  • Everyone has to start somewhere. For me I decided to start by trying something really difficult. With this truck, I've done 2 engine swaps, 2 transmission swaps, an axle swap, and a whole body swap! I made plenty of learning mistakes, but 2 years later I have something I am proud of. It will do anything I ask it to, and it gets decent mileage for a heavy brick.

For a guy who didn't know nothing, I'd say you did pretty damn good job of building your own one of a kind badass truck. Well done 👍

Fantastic job! 🙂👍 Hats off to you for doing the work and putting in the time. I like the old school "camper" mirrors also. 🔧

"I decided to start by trying something really difficult" - this is basically me with my projects. This is a sweet truck, good on you. I love seeing these kinds of swaps.

I have a 92 f250 idi, one of the smoothest running engine’s I’ve seen. As you said they’re extremely underrated!

That truly is a 73. Only year they had 4 screw tail lights. 👍

I plan on doing something similar soon. Iv owned a handful of idi’s and 7.3 psd’s over the past decade, learned a whole lot from upgrading all of those previous trucks that I knew exactly what running gear I wanted to start with. So I picked up a ‘90 f350 4x4 7.3 zf5 with 4.10s. Only thing I plan to do drivetrain wise will be a turbo kit. As far as the build goes, I plan on getting a 70s body from down south (I live in Ohio so you can imagine the foot size holes this cab has in it) and then I’ll ditch the box and get a decent flatbed for it.

Had a 76 highboy I regret selling I would have done this 7.3 upgrade. I have a 96 7.3 crewcab now but love the 70’s too. Good job buddy.

Looks like you're rolling into Eureka from the north in the last clip. My brother lived up there back in the 70's. You didn't grow up there, judging by your accent. Hence the Hillbilly moniker. Nice build. Plenty of rain. No rust.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this man. Recently got a bricknose 4x4 with a 7.3idi.

Front axle is from an 86-91 F350, has kingpins. The 91-97 F350s have balljoints.

Gorgeous, great video. I have a 92 F250 IDI with 280K and I'm driving it until I die or they invent an electric pickup that can pull a heavy load a decent distance.

Thanks for filming and sharing! I have two IDI trucks sitting as donors for my 7.3 IDI swap to SuperDuty f350.
