I remember Dr. Marbas from the earlier PlantStrong podcast, and its fabulous to have her on the podcast again. She is a wealth of plant-based health info. Many thanks.
I just started sharing videos on my TH-cam channel about how our family of 4 has made this WFPB lifestyle work for the past 14 years. Keeping it simple is key for us! Dr Marbas is one of my favorite docs to listen to--love her calm demeanor.
Wow, that was an incredibly information packed discussion with 2 of my favorites. Both are amazing. I been listening to Dr. Marbas since way back, always impressive and I always learn and get inspired! Thank you!
I've been sleeping with rosemary essential oil on my scalp since 4/2022 to help major hair loss and I've got new growth. It CAN help with androgen related hair loss. My B12 was borderline too high during a physical in 2021...which shocked the doctor as I'm a long term vegan. I live in sunny NM but need 5,000 IUs daily to be in the 80s.
Can Dr. Marbas please supply her sources of data showing that methylcobalamin increases risk of stroke by raising the level of homocysteine? My understanding is a LACK of B12 causes raised homocysteine levels.
Hi. Sorry for the confusion. My intention is the point that elevated homocysteine does increase the risk of stroke. In some patients I have seen an improvement of homocysteine from switching from methyl B12 to cyano B12.
l am confused over vitamin D some of the plant based doctors say no don't take them or other vitamins. they say we only need vitamin B so do we take vitamin D or not. can you clarify this please. you have very informative information thank you
Hello Rip and Dr. Laurie. I'm a single senior trying to remain plant based. Should I have any concerns about canned organic black and red beans? Surely, I don't add any salt. Also, Aldi's has an an organic brown rice and quinoa mix in a 90 second pouch. I add the mix to the canned beans on the stove because I'm not a huge microwave fan, particularly with food in a plastic pouch though purported to be safe. I'm hoping the organic brown rice is free of the glyphosate often associated with non-organic grains. Your thoughts? Thanks so much.
You could have about 1 lousy ounce, or around 40 calories of clams per week and you would get about 1000% RDA of B12. Taking an unregulated B12 pill made in a lab you did not visit in person, that comes in a bottle, your body may view as a foreign unknown enemy it does not recognize and this is how people can wreck their health.

No problem with canned beans. I use them regularly myself.

Hello from NJ
The Cyn B12 is synthetic and the Methyl is natural. I take the Garden of Life vegan Methyl.

There is no such thing as a plant based physician as it is not an accredited term by anything.
There is a certification for Lifestyle medicine.
