphics and just slightly less soul-crushing learning-curve, wich is another game i've always wanted to learn but just cant be bothered.. :'D

Have you ever tried wormhole space? And I'm not talking about poking your head in there once in a while, but living in there and traveling EVE exclusively through shortcuts. Plenty of adventure found this way... and isk lots of it.
Did you ever tryed to go mining I make about 4 Billion ISK a week Mining Ice Planetary Interactions, Producing Fuelblocks and selling them on the Market like Jita IV.
Your whole corp concept in a C3- if its with structures, or temporary in a shattered. Scan, hack & rat in neighbouring systems and whs (chain farming, rolling wh). I think at least the main activities are quite smiliar and i would think it even pays more. ofc asset logistics would be a bottleneck especially with structures. Some Ishtars with sentrys and a noctis. just my two cents

So you’re crying because explorers got better at avoiding your ganks. You can’t keep up with the better pilots who are good explorers. Hah there is nothing more satisfying to me then baiting gankers with a cyno equipped exploration frigate then land 2 sins and a tengu on them. I think you’re just upset because explorers are banding together and fighting back.
